Safety Information

READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Do not discard fan carton or foam inserts. If the fan needs to be returned for repairs, it must be shipped in its original packaging.
  • Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes, ordinances, the National Electrical Code, and ANSI/NFPA 70-1999. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring.
  • Choose an installation site that allows a minimum clearance of 7 ft. from the blades to the floor and at least 30 in. from the blades' ends to any obstruction.
  • After installation, ensure all connections are secure to prevent the fan from falling.
  • The net weight of this fan, including the light kit, is 16.53 lbs.

DANGER

When using an existing outlet box, ensure it is securely attached to the building structure and can support the fan's full weight. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death. Outlet box stability is crucial for minimizing wobble and noise.

WARNING

  • Mount the fan to an outlet box marked "ACCEPTABLE FOR FAN SUPPORT OF 35 LBS. OR LESS" and use the provided mounting screws. Most outlet boxes for lighting fixtures are not suitable for fan support and may need replacement. Consult an electrician if unsure.
  • Use a METAL octagonal outlet box; do NOT use a plastic outlet box. Secure the outlet box directly to the building structure. The box and its support must hold the fan's moving weight (at least 35 lbs.).
  • Wear gloves when handling fan parts with sharp edges to avoid personal injury.
  • Wire connectors are designed for one 12-gauge house wire and two fan lead wires. If your house wire is larger than 12-gauge or has multiple wires, consult an electrician for appropriate connectors.
  • Do not use the fan with any solid state speed control device or full-range dimmer switch, as this can cause humming and reduce fire/shock protection.
  • Do not bend blade arms during installation, balancing, or cleaning. Do not insert objects between rotating blades.
  • Use only provided parts. Using other parts will void the warranty.
  • Shut off electricity at the main switch or circuit breaker before proceeding to avoid electrical shock.

CAUTION

  • Ensure the outlet box is properly grounded with a green or bare ground wire.
  • Before installation, check all screws, bolts, and nuts on the fan motor assembly to ensure they are secured.

Estimated Assembly Time: 60 minutes

Tools Required for Assembly (not included): Electrical Tape, Phillips Screwdriver, Pliers, Safety Glasses, Stepladder, Wire Strippers.

Helpful Tools (not included): AC Tester Light, Tape Measure, Do-It-Yourself Wiring Handbook, Wire Cutters.

Initial Installation

  1. Turn off power: Turn off circuit breakers or fuses and the wall switch to the fan's supply line.
  2. Determine mounting method: Choose between Standard Mount or Angle Mount. Note: Flushmount and closemount options are not available for this fan. For Angle Mount, ensure the ceiling angle is not steeper than 19°.
  3. Check clearances: Ensure blades (G) will be at least 30 inches from any obstruction. Verify the downrod (A) length so blades (G) are at least 7 ft. above the floor.
  4. Secure mounting bracket: Attach the mounting bracket (C) to the outlet box (not included) using the screws, spring washers, and flat washers provided with the outlet box. Ensure you use the correct hardware as it supports the fan. For angle mounting, install the bracket with the open end facing the higher point of the ceiling.
  5. Prepare lead wires (optional): If desired, cut lead wires to simplify wiring. Pull wires through the top of the downrod. Measure 8 inches of lead wire from the top of the hanging ball and cut excess wire. If you do not cut the wires, skip steps 5 and 6 and proceed to step 7.
  6. Strip wires (if cut): If wires were cut in Step 5, strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the white wire. Twist the stripped ends together with pliers. Repeat for black, blue (if applicable), and green wires.
  7. Hang fan on bracket: Install the hanging ball of the downrod (A) into the mounting bracket (C) opening. Align one of the slots in the hanging ball with the tab in the mounting bracket (C). DANGER: Failure to align the slot and tab can result in serious injury or death.

Wiring

WARNING: Use quick connect clips designed for one 12-gauge house wire and one fan lead wire. Consult an electrician if house wires are larger than 12-gauge or if multiple house wires need connecting.

CAUTION: Ensure the outlet box is properly grounded with a ground wire (green or bare).

WARNING: Connect wires by color. If house wire colors differ from fan wire colors, stop and consult an electrician. Do not use a full-range dimmer switch, as it can cause humming and reduce fire/shock protection.

NOTE: This fan is remote control adaptable (remote control not included).

  1. Connect wires: Connect the WHITE wire from the outlet box to the WHITE fan wire using clip (DD). Connect the BLACK wire from the outlet box to the BLACK and BLUE fan wires using clip (DD). Connect the BARE/GREEN ground wire from the outlet box to the GREEN ground wire from the downrod (A) and mounting bracket (C) using clip (DD). Pull wires to ensure they are secure in the clips. WARNING: Never connect the ground wire to white or black power supply wires.
  2. Secure connections: Wrap electrical tape (not included) around each individual clip (DD) down to the wire. Ensure no bare wire or strands are visible. Place green and white connections on one side of the outlet box and black and blue connections on the opposite side. Gently push wires and clips into the outlet box.

Final Installation

  1. Attach canopy: Raise the canopy (B) toward the ceiling and allow it to attach to the mounting bracket (C) via the magnets.
  2. Attach blade arms: Insert the end of a blade arm (S) into the keyhole slot on the motor housing (D). Twist the blade arm (S) clockwise to lock it in place. Repeat for all blade arms.
  3. Remove/Reinstall blade arm (if needed): To remove, unscrew blade arm screws (T) and washers (U) from the motor housing (D), then remove the safety screw (V) and metal tab (W). Twist blade arm (S) counterclockwise. To reinstall, reattach the metal tab (W) with the safety screw (V), then reattach the blade arm wall to the motor housing (D) with screws (T) and washers (U).
  4. Attach blades: Align the preassembled blade screw posts (J) on blade arms (S) with the holes on a blade (G). Press the blade arm firmly up so posts (J) go through blade holes (G). Slide a three-C clip (BB) onto each blade screw post (J). WARNING: Ensure friction detents on the three-C clip (BB) face down and the recessed groove faces up. Slide clips (BB) under posts (J) so the groove captures the post ends. Repeat for all blades.
  5. Install Light Kit (if applicable): Remove finial (O), finial plate (I), rubber washer (Q), and hex nut (K) from the threaded rod at the bottom of the light kit fitter (F). Save for later use.
  6. Install bulbs: Install bulbs (H). CAUTION: Allow bulbs and glass shade to cool before touching when replacing.
  7. Attach Glass Shade: Place rubber washer (Q) inside the glass shade (P) over the center hole. Align the glass shade's center hole with the threaded rod on the light kit fitter (F), passing pull chains through corresponding holes. Gently push the glass shade (P) up until the threaded rod passes through. Ensure pull chains do not rub bulbs. Secure the glass shade (P) with hex nut (K). CAUTION: Do not overtighten hex nut (K) as glass may crack. Align the finial plate (I) center hole with the threaded rod, passing pull chains through. Thread the center pull chain through the finial (O) and tighten. CAUTION: Do not overtighten finial (O).
  8. Attach Pull Chain Extensions: Attach pull chain extensions (CC) or custom extensions (not included) to the fan and light pull chains. Assembly is complete.

Installing Fan Without Light Kit

  1. Remove switch housing cap: Remove the 3 switch housing cap screws (N) from the switch housing cap (M) on the motor housing (D). Gently pull down the cap (M). Locate wires labeled "FOR LIGHT" and disconnect the molex connections to detach the cap (M).
  2. Remove light kit fitter hardware: Remove hex nut (K) and lock washer (L) from the threaded rod at the top of the light kit fitter (F). Unscrew the switch housing cap (M) from the fitter (F). Carefully feed the BLACK and WHITE wires from the fitter (F) through the center hole of the cap (M).
  3. Install cap: Firmly insert cap (AA) into the center hole of the switch housing cap (M). Align holes in cap (M) with switch housing holes and retighten screws (N).
  4. Attach Pull Chain Extension: Attach pull chain extension (CC) or custom extensions (not included) to the fan pull chain.

Operating Instructions

  1. Fan Speed: The fan pull chain on the switch housing controls fan speed. One pull is HIGH, two is MEDIUM, three is LOW, and four turns the fan OFF.
  2. Light Control: If applicable, the light pull chain in the center turns the light ON or OFF.
  3. Fan Direction (Reverse Switch): Use the reverse switch on the switch housing to optimize performance for the season. In summer, a ceiling fan allows raising thermostat settings; in winter, lowering them, without affecting comfort. NOTE: Wait for the fan to stop before moving the reverse switch.
  4. Seasonal Operation:
    • Warmer Weather (DOWN position): Creates downward airflow for a cooling effect.
    • Cooler Weather (UP position): Creates upward airflow to move stagnant hot air from the ceiling area.
  5. IMPORTANT: The reverse switch must be set completely UP or completely DOWN for the fan to operate. If set in the middle, the fan will not work.

Care and Maintenance

  • At least twice a year, lower the canopy (B) to check the downrod (A) assembly and tighten all screws.
  • Clean the motor housing (D) with a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish.
  • Clean blades (G) with a lint-free cloth. For wood blades, a light coat of furniture polish can be applied for protection.
  • IMPORTANT: Shut off the main power supply before performing any maintenance. Do not use water or a damp cloth to clean the fan.
  • Bulb Replacement: Use up to 40-watt max. candelabra-base bulbs or 9-watt candelabra-base CFLs.

Troubleshooting
