Installation Instructions

Select Proper Backset

For use on doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" (35mm - 45mm).

Backset is the distance from the door edge to the center of the hole on the door face.

Standard backsets are 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm).

To adjust backset from 2-3/8" to 2-3/4": Pull the latch tail.

To adjust backset from 2-3/4" to 2-3/8": Push the latch tail.

Diagram shows a latch mechanism with the 'Latch Tail' indicated. Arrows show pulling or pushing the tail to adjust the backset between 2-3/8" (60mm) and 2-3/4" (70mm).

Template

Note: The template must be placed on the high edge of the door bevel.

CAUTION: If printed from a website, print at 1:1 scale. Measure dimensions for accuracy before use. ⚠️

Diagram shows a folded template with markings for different door thicknesses (1-3/8" and 1-3/4") and backsets (2-3/8" and 2-3/4"). It indicates where to mark the proper door thickness, where to mark the backset, and where to drill the 2-1/8" (54mm) hole on the door face. It also shows where to drill the 1" (25mm) hole in the door edge.

Step 1: Mark Door ✏️

Fold and apply the template to the high edge of the door bevel. Mark the center of the door edge as indicated on the template at your desired height from the floor (approximately 38" or 965mm).

Mark the center hole on the door face through the guide on the template for either the 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) backset.

Diagrams illustrate applying the template to the door edge and face, marking the center for the backset and door thickness.

Step 2: Drill Holes ड्रिल

Drill a 2-1/8" (54mm) hole through the door face at the marked center for the lockset. Note: Drill holes from both sides to prevent splitting.

Drill a 1" (25mm) hole in the center of the door edge, through to the 2-1/8" (54mm) hole, for the latch mechanism.

Diagrams show drilling the large hole on the door face with a hole saw and the smaller hole on the door edge for the latch.

Step 3: Install Latch ?

Insert the latch into the hole on the door edge, keeping it parallel to the face of the door. Mark the outline of the latch and remove it.

Chisel the mortise 1/8" (3.2mm) deep, or until the latch face is flush with the door edge.

Insert the latch back into the hole, keeping it parallel to the face of the door. Mark the two fastener holes. Remove the latch and drill pilot holes using a 1/16" (1.6mm) drill bit.

Using the provided screws, install the latch.

Diagrams illustrate inserting the latch, marking its outline, chiseling the mortise, drilling pilot holes, and securing the latch with screws.

Step 4: Install Strike

JAMB

Mark the template for the strike opening from the edge of the jamb. Move 1/4" (6mm) toward the door stop to locate the centerline for the screws and the 1" (25mm) hole. Ensure the strike is at the same height as the latch.

Bore a 1" (25mm) hole 1/2" (13mm) minimum deep into the door jamb on the centerline of the screws.

Match the screw holes on the strike with the centerline on the jamb. Outline the outside edges of the strike. Mortise 1/16" (1.6mm) deep.

Using the provided screws, install the strike. If a strike box is required, mount it under the strike as shown.

Diagrams show marking the jamb for the strike, drilling the hole, mortising, and installing the strike with screws, including an optional strike box.

Step 5: Install Exterior Lever

Insert the exterior lever with its spindle into the latch mechanism. Ensure that the stems are positioned correctly through the latch holes.

Press the lever flush against the door.

Diagram shows inserting the exterior lever with its spindle into the latch mechanism, with 'Connect Bar' and 'Spindle' labeled.

Step 6: Install Interior Lever

Turn the interior lever so that the assembly and rose can be placed onto the spindle. The interior lever must engage the exterior lever connect bar.

Press flush against the door.

Insert the provided screws through the holes and tighten them to secure the interior assembly.

Diagram shows placing the interior lever assembly onto the spindle and securing it with screws. 'Interior Assembly' is labeled.
