Smart Akuvox Intercom E12 Quick Guide

Unpacking

Before using the device, please check the version you obtained and ensure that the following items are included in the shipped box:

Product Overview

The Akuvox E12 Smart Intercom features the following components:

  • Microphone
  • Photosensitive Sensor
  • White Light LED
  • Camera
  • Card Reader (Except E12N model)
  • Call Button

Installation Environment

⚠️ Warning: Please do not place the device under direct sunlight, as it may cause damage or malfunction due to high temperature.

If installing the device indoors, please keep the device at least 2 meters away from light sources and at least 3 meters away from windows and doors.

Avoid the following conditions:

  • Backlight
  • Direct sunlight
  • Direct sun through window
  • Indirect sunlight through window
  • Close to light

Installation

Follow these steps for installation:

  1. According to the position of the reserved wires on the wall, stick the wall-mounting template vertically to ensure that the wires can come out of the template's designated position. Drill four screw holes with a depth of 25mm (6 mm drill bit required) in the screw holes of the template.

  2. Insert four plastic wall anchors into the drilled holes.

  3. Fix the wall-mounting bracket on the wall by tightening four ST4x20 crosshead screws into the plastic wall anchors.

  4. Connect the wires to the interface of the device as needed (refer to "Device Wiring" for details). After arranging the wires, tighten the wiring cover to the device using four M3x4 crosshead screws.

  5. Insert the sealing pad into the wire opening as indicated in the figure, pushing it upward to ensure a tight seal of the opening.

  6. Hang the device on to the two square hangers on the wall-mounting bracket. Then, use the Torx wrench attached to tighten the bottom of the device with two M3x6 Torx head screws.

  7. The installation is completed.

Application Network Topology

The diagram illustrates the network connectivity for the Akuvox E12, showing connections to a SIP Video Phone, a PC (third party), and an Indoor Monitor, all integrated via a Local Area Network (LAN) typically using Power over Ethernet (PoE) or Passive Optical Network (PON) where applicable.

Device Wiring

The device wiring terminals include:

  • Power Adapter: 12V, GND
  • Door Lock: X, NO, COM, NC
  • Relay Output: COM
  • Wiegand: WG_D1, WG_DO, GND (for Wiegand Card Reader)
  • Input B: GND
  • Input A: GND
  • Connections for DOOR B, Exit B, DOOR A, Exit A are also indicated.

Warning

⚠️ Warning: When you connect a device containing a coil, such as a relay or an electromagnetic lock, it is necessary to protect the intercom against voltage peak while switching off the induction load. For this way of protection, a diode (1A / 200V, included in the accessories) connected antiparallel to the device is recommended.

Wire Length & AWG Table

Please follow the properly measured wire gauge/length to install the device:

IP Announcement

Follow these steps for IP announcement:

  1. While E12 starts up normally, hold the Call Button for several seconds after the LED light turns blue. The voice system will enter IP announcement mode.
  2. In announcement mode, the IP address will be announced periodically.
  3. Press the Call Button again to exit the announcement mode.
  4. In announcement mode, the phone announces "IP 0.0.0.0" if no IP address is gained.

Operation

Make a call:

  1. Press the Call Button to call the indoor SIP Phone.
  2. During the talk, the called party can press a pre-configured code number to unlock the door.

Receive a call:

E12 supports Auto Answer by default. Incoming calls from the indoor device will be answered automatically.

Configuration

Follow these steps to configure the device via its Web UI:

  1. Access the Web UI: Input the IP address into a web browser to configure the phone.
  2. Account Registration: On the web UI, navigate to the path: Account > Basic page > Register Account and fill in the account information. (Please refer to the user manual for more information).
  3. Configure the Push Button: On the web UI, navigate to the path: Intercom > Basic > Push Button to configure the call number.
  4. Configure the code to open the relay: On the web UI, navigate to the path: Intercom > Relay&Input > Relay ID/DTMF and choose the DTMF code number in the corresponding area.

The status indicator lights provide information about the device's current state:
