Corston Architectural Detail
Using Smart Switches
Introduction
Corston smart modules are designed with maximum versatility in mind, offering a seamless integration into your home. Discover the benefits of using a smart module for enhanced control and convenience.
Features
- Separate Circuit Integration: Group circuits that are not wired together, allowing simultaneous use of separate systems and enabling "scene-setting functions" for pre-set lighting arrangements.
- Automations: Create custom conditions to trigger your lights, such as automatically turning off all lights when leaving the house or turning on outside lights at sunset.
- Dual Control: Control your lights using both a traditional toggle switch and your smart hub via voice activation or a smartphone.
- No Third-Party Apps: Integrated with Matter, all devices are managed within your smartphone's control centre, eliminating the need for additional app installations.
- Remote Management: Control your home's lighting remotely through your smart hub, even when away from home, helping to save energy by ensuring lights are not left on accidentally.
- Compatibility with Most Smart Hubs: Corston smart modules communicate via Thread, not WiFi, requiring a Thread Border Router for operation. Many smart hubs offer built-in Thread Border Router support.

- Follow the prompts within the app to add the hub as a device. If no prompt appears, navigate to 'Add device' and follow the instructions.
Installing Your Module
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure the power to the consumer circuit is switched off before commencing.
- A single module is required per circuit. Refer to specific module instructions for detailed wiring information.
- Select 'Add accessory' within your smart hub app.
- When prompted, scan the QR code located on the device or its provided sticker.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.
- Print the included sheet and affix the QR code sticker to it for future reference.
Automations & Scenes
Utilize your smart hub app to create custom combinations of variables and lighting settings. These may be referred to as "routines," "groups," or "timings" depending on your hub. Explore your device's prompts to configure these options. For assistance, please contact Corston.
Dual Control
Corston modules can be paired with retractive switches for wall-based light control. Consult the switches guide on the Corston website for detailed installation and maintenance information.
