SilverStone XE04-4677/XE02-4677 CPU Heatsink Assembly Guide

Product Overview

The XE04-4677 & XE02-4677 are active heatsinks designed for the Intel LGA4677 socket.

Assembly Instructions

1. Processor Installation: Wear ESD gloves. Install the processor with the plastic carrier. Align the golden triangle mark on the carrier with the hollow triangle mark on the carrier. Align the key on the processor IHS cover and side. Push the processor and confirm the 4 clips are securely locked (See Figure 1 & 2). Ensure carrier latches are fully engaged with the keying slots on the processor edges and the processor is securely seated.
2. Heatsink Preparation: Remove the heatsink from its packaging and the protective cover of the Thermal Interface Material (TIM). Inspect the pre-applied TIM for any damage.
3. Heatsink Orientation: Identify processor Pin 1 and onboard socket Pin 1 to determine the correct heatsink installation direction. Note that Pin 1 location may vary on different motherboards (See Figure 3 & 4). The complete assembly of processor, carrier, and heatsink is referred to as the Processor Heat Sink Loading Module (PHLM) or Processor Heat Sink Module (PHM).
4. Bolster Plate Installation: Before assembling the PHM on the bolster plate, ensure all wires are in the unlocked position as per the sticker instructions. Install the PHM onto the bolster plate and move all wires to the locked position. Use a Torx T30 screwdriver to tighten each nut to 8 LBF-IN (0.904 N-M) (See Figure 5 & 6).
5. Fan Installation (XE04-4677): Install the heatsink cooling fan with the fan holder assembly onto the heatsink fin array. Ensure it is fully secured with the heatsink bracket. Tighten the single locking screw on top of the fan holder assembly to the heatsink. Plug the 4-Pin fan connector into a motherboard fan header (See Figure 7 & 8).
