Philips MPS3100/05 Occupancy Sensor Specification Sheet

Philips MPS3100/05 Occupancy Sensor

Overview

The MPS3100/05 is a mains-powered, standalone occupancy and daylight sensor. It is an Interact Ready sensor, enabling easy upgrade to a smart lighting system. It integrates with Interact Ready luminaires featuring wireless drivers. The sensor's mounting height can range from 2.1 to 8 meters. Utilizing 2.4 GHz Zigbee technology, it provides reliable and secure communication with lights, triggering automatic responses to turn lights on or dim them based on occupancy detection and daylight variations. The sensor is designed for waterproof applications and is suitable for low to mid-bay heights.

Features and Benefits

Features

  • Motion sensor PIR for occupancy detection
  • Adjustable sensitivity
  • Minimum false trigger
  • Light sensor for daylight dependent regulation (DDR)
  • Infrared receiver module for IR remote control
  • Zigbee and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transceiver

Benefits

  • Automatic light control based on occupancy detection and daylight sensing
  • Adjustable sensor parameters for personalized lighting behaviors
  • Status indication via three built-in LEDs

Applications

Typical application areas include warehouses, parking garages, factories, locking docks, classrooms, auditoriums, libraries, gymnasiums, hospital corridors, patient rooms, lobbies, office corridors, and conference rooms.

The sensor is designed for surface mounting on ceilings, working with Interact Ready luminaires that have wireless drivers. The mounting height can range from 2.1 to 8 meters.

Dimensional Drawings

The sensor has a main body diameter of approximately 96.2 mm (3.79 in) and a height of 56.3 mm (2.21 in). Key dimensions include a height of 70.0 mm (2.76 in) from the base, with a depth of 37.6 mm (1.48 in) and a diameter of 40.0 mm (1.57 in) for the central dome. Mounting holes are indicated with a diameter of 4.5 mm (0.18 in). A cable exit point is shown with a diameter of 4.0 mm (0.16 in). The optional recessed mounting plate has a cable hole diameter of 6.3 mm (0.25 in) and a length of 300 mm (11.81 in).

Daylight Sensing

  • High accuracy of ambient light measurement from approximately 1 to 1500 lux at sensor level.
  • Closed loop daylight regulation.
  • Daylight fast report for calibration.

Field of View (Daylight)

The daylight sensing field of view is depicted as a cone. The diagram shows a minimum detection width of 0.75 times the mounting height (h) and a maximum width of h. The angle is indicated as 27 degrees. This coverage is applicable for mounting heights ranging from 2.1 to 8 meters (6.89 to 26.25 ft) at a temperature of 21 +/- 3 °C (70 +/- 5 °F).

PIR Occupancy Sensing

Note: As PIR based sensing works on the difference between subject's temperature and ambient temperature, the occupancy detection could vary due to clothing and size of the subject. The sensor detection area will decrease when the difference in subject's temperature and ambient temperature is approximately 5 °C or less.

Field of View (Motion)

The motion detection field of view with the lens shield is illustrated as a cone. For mounting heights (h) between 2.1 to 8 meters (6.89 to 26.25 ft), the detection ranges are shown as 1xh, 1.5xh, and 2xh. This is specified for ambient temperatures of 21 +/- 3 °C (70 +/- 5 °F).

Removing the lens shield expands the sensor's detection area. The field of view without the shield is also shown as a cone, covering ranges up to 1.5xh and 2xh for mounting heights of 2.1 to 8 meters (6.89 to 26.25 ft) at 21 +/- 3 °C (70 +/- 5 °F).

Lens Shielding Options

Lens shielding options allow for adjustment of the motion detection field of view. The 'Rectangle field of view' option is achieved by removing specific parts of the shield to create a rectangular detection pattern. The 'Hemisphere field of view' option is achieved by removing parts labeled (1) to achieve a hemispherical detection pattern (2).

Movement type Sensor mounting height Maximum sensor detection diameter (ratio of mounting height (H) and diameter (D)) H:D
Major movement2.1 to 8 m1:2
Minor movement2.1 to 5 m1:1.5

For example, at a 5-meter mounting height, the maximum detection diameter for major motion is 10 meters, and for minor motion is 7.5 meters.
