Installation Instructions
- Locate towbar mounting points and remove any mastic from around them.
- Using Item H with Item J, loosely bolt the two angle brackets (Item D) to the bottom face of each chassis.
- Using Item H with Item J, loosely bolt the handed side arms (Item B) to the outside face of each chassis, noting the correct arm for the correct side (refer to diagram).
- Using Item G, bolt Item B and Item D together but do not fully tighten at this stage.
- Using Item G with Item J, bolt Item A (Crossmember) between the handed side arms (Items B).
- Using Item F with Item K, bolt the extension bar (Item C) to Item A. NOTE: Vehicle models fitted with a black diffuser on the rear bumper may require Item C to be fitted on the rear-most setting.
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts and ensure the towbar is rigid, square, and secure.
- Ensure there is good clearance around the exhaust and Item A, and if needed, adjust the exhaust hanger to suit.
- Using Item E, bolt the ball bracket and wiring plate (not supplied in kit) to the mounting plate, and fully tighten.
Diagram Description
View from Rear of Vehicle, Showing Side Arms Bent Outwards: This diagram illustrates the assembly of the towbar components onto the vehicle chassis. The main Crossmember (A) is positioned between the two Handed Side Arms (B). The Angle Brackets (D) connect the Side Arms (B) to the underside of the vehicle chassis. The Extension Bar (C) attaches to the Crossmember (A). Various bolts, nuts, and washers (items E, F, G, H, J, K) are used to secure these components. The diagram shows the general placement and orientation of these parts during installation.
Important Notes
- Recommended Torque Setting: For M12 Grade 10.9 bolts, the recommended torque is 139 Nm. (Refer to overleaf for other torque settings if applicable).
- Load Limits: Always observe the nose load limits and the vehicle manufacturer's specified trailer/caravan weight limits.
