How to Change Spark Plugs on Fiat Panda 169

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the spark plugs on a Fiat Panda 169. The procedure is applicable to various Fiat models with 1.2L engines, including Palio, Punto, Siena, and Strada variants. Always ensure the engine is stopped before starting any work.

- High-temperature anti-seize lubricant
- Torque wrench
- Drive socket #10
- Spark plug socket #16
- Ratchet wrench
- Pincers
- Microfibre towel
- Fender cover

Replacement Steps
Step 1: Open the Hood
Open the hood of the Fiat Panda 169.
Step 2: Protect the Vehicle
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3: Disconnect Air Intake Pipe
Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter housing.
Step 4: Undo Air Filter Cover Screws
Undo the fastening screws of the air filter cover. Use a drive socket #10 and a ratchet wrench.
Step 5: Release Air Filter Cover Clips
Release the air filter cover clips.
Step 6: Remove Air Filter Housing
Remove the air filter housing.
Step 7: Cover Throttle Body
Cover the throttle body with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
Step 8: Remove Spark Plug Wire Connectors
Remove the spark plug wire connectors from the spark plug wells. Use pincers.
Step 9: Clean Spark Plug Wells
Clean dirt, dust, and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 10: Unscrew Spark Plugs
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16 and a ratchet wrench.
Step 11: Remove Spark Plugs
Take out the spark plugs.
Step 12: Lubricate New Spark Plugs
Apply a thin layer of a special high-temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Step 13: Install New Spark Plugs
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats. Use the spark plug socket #16.
Step 14: Tighten Spark Plugs
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten to 25 Nm torque.
Step 15: Install Spark Plug Wire Connectors
Install the spark plug wire connectors into the spark plug wells. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
Step 16: Remove Throttle Body Cover
Remove the microfibre towel from the throttle body.
Step 17: Reinstall Air Filter Housing
Reinstall the air filter housing.
Step 18: Screw in Air Filter Cover
Screw in the fastening screws of the air filter cover. Use a drive socket #10 and a ratchet wrench.
Step 19: Secure Air Filter Cover Clips
Press the air filter cover clips into place.
Step 20: Connect Air Intake Pipe
Connect the air intake pipe to the air filter housing.
Step 21: Remove Fender Protection
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 22: Close Hood
Close the hood.
Step 23: Test Engine Operation
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary to ensure the component operates properly.
Step 24: Shut Off Engine
Shut off the engine.
