ADDITIONAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, unless supervised or trained by a responsible person.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance must be grounded. Grounding reduces electrical shock risk by providing an escape wire for current. It has a cord with a grounding wire and a 3-prong plug. Plug into a properly grounded outlet. If the outlet is 2-prong, replace it with a properly grounded 3-prong outlet. The serial rating plate indicates voltage and frequency. WARNING: Improper use of the grounding plug can result in electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service agent if grounding instructions are unclear. Do not connect to extension cords or other appliances in the same outlet. Do not splice the power cord. Never cut or remove the third ground prong. Do not use ungrounded extension cords or adapters. If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazard.

Installation Instructions

LOCATION

  • Two people should move the appliance.
  • Remove interior and exterior packaging. Wipe the outside with a soft, dry cloth and the inside with a lukewarm, wet cloth.
  • Place on a floor strong enough to support it when fully loaded.
  • Do not place in direct sunlight or near heat sources (stove, heater) as this increases electrical consumption. Extreme cold can also cause improper performance.
  • Do not use near water (e.g., wet basement, near sink).
  • Intended for household use only. Not for outdoor installation or in un-temperature-controlled areas (garages, porches, vehicles).
  • Before connecting to power, let the appliance stand upright for approximately 6 hours to reduce potential cooling system malfunctions from transport.
  • Dimensions: 44.9 cm (17.7 in) wide x 51 cm (20.1 in) high x 50.3 cm (19.8 in) deep. Ensure adequate space between appliance and surrounding walls/vents.
  • Allow 12.7 cm (5 inches) of space between the back, sides, and top of the appliance and adjacent walls.
  • Intended for free-standing installation only. Building it into a cabinet or counter can cause malfunction.

Operating Instructions

FEATURES

  3. Bottle Rack: For tall, small, and medium cans or jars.
  4. Magnetic Gasket: Tight fitting door seal keeps cooling power locked inside.
  5. Leveling Leg: Adjust to ensure the unit is level.
  6. Defrost Water Outlet (not pictured): Ice automatically thaws and drains through this outlet.
  7. Thermostat Dial (not pictured): Controls interior temperature.
  8. Interior Light (not pictured)

THERMOSTAT DIAL AND INTERIOR LIGHT

The thermostat dial and interior light housing are located on the inner ceiling of the appliance.

TEMPERATURE SELECTION

Adjust temperature by turning the thermostat dial on the ceiling.

  • Larger, darker dots indicate the coldest setting.
  • Smaller, lighter dots indicate the warmest setting.
  • The "OFF" position turns off the cooling function.

Internal temperature can vary based on ambient temperature, quantity of items stored, and door opening frequency.

INTERIOR LIGHT

The interior LED light turns on when the door opens and off when closed.

If the interior light burns out, contact a Danby certified service technician for replacement. ? Note: Appliance functionality is not affected if the light is burned out.

LEVELING INSTRUCTIONS

An adjustable leg at the bottom ensures the appliance is level.

  1. Turn the leveling leg counter-clockwise as far as it will go, until the foot touches the cabinet bottom.
  2. Slowly turn the leveling leg clockwise until the appliance is level.

DOOR REVERSAL INSTRUCTIONS

If the appliance is placed on its back or side for an extended period, allow it to remain upright for 6 hours before plugging in to avoid internal component damage.

  1. Remove two screws from the back of the worktop. Lift and pull the worktop forward to remove. Transfer the worktop hinge hole cover from the left side to the right side hinge hole. (See Figure 1).
  2. Remove the screw from the door spindle cover. Remove the upper right hinge and door from the chassis. Remove the door spindle from the upper right hinge. (See Figure 2).
  3. Remove the lower hinge hole cover from the bottom left side of the door and move it to the bottom right side. (See Figure 3).
  4. Remove the adjustable foot and two screws holding the bottom hinge. Move the bottom hinge to the left side of the chassis and install with screws. Install the adjustable foot on the left side and move the solid foot to the right side. (See Figure 4).
  5. The upper left hinge is in the accessory bag. Install the door spindle on the upper left hinge. Install the upper left hinge and door onto the chassis. Install the door spindle cover with a screw. Reinstall the worktop by placing it on top, pushing it backward until it clicks, then reinstall the two rear screws. (See Figure 5).

Note: When reinstalling the door, ensure its top is level with the chassis top and the rubber gasket seals properly all around.

Care & Maintenance

CLEANING

Ensure the appliance is unplugged before cleaning.

  • Interior: Use a soft cloth with a solution of 1 tbsp baking soda per quart of water or a mild detergent solution.
  • Shelves: Wash removable shelves in mild detergent, then dry and wipe.
  • Exterior: Clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
  • Door Seal Area: Keep clean with a soapy cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry.

? Note: Do not use ammonia or alcohol cleaners, as they can damage the finish. Never use commercial, abrasive cleaners, or sharp objects.

POWER FAILURE

Most power failures are short and should not affect temperature if the door is opened minimally. For extended outages, take steps to protect contents.

? Note: Wait 3-5 minutes before restarting if operation was interrupted.

DEFROST

This appliance has automatic defrost. Defrost water is channeled to a drip tray above the compressor, where it evaporates due to heat transfer.

VACATION

  • Short Vacations (less than 3 weeks): Leave the appliance operating.
  • Long Vacations (several months): Remove all items, turn off the appliance. Clean and thoroughly dry the interior. Leave the door slightly ajar to prevent odors and mold.

MOVING

  • Remove all contents.
  • Tape shelves securely.
  • Turn adjustable foot up to the base to prevent damage.
  • Tape the door shut.
  • Ensure the appliance remains upright during transport. Protect the exterior with a blanket.
  • If placed on its back or side during transport, allow it to stand upright for 6 hours at destination before plugging in to avoid internal damage.

DISPOSAL

This appliance is not regular household waste. Take it to an appropriate collection point for recycling electrical components. Contact your local waste removal agency or government office for information on collection points.

Warranty Information

LIMITED "CARRY IN" WARRANTY

This quality product is warranted against manufacturer's defects in material and workmanship, provided it's used under normal operating conditions. This warranty is for the original purchaser only and is non-transferable.

CONDITIONS OF WARRANTY

  • Plastic Parts: Warranted for thirty (30) days from purchase date.
  • First 12 Months: Functional parts found defective will be repaired or replaced at warrantor's option, at no charge to the original purchaser.

TO OBTAIN SERVICE

Contact the dealer where purchased or the nearest authorized Danby service depot. Service must be performed by a qualified technician. Service by unauthorized personnel voids warranty. Purchaser is responsible for transporting the appliance to/from the service depot. Transportation charges are not covered.

This warranty does not imply responsibility for spoilage or damage to food or other contents due to appliance defects or misuse.

EXCLUSIONS

This warranty excludes all other warranties, conditions, or representations, express or implied. Danby is not responsible for personal injury or property damage, including the unit itself, or consequential damages arising from malfunction. By purchasing, the user agrees to indemnify Danby against claims for such damages.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Warranty does not apply if damage or repair is caused by:

  1. Power failure.
  2. Damage during transit or moving.
  3. Improper power supply (low voltage, defective wiring, fuses).
  4. Accident, alteration, abuse, misuse (e.g., inadequate air circulation, abnormal operating conditions).
  5. Commercial or industrial use.
  6. Fire, water damage, theft, war, riot, acts of God (hurricanes, floods, etc.).
  7. Service calls for customer education.
  8. Improper installation (e.g., building-in, outdoor use not approved for the environment).

Proof of purchase date is required for warranty claims. Retain sales receipts.
