Safety and Warning Information
Warnings: Serious injury or death may occur if warnings are neglected.
Cautions: Injury or equipment damage may occur if cautions are neglected.
Warnings
- Comply with national and regional electrical safety regulations. Ensure wall/ceiling mounted devices are firmly fixed.
- Use only the specified standard adapter. Using other adapters may cause fire, electric shock, or product damage.
- Verify the power supply voltage is correct before use.
- Incorrect power connection or battery replacement may cause explosion, fire, electric shock, or product damage.
- Do not connect multiple cameras to a single adapter; this can cause excessive heat generation or fire.
- Securely plug the power cord into the power source to prevent fire.
- Fasten the camera securely during installation to prevent personal injury from falling.
- Avoid installation in locations with elevated temperature, low temperature, or high humidity to prevent fire or electric shock.
- Do not place conductive objects (e.g., screwdrivers, coins, metal items) or water-filled containers on the camera to prevent injury from fire, electric shock, or falling objects.
- Do not install in humid, dusty, or sooty locations to prevent fire or electric shock.
- Avoid installation near heat sources like radiators, heat registers, or other heat-producing products.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and heat radiation sources to prevent fire.
- If unusual smells or smoke occur, stop use immediately, disconnect power, and contact a service center.
- If the product does not operate normally, contact a service center. Do not disassemble or modify the product.
- When cleaning, do not spray water directly onto the product to prevent fire or electric shock.
Cautions
- Use proper safety gear during installation and wiring.
- Do not drop objects on the product or apply strong shock. Keep away from excessive vibration or magnetic interference.
- Do not use the product near water.
- The product should not be exposed to dripping or splashing; do not place liquid-filled objects on it.
- Avoid aiming the camera directly at extremely bright objects like the sun, as this may damage the image sensor.
- The main plug serves as the disconnect device and must remain readily operable.
- Remove the power adapter during lightning to prevent fire or product damage.
- Do not block ventilation openings. Install according to manufacturer instructions.
- A polarized or grounding-type plug is recommended. Consult an electrician if the provided plug does not fit your outlet.
- Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, especially at plugs and where it exits the product.
- If laser equipment is used nearby, ensure the sensor surface is not exposed to laser beams, which can damage the sensor module.
- Turn off power before moving or reinstalling an installed product.
- Proper configuration of passwords and security settings is the installer's/end-user's responsibility.
- For cleaning, use a clean, soft cloth. Cover the lens cap when not in use to protect from dirt.
- Do not touch the camera's lens or sensor module with fingers.
- Use only manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories.
- Always use hardware (screws, anchors, bolts, etc.) compatible with the mounting surface and of sufficient strength for a secure mount.
- Use only with manufacturer-specified carts, stands, tripods, brackets, or tables.
- Unplug the product when using a cart. Use caution when moving cart/product combinations to avoid tip-over injuries.
- Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is needed for damage, liquid spills, objects falling into the product, exposure to rain/moisture, abnormal operation, or drops.
Installation Steps
STEP 1 – Preparing to Mount the Camera
Note: These instructions are for qualified service personnel only. Do not perform internal work unless qualified.
This product requires a UL Listed Power Supply Unit rated 12 Vdc, 1.1A min or PoE (802.3at) 0.37A min.
PoE power must be supplied by a UL Listed device compliant with IEEE 802.3at, evaluated as a Limited Power Source (UL60950-1 or UL62368-1).
The unit is intended for installation in Network Environment 0 (IEC TR 62102), meaning Ethernet wiring should be limited to inside the building.
Remove the sun-shield cover as needed for installation.
Moisture Packet Installation
Install the moisture packet in the camera's external control panel:
- Remove the Desi-Pack moisture absorber from packaging.
- Open the side cover to access the external camera control panel.
- Place the moisture absorber under the camera’s SD card slot.
Note: The camera generates heat to dry moisture during operation. Keep the absorber in place if moisture issues are possible. It has an approximate 6-month life cycle.
Warning: Install the moisture absorber to prevent moisture buildup, which can cause image performance issues and damage the camera.
Using the mounting template or the camera, mark and drill necessary holes in the wall or ceiling.
Resetting the Camera
Press the reset button on the external control panel for five (5) seconds to reset all settings, including network settings.
Diagram Description: The external control panel includes a Reset Button.
STEP 2 – Powering the Camera
Pass wires through and make necessary connections.
Connections:
- PoE Switch or Injector: Use an Ethernet cable for both data and power.
- Non-PoE Switch: Use an Ethernet cable for data and a power adapter for power.
Power Requirements and Consumption
Power Requirements: DC12V, IEEE 802.3at PoE+ class 4 (Adapter not included)
Power Consumption: DC12V: 10.2W, PoE: 16W
Note: A PoE injector is required and sold separately.
Waterproof Cap and Cable Connection
The waterproof cap set includes two rubber rings. Use the ring best suited for your network cable's diameter:
Note: Ensure the o-ring is in place between components 'a' and 'b' for a moisture seal. Outdoor-rated sealer is recommended for extreme environments.
Connection Steps:
- Pass the LAN cable through the waterproof cap, gasket, and the appropriate rubber ring ('a').
- Connect the LAN cable to the camera’s network port ('b').
- Affix component 'c' to 'b' with a quarter turn counter-clockwise.
- Thread and twist component 'd' tightly to 'c'.
Note: Cables with 4.5mm to 5.5mm diameter should use the black rubber ring. Cables over 5.5mm should use the white rubber ring.
Note: To prevent cables from getting caught between the camera and mounting surface (which can cause damage and prevent flush mounting), remove the rubber plug on the camera's bracket side and use the gap as a cable guide, depending on the installation environment.
Mounting Components

- Enter a new username and password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters. Passwords cannot contain the user ID.
- Click "change" to apply the new password(s).
Configuring Camera Settings:
- Double-click a camera's image or click the 'Click' button under the 'IP Conf.' column to open its current network settings.
- Adjust settings as needed.
- To access the camera's web page, click 'View Camera Website' from the IP Config window.
- To save changes, enter the camera's admin username and password and click 'Apply'.
Network Configuration:
Default TCP/IP: DHCP. This allows the camera to receive an IP address automatically from the DHCP server.
Static IP: Select "Static" to manually enter the IP address, (Sub)Netmask, Gateway, and DNS information. The camera's IP must be static when connecting to Spectrum® IPVMS. Consult your network administrator for details.
Note: Port forwarding must be configured on your network router to access the camera from an external network.
STEP 7 – Web Viewer
Note: GUI display may vary by camera model. Some menu options may not be available depending on the camera model.
Note: Chrome browser is recommended for IVA configuration.
- Locate the camera using DW IP Finder.
- Double-click the camera's view in the results table.
- Press 'View Camera Website'. The camera's web viewer will open in your default web browser.
- Enter the username and password set up in DW IP Finder. If a new password was not set, you will be prompted to set one to view video.
- When accessing the camera for the first time, install the VLC player for web files to view video.
Note: A 32-bit version of VLC player is required. If using a 64-bit system, uninstall the 64-bit version and install the 32-bit version.
