Installation Considerations
- For best results, Hansgrohe recommends that this unit be installed by a licensed, professional plumber.
- Please read over these instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Make sure that you have all tools and supplies needed to complete the installation.
- Keep this booklet and the receipt (or other proof of date and place of purchase) for this product in a safe place. The receipt is required should it be necessary to request warranty parts.
- Flush the hot and cold supplies thoroughly before installing the faucet. Damage to the faucet caused by debris is not covered under the warranty.
- The hot and cold supplies should be of equal pressure.
- Model 71501001, 71502001: The faucet should not be used with a continuous flow water heater.
- Strong light sources should not shine directly on the sensor window of the faucet.
- The faucet should only be used with the battery pack supplied by Hansgrohe. Do not attempt to use any other battery pack.
- The faucet incorporates automatic range adjustment – the sensor automatically adjusts itself to local conditions (lavatory, brightness, etc.).
- The distance between the switch on/off point to the faucet is approx. 6 1/2" - 8" under normal conditions. The detection area may be less for dark, non-reflective objects, or greater for bright, highly reflective objects.
- Drops of water or condensation on the sensor window may cause the faucet to run.
Electrical Service (For Vernis Blend 120 V Models)
The faucet includes a plug-in transformer to provide power for the faucet.
- The electrical connections should be made by a licensed, professional electrician and must comply with all applicable local codes.
- A code-approved electrical box (not included) with 110 V electrical service must be installed in a safe, dry, accessible location. It must be installed by a licensed electrician in compliance with all applicable local codes.
- The electrical supply must be equipped with an approved circuit breaker.
- This unit includes approximately 6 feet of cord.
Important Usage Notes
Hansgrohe recommends not to use as drinking water the first half liter (approximately 1 pint) flowing from the faucet in the morning, or after prolonged non-use.
Faucet Functions
Hygiene Rinse
The hygiene rinse opens the faucet for 10 seconds every 24 hours following the last use.
To enable or disable the hygiene rinse:
- Interrupt voltage supply of the faucet for approx. 10 seconds (disconnect electrical plug connection between faucet and battery housing and reconnect after 10 seconds).
- The LED blinks to indicate the software version (e.g., blinking once = software version 1).
- Permanent light from the LED indicates that calibration of the infrared proximity electronics is in progress. Wait for LED to go out.
- Cover sensor window completely with your hand or a white piece of paper.
- Remove your hand or the paper after 10 seconds.
- The currently enabled mode is indicated by the flashing of the LED: 1x = enabled, 2x = disabled.
Permanent Rinse
After setting the parameters for the hygiene rinse or making a net reset, wait for approx. 180 seconds before you can enable the "Permanent rinse" function.
- Cover the sensor window completely with your hand or a white piece of paper.
- The faucet opens briefly and then closes immediately. When the faucet opens again after approx. 5 seconds, remove the hand or the paper from the sensor.
- The permanent rinse is enabled for 3 minutes and can be interrupted at any time by a movement in the sensor range.
Thermal Disinfection
⚠️ Thermal disinfection must only be carried out by qualified personnel.
- Risk of scalding with thermal disinfection!
- The cold water stop must be closed during thermal disinfection.
- Afterwards, "Permanent rinse" can be enabled.
Net Reset
A "net reset" returns the faucet to the original factory settings.
- Interrupt the voltage supply to the faucet.
- Briefly reach into the sensor range of the faucet to discharge the capacitor.
- Wait for approx. 10 seconds, then plug the connectors in again.
- The faucet will re-adjust during the next 30 seconds. Do not reach into the sensor range during this period of time.
Diagram Descriptions
Dimensional Drawings and Tools
Visual representations show the dimensions for Vernis Blend (71502001/71503001) and Vernis Blend 120 V (71501001/71504001) faucets. Key dimensions include height (approx. 17"), spout reach (approx. 4 7/8"), and mounting hole diameter (approx. 1 1/4"). The required tools are listed as 10 mm, 17 mm, and 19 mm wrenches.
LED Indicator States
The LED is located in the sensor window. The states indicate:
- Continuously Lit: Battery is low, must be replaced. Faucet is not usable.
- Flashes: Battery is low, but the faucet is still usable.
- Off: No light indicates the faucet is off or functioning normally without low battery warnings.
Installation Steps
- Step 1-2: Place the faucet on the mounting surface and tighten the mounting nut and screws.
- Step 3a/3b: Connect the adapters to the water supply stops and connect the hoses to the adapters. Use two wrenches and ensure the supply lines do not twist.
- Step 4a: Install the battery (CR-P2 6V Lithium) into the battery housing, apply the adhesive pad, and place it on the wall.
- Step 4b: Install the plug and connect it to the power supply. Connect the battery box to the faucet. Use a cable tie to bundle excess cable.
- Step 5-6: Turn on the water at the stops. Connect to the power supply. Wait 35 seconds for the system to initialize. A STOP sign graphic indicates a waiting period.
- Step 7: Place a hand in front of the sensor. The water should turn on automatically.
Cycle Time and Flush Mode Adjustment
Flowcharts illustrate how to change the faucet's cycle time (e.g., 10s, 20s, 30s) and flush mode (e.g., OFF, 10s/24h, 20s/48h, 30s/72h) using the sensor and LED indicators. After adjustments, the faucet re-adjusts for approximately 30 seconds, during which the sensor area should not be accessed. A permanent rinse function can be activated after a 180-second wait.
Setting Temperature
The temperature can be adjusted using a 3 mm Allen wrench (SW 3 mm) inserted into a small opening near the sensor. The process involves turning the wrench to adjust between cold (blue indicator) and hot (red indicator) water flow.
Replacement Parts
Exploded view diagrams show the various components of the Vernis Blend and Vernis Blend 120 V faucets, with part numbers indicated for items such as the solenoid valve, aerator, battery housing, and hoses.
Cleaning the Sink
The cleaning process involves:
- Using a sponge on the faucet spout (approx. 10 seconds).
- Cleaning the sink basin (approx. 60 seconds).
- Rinsing the faucet (approx. 20 seconds).
- Final rinse of the sink (approx. 200 seconds).
Changing the Battery
Steps for changing the battery include interrupting power, disconnecting the battery housing, removing the old battery (CR-P2 6V Lithium), inserting the new battery, and reconnecting power. Voltage checks (e.g., <4.8 ± 0.2V) are indicated.
Cleaning the Aerator
Instructions detail how to disconnect the aerator, clean it, and reattach it. A STOP graphic indicates a waiting period (35 seconds) after reassembly.
Check Valve Maintenance
It is recommended to remove and check the check valves yearly. The process involves specific steps using 10 mm and 19 mm wrenches and disconnecting/reconnecting components.
