Towbar Installation
- Remove the rear under tray, 10 Fixings. (The under tray can be trimmed as seen in sketch below then refitted after the Towbar Installation is complete or handed back to the customer).
- Remove the Towing eye from the N/S chassis member. (Hand back to customer).
- Identify Towbar mounting points and ensure chassis faces and threads are all clean and under seal free.
- Cut the central bumper tag and remove central bumper bracket.
- Hold up the o/s side arm (Item B) to the chassis member, mark the top plastic tray above exhaust and if necessary trim plastic to suit side arm.
- Using Item F with Item H bolt Items B and Item C to each correct chassis member.
- Using Item G bolt Item A between the side arms (Item B).
- Using Item G with Item J bolt Item D to Item A.
- Using Item E bolt your desired ball bracket and wiring plate (not supplied in this kit) to Item D.
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts ensuring Towbar is rigid square and secure.
- Refit under tray if required.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the assembly of the THY12 towbar system. It shows the main crossmember (A) and side arms (B) which attach to the vehicle chassis, secured by various bolts (E, F, G, J) and washers (H). Handed clamp plates (C) are also shown. An extension piece (D) connects to the crossmember. The diagram indicates specific areas on the vehicle's rear under tray and bumper that require trimming (marked with hatched patterns) to accommodate the towbar installation. It also shows the attachment of the ball bracket and wiring plate to the extension piece.
Notes
1. Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9 -139 Nm. (For other Torque Settings see notes overleaf.)
2. Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
