Important Safety Instructions

General Introduction

The CU58 is a USB microphone with a cardioid polar pattern. It features a monitor mix control switch, headphone volume control switch, mic gain adjustable switch, and a mic mute knob. These controls make the microphone more practical. It is a plug-and-play USB device, compatible with Windows and MAC computers. A purple LED inside the microphone cage indicates when the microphone has power. Its special mount shock reduces vibration during recording and stage performance.

Introduction of Each Button

The CU58 microphone features several controls:

Installation

Attaching the Microphone:

  1. Switch the clip assembly into the mic stand base.
  2. Attach the microphone to the mic clip assembly and lock it.

Adjusting the Angle:

  1. Loosen the safety knob.
  2. Position the microphone for ideal pickup.
  3. Lock the safety knob. (Adjustable angle from -90° to +90°).

Preliminary Set Up with WIN10

1. Plug the free end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer. The microphone's purple LED light will illuminate, indicating the mic is receiving power. Your computer will automatically recognize the USB device and install a driver.

2. Click the Start button, then click Control Panel.

3. Click Hardware and Sound.

4. Click Sound.

5. In the Sound window, select the "Recording" tab. Double-click "Alctron CU58" to select it as the default recording device.

6. To adjust the volume, click the "Levels" tab and adjust the microphone volume using the slider. Click "OK" to save changes.

Preliminary Set Up with MAC

1. Plug the free end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer. The microphone's purple LED will illuminate, indicating the microphone is receiving power. Your computer will automatically recognize the USB device and install a driver.

2. Open System Preferences.

3. Click Sound to display the Sound preference pane.

4. Click the "Input" tab and select "Alctron CU58-USB" as the device for sound input.

5. Your preferences are now set to use the Alctron CU58-USB with your recording program of choice.

Recording Setting

Using Audacity as an example, the setting method is similar for other recording software:

  1. After downloading and installing recording software (e.g., Audacity), open it and navigate to "edit" > "preferences" > "recording" settings.
  2. In the settings window, select your desired audio format (e.g., stereo or mono).
  3. Click the red record icon to begin recording.
  4. When starting recording, ensure the sound resource is set to "Alctron" (or the CU58 microphone).
