Paslode IM200 F18 18 Gauge Cordless Finish Nailer
Model: IM200 F18 | Part No. 901000
Cleaning Procedure
Introduction
This procedure provides a simple but effective way to clean your Paslode Cordless tool and maintain reliable operation. Regular cleaning and lubrication will also extend part life and provide maximum nail driving power.
Only one tool is necessary to disassemble the Paslode Cordless tool in preparation for cleaning: a 9/64" hex key provided with the Paslode Cordless tool.
Paslode recommends that an aerosol "Degreaser Cleaner", such as Paslode Degreaser Cleaner (Part No. 219086), be used for cleaning. This cleaner is available through your local Paslode Dealer.
If a different type of Degreaser Cleaner is selected, make sure that it will not damage plastic and electrical parts. Chemical damage to electrical parts may result in the tool being made inoperable.
Required Items
- Screwdriver

Safety Precautions
⚠️ DANGER
Remove all fasteners, fuel, and battery prior to servicing the tool.
Cleaning Steps
Step 1: Disassemble Cap Assembly
Using the 9/64" Hex Key (#900736), unscrew four #8-32 x 1-1/4" long Socket Head Cap Screws and Washers from the Cap Assembly. Leave the screws in the Cap Assembly to avoid loss.
Step 2: Remove Cap, Filter, and Grill
Remove the Cap, Filter, and Grill as one assembly, and set aside. The Filter may be removed by lifting the Grill off the Cap. Clean the Filter with a mild soap solution, or replace if necessary.
Step 3: Unplug Electrical Connectors
Carefully unplug the Electrical Connector to the Fan Motor Circuit Board and the Spark Plug Wire.
Step 4: Separate Cylinder Head
Rotate the Cylinder Head Assembly counter-clockwise 1/8 of a turn and lift the cylinder head from the Motor Assembly. [Diagram shows rotation direction: ROTATE COUNTER CLOCKWISE]
Step 5: Access Areas for Cleaning
You have now separated the tool into the two major assemblies, allowing access to the areas that require periodic cleaning and lubrication.
Step 6: Apply Degreaser to Cylinder Head
Spray the Cylinder Head with Degreaser Cleaner. Allow the dirt and debris to drip off.
Step 7: Wipe Clean
Using a clean, lint-free rag, wipe off any remaining cleaner or dirt. Make sure the Seal Rings and Spark Plug are completely clean and clear of debris. Repeat Step 6 to remove any heavy deposits or remaining residue.
Step 8: Lubricate Seal Rings
Lightly lubricate the Seal Rings with 4-5 drops of Paslode Impulse® Oil, part #401482. Make sure oil is applied evenly around the Seal Rings. Set the Cylinder Head Assembly aside.
Note: Paslode Impulse Oil is specially formulated for use in the Paslode Cordless Tool. The use of other types of lubricants may cause rapid build-up of combustion residue or result in premature part failure.
Step 9: Position Piston Assembly
Push the Piston Assembly to the "down position" using a screwdriver handle or a clean piece of wood.
Step 10: Clean Motor Assembly Interior
Spray a liberal amount of Degreaser Cleaner into the inside of the Sleeve and Combustion Chamber. Invert the Motor Assembly, and let excess cleaner and dirt drain out.
Step 11: Wipe Motor Assembly Interior
Using a clean area of a lint-free rag, wipe off any remaining cleaner or dirt. Repeat Steps 10 and 11 to remove any heavy deposits or remaining residue.
Step 12: Lubricate Sleeve and Combustion Chamber
With Motor Assembly tilted up, squeeze 3-4 drops of Impulse Oil into Sleeve (Area "A") and 4-5 drops onto the lower lip of Combustion Chamber (Area "B") and apply 4-5 drops around the top of the Combustion Chamber (area C). Rotate Motor Assembly while oiling to ensure oil is evenly distributed around Sleeve and Combustion Chamber.
Note: Do not over oil the tool. Excessive oiling may cause staining of work surface.
Step 13: Distribute Oil
Hold Motor Assembly upright, and push down and release several times to allow oil on the lower lip of the Combustion Chamber to be evenly distributed.
Step 14: Distribute Oil in Sleeve & Reassemble
Manually push the Driver Blade up and down to distribute the oil in the Sleeve evenly.
Reassemble the Paslode Cordless tool following disassembly Steps 1-4, pages 2-3 in Reverse order.
Reassembly Note:
Before tightening Cap Screws, depress the nose of the tool down on its work contacting element to close the Combustion Chamber. Make sure the cylinder head is centered to the motor, and that the Cap Assembly does not pinch exposed wires. Cap Screws must be tightened securely.

⚠️ DANGER
Do not attempt to operate the tool unless the cap assembly is securely attached to the housing. Operating the Paslode Cordless tool with a loose or missing cap assembly can result in the escape of burning gases, tool damage, and injury to tool user and property.
NOTE
After the tool is completely reassembled and all screws are tightened, test the tool for proper operation. Some smoke may be noticeable from the exhaust ports on the first few cycles as excess oil is burned off. Consult the operating manual for instructions if the tool malfunctions.
Cleaning Interval Guide
This chart provides recommended cleaning intervals based on the condition of the tool and the number of fasteners driven per week.
Intervals based on Tool Condition and Fastener Usage:
- Very Dirty/Muy sucias: Intervals vary from 2-3 Days (for high usage) to Monthly (for lower usage).
- Dirty/Sucias: Intervals vary from Weekly to Every 2 Weeks.
- Moderate/Moderadas: Intervals vary from Monthly to Every 2 Months.
- Clean/Limpias: Intervals vary from Every 2 Weeks to Every 2 Months.
Note: M = 1000 Fasteners. The interval will vary depending on the number of nails driven per week and operating conditions. If the tool becomes excessively dirty, reduce the interval. If it is not dirty, increase the interval.
