European two-way dimmer
INSTRUCTIONS
Isolate the power supply at the consumer unit circuit breaker. Check that the power is off. These products must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the latest building regulations.
Features
- Suitable for one-way or two-way dimming and can be used with intermediate switches.
- Minimum brightness down to 5W of capacitive or resistive load, including dimmable LED and incandescent lighting.
- Minimum brightness level can be programmed.
- Built-in thermal cut-off and short circuit protection.
- Soft-start operation to extend bulb life.
- Complies with IEC EN60669.
Warning & Installation Information
Electric shock hazard. Hazardous voltage may be present at the output of the module. Take precautions and tag the input circuit before accessing the wiring connections. Failure to follow this warning can result in death or serious injury.
- The module should be protected by a 6A or up to 16A maximum circuit breaker.
- Two or more dimmers must not be connected to the same circuit.
- Multiple compatible loads can be used per circuit, as long as it is within the maximum wattage ratings for the dimmer. A maximum of 15 lamps per circuit is recommended.
Multi-Gang Derating
For applications where dimmers are multi-ganged, derate the maximum load rating of the unit according to the derating table below:
Dimmers | Max. load per dimmer (TE) | Max. load per dimmer (LE) |
---|---|---|
x1 | 250W | 120W |
x2 | 225W | 125W |
x3 | 200W | 100W |
Technical Specifications

Setting the Minimum Brightness
To set the minimum brightness:
- Turn the dimmer dial to the minimum position.
- Use a screwdriver to adjust the dial, increasing brightness until the desired minimum is reached.
Dimming Modes
The dimmer supports two dimming modes:
- Leading Edge (LE): Select this mode for compatibility with specific loads.
- Trailing Edge (TE): Select this mode for compatibility with specific loads.
The mode can be set manually by the user.
Wiring Diagrams
Note: Some lamps may exhibit unexpected performance characteristics when cold. Dimming performance should improve after the lamp warms up. If the lamp begins to flicker or there are dimming issues, the dimmer may need to be changed from TE to LE mode or vice versa.
One-Way Wiring Diagram
Diagram showing a single dimmer connected to live (L) and neutral (N) supply. The dimmer controls a maximum of 15 lamps.
Two-Way Wiring Diagrams
Example 1
Depicts a two-way switching setup. The dimmer is connected to live (L) and neutral (N). A two-way switch is wired in conjunction with the dimmer for control from two locations. Maximum 15 lamps.
Example 2
Another two-way setup. The dimmer is connected to live (L) and neutral (N). A second two-way switch is wired in parallel with the first for control from two locations. Maximum 15 lamps.
Three-Way Wiring Diagrams
Example 1
Illustrates a three-way switching setup. The dimmer is connected to live (L) and neutral (N). An intermediate switch and a two-way switch are wired in series with the dimmer for control from three locations. Maximum 15 lamps.
Example 2
Another three-way setup. The dimmer is connected to live (L) and neutral (N). An intermediate switch and a two-way switch are used for control from three locations. Maximum 15 lamps.
