Safety Information

READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble, install or operate the product.

  • Do not discard fan carton or foam inserts. If the fan needs to be returned for repairs, it must be shipped in its original packaging for proper protection.
  • Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes, ordinances, the National Electrical Code, and ANSI/NFPA 70-1999. Consult a qualified electrician if unfamiliar with electrical wiring.
  • Ensure the installation site allows a minimum clearance of 7 ft. (approx. 2.13 m) from the blades to the floor and at least 30 in. (approx. 76.2 cm) from the end of the blades to any obstruction.
  • After installation, ensure all connections are secure to prevent the fan from falling.
  • The net weight of this fan, including the light kit, is 18.74 lbs (approx. 8.5 kg).

⚠️ DANGER

When using an existing outlet box, ensure it is securely attached to the building structure and can support the fan's full weight. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death. Outlet box stability is crucial for minimizing wobble and noise.

⚠️ WARNING

To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury:

  • Mount the fan to an outlet box marked "ACCEPTABLE FOR FAN SUPPORT OF 35 LBS. (15.9 KG) OR LESS" and use the provided mounting screws. Many outlet boxes used for lighting fixtures are not suitable for fan support and may need replacement. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
  • When mounting to a ceiling outlet box, use a METAL octagonal outlet box; do NOT use a plastic outlet box. Secure the outlet box directly to the building structure. The box and its support must be able to support the fan's moving weight (at least 35 lbs.).
  • Use gloves when handling fan parts with sharp edges to avoid personal injury.
  • Wire connectors provided are designed for one 12-gauge house wire and two fan lead wires. If your house wire is larger than 12-gauge or has multiple wires, consult an electrician for appropriate connectors.
  • Do not use the fan with any solid-state speed control device or control fan speed with a full-range dimmer switch.
  • Do not bend blade arms during installation, balancing, or cleaning. Do not insert objects between rotating blades.
  • Use ONLY provided parts. Using other parts will void the warranty.
  • Before installation, turn off electricity at the main switch or circuit breaker to avoid electrical shock.

⚠️ CAUTION

Ensure the outlet box is properly grounded and a ground wire (green or bare) is present. Before installation, carefully check all screws, bolts, and nuts on the fan motor assembly to ensure they are secure.

Tools Required (not included): Electrical Tape, Phillips Screwdriver, Pliers, Safety Glasses, Stepladder, Wire Strippers.

Helpful Tools (not included): AC Tester Light, Tape Measure, Do-It-Yourself Wiring Handbook, Wire Cutters.

Initial Installation

  1. Turn off circuit breakers or fuse and wall switch to the fan supply line leads. ⚠️ DANGER: Failure to disconnect power supply prior to installation may result in serious injury or death. [Diagram shows a circuit breaker switch in the OFF position.]
  2. Determine mounting method: A. Standard mount, B. Angle mount. Note: Flushmount and closemount options are not available. IMPORTANT: If using angle mount, ensure ceiling angle is not steeper than 19°. *Helpful Hint: Downrod-style mounting is best for ceilings 8 ft. high or higher. Angle-style mounting is best for angled or vaulted ceilings. [Diagram shows standard mount vs. angle mount with 19° max angle.]
  3. Check that blades (G) will be at least 30 inches (76.2 cm) from any obstruction. Check downrod (A) length to ensure blades (G) will be at least 7 ft. (2.13 m) above the floor. [Diagram shows clearance measurements.]
  4. Secure mounting bracket (C) to the outlet box (not included) using screws, spring washers, and flat washers provided with the outlet box. *NOTE: Use the proper hardware for the mounting bracket (C) as it supports the fan. IMPORTANT: For angle mount, ensure the open end of bracket (C) faces the higher point of the ceiling and the ceiling angle is not steeper than 19°. [Diagram shows mounting bracket installation for standard and angle mounts.]
  5. Remove preassembled motor screws (J) and lock washers (K) from the underside of motor housing (D). Discard any plastic motor blocks if present. Note: Keep loose hardware separate. [Diagram shows removing screws J and washers K from motor housing D.]
  6. Remove pin (L) and clip (M) from downrod (A). Partially loosen preassembled set screws in the yoke at the top of motor housing (D). [Diagram shows removing pin L and clip M, and loosening set screws.]
  7. Insert downrod (A) through canopy (B) and canopy cover (E). NOTE: Canopy cover (E) shiny side must face the motor housing (D). Thread wires from motor housing (D) through downrod (A). [Diagram shows downrod A passing through canopy B and cover E, with wires threaded.]
  8. Slip downrod (A) into motor housing yoke, align holes, and re-install pin (L) and clip (M). Tighten set screws in the yoke, then tighten the preassembled nuts on the set screws. [Diagram shows downrod A secured in yoke with pin L and clip M, and tightened set screws.]
  9. Depending on downrod length, you may need to cut lead wires. If cutting: Pull wires through the top of the downrod. Measure 8 inches (approx. 20.32 cm) of lead wire from the top of the hanging ball and cut excess with wire cutters. NOTE: If you do not cut wires, Steps 9 and 10 are not necessary; proceed to Step 11. [Diagram shows measuring and cutting lead wires.]
  10. If wires were cut, strip 1/2 in. (approx. 12.7 mm) of insulation from each wire (white, black, green, blue). Twist stripped ends together with pliers. [Diagram shows stripping and twisting wires.]
  11. Install hanging ball of downrod (A) into the opening of mounting bracket (C). Align one of the slots in the hanging ball with the tab in mounting bracket (C). ⚠️ DANGER: Failure to align slots with the tab may result in serious injury or death. [Diagram shows hanging ball slot aligning with bracket tab.]

Wiring

⚠️ WARNING: Use provided wire connectors (CC) for each connection, screwing them on clockwise. Ensure no bare wire or strands are visible. Place GREEN and WHITE wire connections on the opposite side of the outlet box from BLACK and BLUE connections. Push wires and connectors into the outlet box.
