Test Method: Bacteria attached to a 1cm² stainless steel surface were irradiated with a UV lamp from 2cm away for 4 minutes, and the number of bacteria was measured. Test Results: 99% reduction confirmed compared to before UV irradiation. (Report No.: 2022FM01738R01D) (This is a test result for the UV sterilization unit alone.)
How it Works:
- 1. Dust Collection: Static electricity collects dust particles.
- 2. Dust Charging: Dust particles are charged by the plasma air purification unit.
- 3. Adsorption to Heat Exchanger: Charged dust adheres to the heat exchanger.
- 4. UV Irradiation: UV light sterilizes the collected dirt.
- 5. Discharge Outdoors: Dirt is flushed out with condensation water via the drain hose.
[Diagram Description: Shows the process of dust being collected by static electricity, charged, adsorbed to the heat exchanger, irradiated by UV light, and then flushed out with condensation water.]
This process keeps the heat exchanger clean, preventing performance degradation and eliminating the need for frequent filter cleaning.
Comfortable Airflow: The 'No-Wind' Experience
Toshiba's unique 'No-Wind' (無風感) air conditioning technology delivers comfort without direct drafts.
Separate No-Wind Louver
The louvers are split into two sections, allowing for independent control. This enables settings like 'No-Wind' on one side and regular airflow on the other, catering to individual preferences and room conditions. This feature is available for cooling, heating, air purification, and dehumidification modes.
[Diagram Description: Illustrates the 'Separate No-Wind Louver' with options for 'No-Wind Left', 'No-Wind Right', and 'No-Wind All'. It shows how airflow can be directed softly or strongly, or kept away from occupants.]
How 'No-Wind' Airflow is Achieved
The 'No-Wind' function utilizes a special louver that diffuses the airflow. The faster air from the 'No-Wind' louver mixes with the regular airflow, creating a gentle, diffused breeze that feels natural and comfortable.
[Diagram Description: Shows how the 'No-Wind' louver emits fast-moving air which then mixes with slower air, diffusing the overall airflow to create a soft breeze.]
Seasonal Comfort
- Cooling & Dehumidifying: Prevents direct drafts, ideal for those sensitive to cold air or dry skin.
- Heating: The 'No-Wind' mode uses a third louver to direct warm air towards the floor, providing gentle warmth without blowing directly on occupants, preventing overheating.
Test Results:
- Skin Moisture Retention: In 'No-Wind Cooling' mode, skin moisture decreased by only 1.1% after 90 minutes, compared to a 5.0% decrease in standard cooling mode. (Based on testing 10 women in a 7-tatami room.)
- Airflow Speed: Airflow speed below 0.2m/s confirmed at 2.5m from the unit and 60cm above the floor in 'No-Wind' mode.
Exceptional Energy Saving Performance
Toshiba air conditioners are designed for superior energy efficiency, meeting or exceeding standards.
Energy Saving Standard Achieved
Models in the V-DR series achieve the Energy Saving Standard for the target year 2027, offering excellent energy efficiency and comfort.
Intelligent Modes
- Economy Cooling/Heating (節電冷房/節電暖房): By detecting the closest person and adjusting airflow, these modes reduce power consumption while maintaining comfort. (Note: Detects one person only; accuracy may vary with position and environment.)
- Daytime Economy (日あたり節電): Uses a light sensor to monitor sunlight intensity and automatically adjusts operation to optimize energy use, especially during sunny periods.
Air Monitoring
An 'Air Monitor' feature uses a sensor to detect air quality, indicated by a lamp color, allowing users to see when air purification is active.
Antibacterial Features
Four layers of antibacterial processing are applied to key components, including filters, fan blades, louvers, and the remote control, to inhibit the growth of bacteria and maintain hygiene.
Advanced Features for Enhanced Comfort and Convenience
Radar Air Throw & Avoidance (レーダー風あて/風よけ)
This industry-first technology uses radar to detect people's presence and movement. It allows you to direct airflow precisely where needed ('Air Throw') or avoid directing air directly at people ('Air Avoidance'), ensuring personalized comfort. (Detects one person only; accuracy may vary.)
[Diagram Description: Shows the radar sensor detecting a person and directing airflow towards them or away from them.]
Circulator Function
The circulator mode uses independent louver movement to create a gentle, oscillating airflow, ideal for circulating air throughout the room year-round, even when used with dehumidification or air purification modes.
Auto Restart
In the event of a power outage, the air conditioner will automatically resume its previous operating settings once power is restored, providing continuous comfort and convenience.
UV Premium Clean Sterilization
UV light is used to sterilize the heat exchanger, further enhancing air quality and preventing the growth of microorganisms.
