Installation
The MIMO7272DN is designed for 19" rack installation, occupying one HE (Height Unit). It generates heat, so it should not be installed in a completely airtight manner or exposed to extreme temperatures. Ensure free air circulation through the unit's ventilation openings by leaving one HE space above and below the installed device. For racks with multiple amplifiers or enclosed cabinets, forced ventilation (fans) is recommended to dissipate heat effectively.
Connections
Power Connection
The unit operates with a universal voltage input (90-264V AC, 47-63Hz) thanks to its over-dimensioned power supply. A power switch is located on the rear panel, and a front panel LED indicates operation.
Analog Audio Inputs
Features 8 balanced analog inputs (IN 1 to 8) on Euroblock connectors, supporting Line and Mic signals. Signal type selection and control are managed via EclerNet Manager.
Analog Audio Outputs
Provides 8 balanced analog outputs (OUT 1 to 8) and 2 balanced MONITOR outputs on Euroblock connectors, with line level. Unbalanced connections are supported by not connecting the "Pin -" terminal.
Digital DANTE™/AES67 Audio Inputs and Outputs
The MIMO7272DN supports 64 digital DANTE™/AES67 audio channels for input and output over an Ethernet network. Routing and network configuration are managed by the Dante-Controller software. The unit has two RJ45 connectors for DANTE™/AES67 audio: PRIMARY and SECONDARY. These ports enable two operating modes: redundant operation (using two separate networks for failover) and switched mode (using an integrated network switch).
Ethernet Port for Programming and Control
The RJ45 ETHERNET port connects the unit to a local Ethernet network (LAN) for:
- Control via EclerNet Manager application (direct connection or via network).
- Integration with third-party control systems (Crestron, AMX, etc.) using Ecler TP-NET protocol.
- Remote control of EclerNet projects via user-definable graphical control panels (UCPs). The MIMO7272DN can act as a server for these UCPs or be controlled remotely by client devices.
RS-232 Port for Remote Control
The integrated RS-232 port with a DB9 connector allows communication with external devices using the TP-NET protocol. The serial connection requires specific settings: Baud rate 115200, 8 Data bits, None Parity, 1 Stop bit, and None Flow control.
GPI Ports for Remote Control
Eight GPI inputs on the rear panel accept 0-10 VDC signals for controlling functions like volume, mute, solo, or preset recall via external devices like potentiometers or switches.
GPO Ports for Remote Control
Eight GPO outputs (NO/NC relays) on the rear panel can be triggered by programmed functions (e.g., calendar events, UCP button presses) to control external equipment like projectors, lighting, or sirens.
Important Considerations
Ground Loops
To prevent unwanted hum, ensure that signal sources connected to the matrix inputs and the ground of connected output devices are isolated, so that no device has more than one ground path. Cable shields connected to the chassis should not be interconnected.
Background Noise
While designed to minimize background noise, proper handling and installation are crucial. Ensure adequate input gain and output level settings to maintain a good signal-to-noise ratio.
