Step 1: Check Compatibility and Prepare Graphics Card
Check Compatibility
Before starting the cooler assembly, compare your graphics card with the pictures in the Alphacool configurator. Visit https://www.hwconfig.com and search for your specific graphics card or cooler model. For definitive identification, compare the PCB number. The cooler is designed for a specific PCB layout. Graphics card manufacturers may revise designs, potentially affecting cooler fitment on later models. During assembly, ensure sufficient clearance for taller components and prevent the cooler from damaging the graphics card.
Alphacool International GmbH is not liable for assembly errors due to negligence, such as selecting an incompatible cooler.
Prepare Graphics Card
Place the hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin dismantling the original cooler. Depending on the cooler's structure, remove screws from the back of the card and carefully unhook the fan connector first. If the original cooler uses thermal glue, exercise extreme caution to avoid damaging components. Carefully collect all parts. Clean the hardware of thermal paste or pad residues using a solvent, such as isopropanol alcohol.
Step 2: Remove Spacers
Remove any necessary spacers from the graphics card as shown in the diagram. [Diagram showing spacer removal].
Step 3: Place Thermal Pads on Cooling Block
Carefully place the thermal pads (labeled A, B, C, D, E, F, G) onto the corresponding locations on the cooling block as indicated in the diagram. Ensure correct placement for optimal thermal transfer. [Diagram showing thermal pad placement on cooling block with labels A-G].
Step 4: Mount PCI Bracket
Use the original bracket and screws provided with the graphics card to mount the PCI bracket. [Diagram showing PCI bracket mounting with original screws].
Step 5: Apply Thermal Grease
Apply a small amount of thermal grease (provided) to the GPU die and other relevant components on the graphics card PCB. Distribute evenly. [Diagram showing thermal grease application].
Step 6: Install PCB
Carefully align the graphics card PCB with the cooling block. Secure the assembly using the provided screws (K) and washers (L) with the screwdriver (H). Ensure all screws are tightened appropriately. [Diagram showing PCB installation with screws K, washers L, and screwdriver H].
Repeat the process for any additional mounting points as shown. [Diagram showing further PCB installation steps].
Step 7: Place Thermal Pads on PCB Backside
Apply the thermal pads (labeled M, N, O, P) to the designated areas on the backside of the graphics card PCB. Refer to the diagram for correct placement. [Diagram showing thermal pad placement on PCB backside with labels M, N, O, P].
Step 8: Mount Backplate
Position the backplate onto the graphics card assembly. Secure it using the provided screws (Q) and the screwdriver (H). Ensure the backplate is firmly attached. [Diagram showing backplate mounting with screws Q and screwdriver H].
Step 9: Connect ARGB Lighting
Connect the ARGB lighting cable from the water block to your motherboard's ARGB header or an ARGB controller (e.g., Alphacool Eiscontrol, Aurora) using the provided ARGB adapter (R). Follow the diagram for correct connection. [Diagram showing ARGB connection to motherboard/controller].
Step 10: Screw in Screw Plugs
Install the G1/4 plugs (T) into the designated ports on the water block using the plug tool (S). Ensure they are securely tightened. [Diagram showing screw plugs installation with plug tool S].
