Lock Mechanism Description: The lock features die-cast rose supports with integrated thrubolts, a 1/2" throw stainless steel latchbolt with a pivoting front for flat and beveled doors, a heavy-duty torsion spring, and multiple keying options. The lever is designed with a Free Wheeling mechanism.

How to Order

The ordering process involves selecting Trim Design, Function, Latch, Strike, Cylinder, Door Thickness, and Finish. Standard configurations include the 380BN latchbolt for plain latchbolt functions and 380AN for deadlocking latchbolt functions. The Model No. 497 ANSI Strike (1-1/4" lip) is standard, with other options available. The 1803-47L cylinder is standard. Door thickness is adjustable from 1-3/4" to 2", with options for other thicknesses available upon specification.

Packing: Each box includes a strike, paper template, wood and machine screws, and instructions. Cylinder functions are supplied with two keys. Right-hand configuration is standard unless otherwise specified. Ten shelf boxes are packed per case.

Three lever trim designs are available:

  • Augusta AU: Lever made of Cast Zinc, Rose made of Wrought Brass.
  • Monroe MO: Lever made of Cast Zinc, Rose made of Wrought Brass.
  • Pacific Beach PB: Lever made of Cast Zinc, Rose made of Wrought Brass.

All lever trims are ADA compliant and can be ordered with large and small format interchangeable cores.

For doors that do not require locking. Either knob operates the latchbolt at all times.

For lavatory or privacy doors. Either lever operates latchbolt unless the outside lever is locked by an inside pushbutton. The button automatically releases when the inside lever is turned or the door is closed. Features an emergency release on the outside lever (emergency key supplied). The inside lever is always active.

For exit doors with limited entry. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates latchbolt unless the outside lever is locked by an inside pushbutton. The button automatically releases when the inside lever is turned or the door is closed. The inside lever is always active.

Entry Lock (5304LN / F82A)

For entrance or office doors. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates latchbolt, except when the outside lever is locked from the inside. Pushing the button on the inside lever locks the outside lever. This release occurs when the inside lever is turned or a key is rotated in the locked outside lever. The latchbolt is operated by key in the outside lever or by rotating the inside lever. The inside lever is always active.

Storeroom or Closet Lock (5305LN / F86)

For storeroom, utility, or exit doors. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. The latchbolt is operated by the lever inside and by key in the outside lever. The outside lever is always locked.

Service Station Lock (5306LN / F92)

For service station doors. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates the latchbolt. The pushbutton on the inside lever locks the outside lever. This release occurs automatically when the inside lever is turned, the door is closed, or a key is rotated in the outside lever (unless the slotted pushbutton is rotated 90 degrees clockwise to retain the outside lever in the locked position). The latchbolt is operated by key in the outside lever, and the inside lever is always active.

Entry Lock (5307LN / F109)

For entrance, general home, or office doors. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates latchbolt, except when the outside lever is locked from the inside. A turn button on the inside lever locks the outside lever, releasing automatically when the inside lever is turned or a key is rotated in the locked outside lever. The outside lever can be retained in a locked position by pushing and rotating the turn button 90 degrees clockwise to a horizontal position; it is not released until the turn button is manually returned to the vertical position. The latchbolt is operated by key in the outside lever or by rotating the inside lever. The inside lever is always active.

Classroom Lock (5308LN / F84)

For classroom or utility room doors. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates latchbolt, except when the outside lever is locked by key. The inside lever is always active, and a key releases the outside lever.

Communicating Lock (5321LN / F80)

For communicating or store entrance doors. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates latchbolt, except when a key in either lever locks or unlocks the lever independently of the other. Recommended for offices or rooms with multiple entries. (Note: Not available with I.C. core cylinders.)

Corridor Lock (5322LN / F90)

Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Either lever operates latchbolt, except when the outside lever is locked by an inside push-button or by key in the outside lever. The inside lever is always active. When locked by button, the button automatically releases when the inside lever is turned or the door is closed. When locked by key, the automatic release is made inoperative and must be manually unlocked by key.

