The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora water cooler for GeForce RTX 4XXX graphics cards is engineered to manage the substantial heat output of these high-performance GPUs. Compared to previous models, this cooler incorporates several optimizations, including an adjusted fin structure that promotes superior water flow and an expanded cooling surface. The inclusion of a modified jet plate with an enhanced inflow engine ensures that water is distributed evenly across the cooling fins for maximum heat dissipation.

Technical Highlights

The fin structure for this generation of Eisblock coolers was developed in collaboration with Nvidia board partners. It features a fin thickness of 0.4 mm and a 0.4 mm spacing between fins, which contributes to excellent water flow and an increased cooling surface. The jet plate's revised inlay design improves water pressure distribution across the fins, optimizing heat absorption. The adjusted water inflow angle further enhances cooling efficiency.

Chrome-plated copper

The cooler is constructed entirely from chrome-plated copper. This chrome plating is significantly harder than nickel plating, offering greater resistance to acids, scratches, and damage, thereby eliminating the risk of plating chipping. It also provides a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing shine compared to nickel plating. Chrome-plated coolers are typically found in industrial applications where components are subjected to extreme environmental conditions.

Design

The Aurora design for the GeForce RTX 4XXX Eisblock series is characterized by its understated and refined aesthetic. A single O-ring seals the entire cooler. The design around the cooling fins and jet plate contributes to a cleaner visual appearance. The chrome plating also enhances the diffusion of the digitally addressable RGB LEDs throughout the cooler. The terminal's design aligns with the established Aurora design language.

Thermal paste & thermal pads

The cooler includes Alphacool's Subzero thermal compound, which boasts a thermal conductivity of 16 W/mK, positioning it among the highest-performing thermal pastes available. Its electrical non-conductivity and viscosity of 850000 TF make it suitable for high contact pressures and easy application. For thermal management of the voltage converters and graphics memory, Alphacool Soft Pads with 1mm thickness and a thermal conductivity of 7 W/mK are utilized. The backplate of the PCB is equipped with 3mm thick pads that offer a thermal conductivity of 3 W/mK.
