Installation Instructions
This section details the step-by-step process for installing the CLARK 6431 fixture. The installation involves attaching a mounting plate to the junction box, connecting wires, and securing the fixture assembly. Key components include:
- (A) Mounting Plate: Attaches to the junction box.
- (B) Mounting Screws: Used to attach the mounting plate to the junction box.
- (C) Ground Screw: On the mounting plate for ground wire connection.
- (D) Wire Nut: For connecting electrical wires.
- (E) Fixture Mounting Screws: Used to attach the fixture assembly to the mounting plate.
- (F) Wood Screw: For securing to a wall anchor.
- (G) Wall Anchor: Inserted into the wall for mounting.
- (H) Fixture Assembly: The main body of the light fixture.
- (I) Bulb: The light source (Type G9 or MR16, max wattage specified).
- (J) Alabaster Shade: The decorative shade for the fixture.
- (K) Bulb Socket: Where the bulb is screwed in.
- (L) Switch: For turning the fixture on and off.
- (M) Wire Leads: Electrical wires from the fixture.
- Determine the location for the lamp. Using the mounting plate (A) as a template, mark the location of the holes for the wall anchor (G).
- Drill appropriate size holes for the wall anchor (G). The holes should be slightly smaller than the size of the anchors. Install the wall anchors (G) into the holes.
- Attach the mounting plate (A) onto the junction box using the mounting screws (B). Ensure the junction box is securely mounted to the structure of the building. Screw in the wood screw (F) to the wall anchor (G) if applicable.
- Attach the ground wire (Green) to the ground inside the outlet box (typically green or bare copper wire) or to the ground screw (C) on the mounting plate (A). NEVER CONNECT GROUND WIRE TO "HOT" WIRE! Failure to follow this could result in serious injury or death!
- Connect the white fixture lead (M) to the neutral (typically white) wire in the outlet box. Fasten the wires together with an approved fastener (wire nut) (D). Starting 1" below the fastener, tightly wrap the connection with electrical tape so that the connections seal the end of the fastener. Make sure there are no exposed wire strands that could cause a dangerous short circuit!
- Connect the black fixture leads (M) to the hot (typically black) wire in the junction box. Fasten the joined wires as in the previous step. NEVER REVERSE HOT AND NEUTRAL WIRES. Failure to follow this could result in serious injury or death!
- Attach the fixture assembly (H) to the mounting plate (A) and secure with the fixture mounting screws (E).
- Screw the bulb (I) and bulb (K) into the socket of the fixture. THIS FIXTURE IS RATED FOR MAX 6 WATT TYPE G9 LAMP AND MAX 8 WATT TYPE MR16 LAMP. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED WATTAGE!
- Screw the alabaster shade (J) into the fixture assembly (H).
- Adjust the angle of the fixture assembly (H) as needed with the swivel mechanism.
- Use the switch (L) on the fixture to turn it on and off.
- Restore power to the outlet at the breaker or fuse box.