Privacy Lock (5325LN)

For lavatory or other privacy doors. Either lever operates latchbolt, except when the outside lever is locked by an inside pushbutton. The button automatically releases by turning the inside lever or closing the door. The door can be unlocked, if necessary, by operating the outside turnbutton. No emergency key is required. An optional flush turnbutton is available for the outside; specify option "FTB".

Communicating Passage Lock (5328LN / F111)

For twin communicating or exit doors where one side operation is required. Also suitable when space is limited between the door and a switch panel. Features a deadlocking latchbolt and one-lever operation. Uses a blank rose. Recommended for rooms with more than one entrance.

For twin communicating or closet doors where one side operation is required or space between doors is limited. Features a deadlocking latchbolt. Electrified Options

Electric locks allow for remote electrical locking or unlocking of the outside trim. Fail Safe locks are used in stair towers for fire alarm release, while Fail Secure locks are used on perimeter or security doors for access control integration.

ElectroLynx®:

Yale electrified 5300LN locks feature ElectroLynx connectors, which link power from the source to electrified hardware like hinges, locks, exit devices, and strikes. Electrified hardware with ElectroLynx requires compatible lead wires attached to the door hinge.

Functions:

Fail Safe: Power applied locks the outside lever; inside lever is always active. Latchbolt is retracted by key when locked electrically. Free Wheeling lever when locked electrically.

Fail Secure: Power applied unlocks the outside lever; inside lever is always active. Latchbolt is retracted by key when power is off. Free Wheeling lever when power is off (locked).

Yale® KeyMark®:

KeyMark® cylinders offer protected key control to guard against unauthorized duplication, with a Security Leg® keyway for enhanced resistance to picking and impressioning. They can easily retrofit existing systems.

Security Cylinders:

These cylinders feature two independent locking mechanisms: a traditional 6-pin tumbler mechanism with spool drivers for picking resistance, and an innovative 5-tumbler rotating disc mechanism with sidebar engagement.

Other Manufacturer Keyway Cylinders:

The document lists compatible cylinders from other manufacturers like Best® and Schlage®, including adapter kits and specifications for various keyways and core types (SFIC, LFIC).

Latchbolts

The 5300LN Series is available with plain and deadlocking latchbolts, each with various front configurations, backsets, and throw lengths. Standard latchbolts include Model No. 380BN (plain) and 380AN (deadlocking), both featuring a 2-1/4" x 1-1/8" front, 2-3/4" backset, and 1/2" bolt throw. Optional latchbolts with greater backsets and backset extension links are available.

Attaching Screws: Standard screws are provided for latchbolt installation.

Strikes

Yale 5300LN locks are compatible with various strike options, including the standard Model No. 497 ANSI Strike. Other options include the Model No. 371 T-Strike (with curved lip), Model No. 497B Blank ANSI Strike, Model No. 70S Full Lip Strike, and Model No. 71S Full Lip Strike (with anti-rattle tab). Strike dimensions and lip lengths are detailed, with options for different door and frame preparations. Attaching screws for strikes are also specified.

Sample Specification

All locksets must be 5300LN Series Grade 2 Key-in-Lever Cylindrical Locksets. They shall feature heavy-gauge steel construction, be adjustable for door thicknesses from 1-3/8" to 2-1/4", and be non-handed for easy installation. Key features include separate anti-rotation through-bolts, no exposed mounting screws, solid one-piece cast levers (minimum 4-5/8" length), independent lever operation with return springs, and vandal-resistant Free Wheeling levers in the locked condition. Locksets must be UL 3-Hour Fire Rated, ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 2 certified, and meet ANSI A117.1 Accessibility Code requirements. A five-year mechanical warranty and a lifetime warranty against lever sag or spring breakage are standard.
