Installation
The MIMO4040CDN is designed for 19" rack mounting, occupying one unit of height. Ensure adequate ventilation by leaving at least one rack unit free above and below the device. For installations in closed cabinets, forced ventilation is recommended.
Power Connection and Activation
The device operates on AC voltage from 90 to 264V, 47-63 Hz, with a universal power supply. An ON/OFF switch is located on the rear panel, with a front panel LED indicating operation.
Avoid running the power cord parallel to shielded audio cables to prevent hum.
Analog Audio Inputs
Features 8 balanced analog audio inputs (IN 1 to 8) supporting line or microphone levels. Signal type selection is managed via the EclerNet Manager application. Inputs use Euroblock connectors.
Connection:
- Vivo or direct signal: Terminal +
- Frío or inverted signal: Terminal -
- Masa (Ground): Terminal
For unbalanced connections, short the terminal - to ground.
Analog Audio Outputs
Provides 8 balanced analog audio outputs (OUT 1 to 8) and 2 balanced MONITOR outputs with line level. Outputs use Euroblock connectors.
Connection:
- Vivo or direct signal: Terminal +
- Frío or inverted signal: Terminal -
- Masa (Ground): Terminal
For unbalanced connections, leave terminal - disconnected.
Digital Audio Inputs and Outputs (DANTE™/AES67)
The MIMO4040CDN supports 32 channels of Dante™/AES67 digital audio input and output over an Ethernet network using the Dante™/AES67 protocol. Configuration is managed via the Dante Controller software. The device has two RJ45 ports labeled PRIMARY and SECONDARY for Dante™/AES67 connectivity.
Modes of Operation:
- Redundant Mode: Utilizes two simultaneous network connections for audio transport, providing failover. Both primary and secondary ports must be connected to separate, correctly configured networks.
- Switched Mode: Uses a single network connection, with primary and secondary ports acting as integrated network switch ports. Avoid connecting both ports to network switches simultaneously to prevent network loops.
Ethernet Port for Programming and Control
The ETHERNET port (RJ45) allows connection to a local Ethernet network (LAN) for management via EclerNet Manager, control by third-party devices (Crestron, AMX, etc.) using the TP-NET protocol, and UCP (User Control Panels) remote control.
Factory Default Network Settings:
- IP: 192.168.0.100
- Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gate: 192.168.0.1
- UDP Port: 2210
RS-232 Remote Control Port
The RS-232 port (DB9 connector) enables communication with external devices using the TP-NET protocol for querying and modifying device parameters. Serial connection requires specific baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, and flow control settings.
GPI Remote Control Ports
Features 8 GPI inputs for DC voltage control (0-10V). These can be connected to external devices like potentiometers or contact closures to control functions such as channel volume, mute/solo, or preset recall.
GPI connectors are Euroblock type. Wiring details are provided for various Ecler control panels.
GPO Remote Control Ports
Provides 8 relay outputs (NO/NC) that can be programmed via EclerNet Manager to interact with external equipment like projection screens, lighting, or sirens.
Considerations
Ground Loops
To prevent hum and maintain audio quality, ensure that signal sources and connected devices do not have interconnected grounds. Cable shields, if connected to chassis, should not be joined together to avoid ground loops.
Background Noise
The MIMO4040CDN is designed for minimal background noise. Proper usage and installation are crucial. Adjusting input gain correctly and maintaining appropriate output levels is important for optimal signal-to-noise ratio.

TP-NET Protocol Introduction
The TP-NET protocol allows client devices to query and modify internal parameters of compatible EclerNet devices, such as digital matrices, audio players, and amplifiers. Communication can occur via Ethernet (UDP/IP, port 5800) or RS-232. The protocol is textual and message-based.
RS-232 Communication Requirements:
- Baud rate: 57600 (fixed) or 115200 for specific models.
- Data bits: 8
- Parity: None
- Stop bits: 1
- Flow control: No
Wiring details for RS-232 DB9 to Euroblock connection are provided.
Messages are formed by fields separated by spaces. The first field (TYPE) defines the message type (SYSTEM, GET, SET, INC, DEC, SUBSCRIBE, UNSUBSCRIBE, DATA, ERROR).
Message Types:
- SYSTEM: Used for connection (CONNECT, DISCONNECT), subscription rate, PING, and PING INTERVAL.
- GET: Used to request information from the device (e.g., preset status, level, mute, VU-meter, GPI/GPO values, device info).
- SET: Used to configure device parameters (e.g., preset, level, mute, GPO values, virtual control).
- INC/DEC: Used to increment or decrement parameter values.
- SUBSCRIBE/UNSUBSCRIBE: Used to manage subscriptions for VU-meter data.
- DATA/ERROR: Sent by the device to the client to provide information or report errors.
Important Notes on Communication:
- Communication must start with a SYSTEM CONNECT or SYSTEM CONNECT ONCE message.
- SYSTEM CONNECT ONCE prevents a full device status dump.
- Communication can be terminated manually (SYSTEM DISCONNECT) or automatically after a period of inactivity.
- SET commands do not receive direct confirmation; use GET to verify changes.
- Numeric values are unsigned integers.
- [PINGPONG] parameter for communication verification.
- [ONCE] parameter to skip initial status dump.
