STEP 1 – PREPARING TO MOUNT THE CAMERA
- The mounting surface must withstand five times the camera weight.
- Ensure cables do not get caught in improper places or damage the electric line cover, which could cause a short or fire.
- CAUTION: These installation instructions are for qualified service personnel only. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not perform internal work beyond operating instructions unless qualified.
- This product is intended for supply by a UL Listed Power Supply Unit marked “Class 2” or “LPS” or “PS2”, rated 12 Vdc, 0.83A min or PoE (802.3af), 0.27A min (for 1/2.8” sensor size).
- The wired LAN hub providing Power over Ethernet (PoE) in accordance with IEEE 802.3af must be a UL Listed device with output evaluated as a Limited Power Source (UL60950-1) or PS2 (UL62368-1).
- The unit is intended for installation in Network Environment 0 (IEC TR 62102); associated Ethernet wiring should be limited to inside the building.
- To install, remove the dome by loosening the three (3) screws on its base using the included wrench. Remove the protection film between the dome and the camera module.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE BUBBLE. CleanView™ Hydrophobic Dome Coating has been applied to the dome.
- Remove the existing moisture packet and insert a new one. The camera generates heat to dry moisture during operation. Keep the moisture absorber in the camera for up to six (6) months if a moisture issue occurs.
- Using the mounting template sheet or the camera itself, mark and drill the necessary holes in the mounting surface.
Resetting the camera: With the camera powered ON, press the reset button for five (5) seconds to initiate a camera-wide reset of all settings, including network settings.

STEP 2 – POWERING THE CAMERA
Pass the wires through and make all necessary connections.
Diagram illustrating two cabling options:
- Option 1 (Recommended): Use a PoE Switch or PoE Injector to connect data and power to the camera using a single Ethernet cable.
- Option 2: Use a non-PoE Switch to connect data using an Ethernet cable and a power adapter to power the camera.
Power Requirements and Consumption:
Model | Power Requirements | Power Consumption |
---|---|---|
DWC-MVC8WiATW DWC-MPVC8WiATW | DC 12V, PoE (IEEE 802.3af Class 3). (Adapter not included) | DC12V: 9W PoE: 11.52W |
DWC-MVC8Wi28TW DWC-MPVC8Wi28TW | DC 12V, PoE (IEEE 802.3af Class 3). (Adapter not included) | DC12V: 10W PoE: 13W |
STEP 3 – INSTALLING THE CAMERA
- Attach the camera to the mounting surface using the included anchors and screws.
- To mount the camera using the mounting bolt and screws:
- Secure the mounting screws to the camera’s base.
- Use the mounting nuts to secure the camera to the mounting surface.
- Adjust the camera’s tilt and angle by loosening the tilt screw at the base of the camera module. Tighten the screw once the adjustment is complete.
- Assemble the dome cover over the camera body. Align the dome and bottom case to match the case outline.
- Remove the protective film from the dome. Softly wipe the dome with lens tissue or a microfiber cloth to remove any dust or smudges.

NOTE: Be careful not to alter the position of the camera module.
STEP 4 – CABLING AND EXTERNAL DEVICES
- Network cable - To connect an RJ45 cable to the camera:
- Option A (Recommended): Remove the grommet plug, pass the network cable through the grommet at the base of the camera, and then add the RJ45 connector.
- Option B: Attach the included RJ45 installation tool to the network cable, remove the grommet plug, pass the network cable through the grommet (paying attention to direction), and then remove the installation tool.
Once the network cable is passed through the grommet, insert the grommet into the bottom of the camera base.
NOTE: Bending the cable may cause water leakage.
NOTE: Use a cable with a diameter of ø0.19” ~ ø0.31” (ø5.0 ~ ø8.0mm). Depending on the installation environment, remove the rubber plug on the side of the camera’s base and use the gap as a cable guide to prevent cables from getting caught between the camera and the mounting surface.
- Power - If using a non-PoE switch, connect the camera to an adequate power adapter.
- Sensor/alarm input and output - Connect an external sensor input and alarm output to the camera’s terminal block.
- Audio input - Use the camera’s audio-in port to connect a microphone or the “line out” port of an amplifier.
