Introduction
Welcome to your new Sharp SPC585 Projection Alarm Clock with Sleep Sounds. This device combines essential timekeeping functions with soothing sleep sounds and a unique time projection feature to enhance your bedroom experience.
Please read this manual carefully before using your clock to ensure proper operation and to familiarize yourself with all its features.
Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using.
- Do not use this appliance near water.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus that produce heat.

- Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
- Unplug this appliance during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.

Getting to Know Your Clock
Familiarize yourself with the controls and features of your SPC585 clock. The main controls are located on the top and front of the unit.
Top Panel Controls:
- SNOOZE/LIGHT/PROJECTION OFF: Press to snooze alarm, press and hold to cycle backlight brightness, press to turn off projection.
- SOUND: Press to play sleep sounds, press and hold to turn off sleep sounds.
- ALARM SET: Press to enter alarm setting mode.
- TIME SET: Press to enter time setting mode.
- ALARM ON/OFF: Slide switch to turn alarm on or off.
Front Panel Controls:
- VOLUME +/-: Adjust volume for sleep sounds or alarm.
- PROJECTION ON/OFF: Button to activate or deactivate time projection.

Setting Up Your Clock
Power Connection:
1. Connect the included AC adapter to the DC IN jack on the back of the clock.
2. Plug the AC adapter into a standard household electrical outlet.
Battery Backup:
1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the clock.
2. Insert 2 x AAA batteries (not included), observing correct polarity.
3. Close the battery compartment.
The battery backup will maintain the time and alarm settings in case of a power interruption. The display and projection will not function on battery power alone.
Setting the Time
1. Press and hold the TIME SET button until the hours digits flash.
2. Press the ALARM SET button (or VOLUME +/- buttons, depending on model variation) to advance the hours. Press and hold for faster advancement.
3. Press the TIME SET button again. The minutes digits will flash.
4. Press the ALARM SET button (or VOLUME +/- buttons) to advance the minutes.
5. Press the TIME SET button one final time to confirm and exit time setting mode. The clock will resume normal operation.
Note: Ensure AM/PM is correctly set if your clock has a 12-hour display.
Setting the Alarm
1. Press and hold the ALARM SET button until the alarm hours digits flash.
2. Use the ALARM SET button (or VOLUME +/- buttons) to set the desired alarm hour. Press and hold for faster advancement.
3. Press the ALARM SET button again. The alarm minutes digits will flash.
4. Use the ALARM SET button (or VOLUME +/- buttons) to set the desired alarm minutes.
5. Press the ALARM SET button one final time to confirm and exit alarm setting mode.
6. To activate the alarm, slide the ALARM ON/OFF switch to the ON position. The alarm indicator icon [bell icon ?] will appear on the display.
7. To deactivate the alarm, slide the ALARM ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. The alarm indicator icon will disappear.
To Snooze: When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT/PROJECTION OFF button. The alarm will silence for approximately 9 minutes.
To Stop Alarm: Press the ALARM ON/OFF switch to OFF.
Using the Sleep Sounds Feature
Your clock offers various soothing sounds to help you relax and fall asleep.
1. Press the SOUND button to cycle through available sleep sounds (e.g., ocean waves, rain, white noise).
2. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons.
3. To turn off the sleep sound, press and hold the SOUND button for 2 seconds.
Note: The last played sound and maximum volume level will be used if the alarm is set to wake to sound.
Using the Time Projection Feature
Project the current time onto your ceiling or wall.
1. Press the PROJECTION ON/OFF button on the front panel to activate the projection.
2. The time will be projected in a clear, readable format.
3. To turn off the projection, press the PROJECTION ON/OFF button again, or press and hold the SNOOZE/LIGHT/PROJECTION OFF button on the top panel.
Note: The projection angle may be adjustable on some models. Refer to specific product details if available.
Adjusting the Backlight
The display backlight can be adjusted to your preference.
1. Press and hold the SNOOZE/LIGHT/PROJECTION OFF button on the top panel.
2. Continue holding the button to cycle through the available brightness levels (e.g., Low, Medium, High, Off).
3. Release the button when the desired brightness level is reached.
Note: The backlight may also function as a dimming control for the projection.
Troubleshooting
Clock is not working:
- Ensure the AC adapter is securely plugged into both the clock and a working electrical outlet.
- Check the battery backup installation and polarity.
Alarm did not sound:
- Ensure the ALARM ON/OFF switch is set to ON.
- Verify that the alarm time is set correctly (AM/PM if applicable).
- Check the alarm volume setting.
Projection is not visible:
- Ensure the PROJECTION ON/OFF button has been pressed to activate it.
- Check that the room is dark enough for optimal visibility.
- Ensure the projection lens is clean.
Display is blank:
- Check power connection and battery backup.
- Try pressing the SNOOZE/LIGHT/PROJECTION OFF button to activate the backlight.
