General Safety

This owner's guide contains important information about safety, use, and disposal. Familiarize yourself with all operating and safety instructions before use. Keep all documents for future reference and pass them on with the product.

Intended Use: This product is intended for indoor and outdoor air circulation in a window installation within the United States. It is not for commercial or industrial use. Unauthorized use or modification voids the warranty.

Risk to Children and Impaired Persons

Supervision is required for children 12 years and younger, and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities during installation, operation, cleaning, and maintenance. Ensure children do not play with the appliance, its parts, or packaging.

User Servicing Instructions (Fuse Replacement)

Note: Risk of fire. Do not replace attachment plug. It contains a safety device (fuse, AFCI, LCDI) that should not be removed. Discard product if attachment plug is damaged.

  1. Turn off the appliance using product controls.
  2. Grasp the plug (not the cord) and disconnect from the outlet.
  3. Replace fuse only with a 2.5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse approved by Vornado Consumer Service. Contact Vornado for authorized replacement fuses.
  4. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to slide open the fuse cover on the plug. (See Figure A: Fuse cover slide).
  5. Use the screwdriver to gently lift each end of the fuse to remove it. (See Figure B: Fuse removal).
  6. Install the replacement fuse by gently pushing each metal end into the receptacle one at a time. Do not push on the center of the fuse as it may break.
  7. Slide the fuse cover closed using the screwdriver. Ensure it fits completely and no part sticks out. (See Figure C: Fuse cover closed).
  8. Plug the appliance into the outlet and turn power on.
  9. If the replacement fuse blows, a short-circuit may be present. Discard the product or return it to an authorized service facility.

Battery Warnings

WARNING: Batteries may pose a choking hazard. Do not let children handle batteries.

Battery Disposal: Dispose of batteries according to local laws and regulations, keeping them away from children. Some batteries can be recycled. DO NOT DISPOSE OF BATTERIES IN FIRE, as they may explode or leak. New and used batteries can cause injury.

WARNING: Chemical burn hazard. Keep batteries away from children.

WARNING: KEEP NEW AND USED BATTERIES AWAY FROM CHILDREN. This product contains a lithium button/coin cell battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns and lead to death in as little as 2 hours. Always secure the battery compartment. If it does not close securely, stop using the product, remove batteries, and keep away from children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. Call the National Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222 or 202-625-3333.

Getting Started: Window Installation

Note: The TRANSOM is designed for single-hung and double-hung windows, accommodating windows 26 to 40 inches wide with a minimum window opening height of 8 inches.

FOR HORIZONTAL INSTALLATION ONLY. DO NOT ATTEMPT VERTICAL WINDOW INSTALLATION.

DURING PRODUCT AND FOAM BLOCK INSTALLATION, KEEP ONE HAND ON PRODUCT AT ALL TIMES.

  1. Keep the window screen in place if possible.
  2. Center the TRANSOM in the window, ensuring the foam on the bottom is snugly secured in the window casing.
  3. Close the window to secure the product.
  4. Tuck the optional Soft-Fit foam blocks on either side of the product into the window casing.
  5. Optional: Route the power cord as needed, using the provided clips to secure it.

WARNING - Choking hazard. Keep small parts, like clips, away from children and pets.

The control panel features the following:

How To Use

  1. Touch the [power button] to power the unit ON or OFF.
  2. Select desired speed by pressing the [speed up button] or [speed down button]. There are four speeds: 1- LOW, 2- MEDIUM, 3- HIGH, & 4- TURBO. The speed is indicated by the number on the display.
  3. Touch the [mode button] to change from direct airflow to exhaust. Touch the button again to change from exhaust to direct airflow.
    • DIRECT MODE: Air is circulated into the room.
    • EXHAUST MODE: Air is drawn out of the room.

    Note: When first plugged in and turned on, the unit defaults to DIRECT MODE. It will remember user settings when powered ON/OFF.

  4. The product includes an integrated thermostat. The indoor room temperature is displayed only when AUTO MODE is activated. Touch the [auto mode icon] to activate AUTO MODE.
    • Touch the [temperature up button] or [temperature down button] to set your ideal temperature between 60°F - 90°F. Holding either button for 3 seconds allows for quick temperature adjustment.
    • During adjustment, the temperature display will flash and then return to the current indoor room temperature.
    • Touch the [auto mode icon] again to deactivate AUTO MODE. The icon will turn white.

    Note: Temperature display is in Fahrenheit only.

    Note: The TRANSOM features auto-dimming controls. Non-essential lights turn off after a few seconds of inactivity, leaving only the power button illuminated. Touching the control panel or remote wakes the unit for adjustments and then dims again.

Remote Control

Remote Functions

  1. Press the [power button] to power the unit ON or OFF.
  2. Select desired speed by pressing the [speed up button] or [speed down button].
  3. Press the [mode button] to change from direct airflow to exhaust. Press again to change from exhaust to direct airflow.
  4. Press the [auto mode icon] to activate AUTO MODE. The icon turns green.
    • Press [temperature up button] or [temperature down button] to set your ideal temperature. Holding either button for 3 seconds allows quick adjustment up or down by 5 degrees per second.
    • During adjustment, the temperature display will flash and then return to the current indoor room temperature.
    • A single press of the [auto mode icon] button when AUTO MODE is active will change the display from room temp back to SET TEMP flashing if adjustments are needed.
    • Press the [auto mode icon] button twice to deactivate AUTO MODE. The icon turns white.

Note: The remote requires a line-of-sight path to the product. Position the unit so the receiver lens is visible from the remote control.

Battery Replacement

Screwdriver required.

Your remote uses one coin-style 3V CR2032 battery. The battery is pre-installed; remove the pull tab before first use. The pre-installed battery has an estimated 1-year life expectancy.

  1. For battery replacement, use one coin-style 3V CR2032 battery.
  2. Open the battery door on the back of the remote. You will need a #1 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the small screw.
  3. If necessary, clean battery contacts. Remove any plastic protection from the new battery.
  4. Place the battery in the remote with the '+' side facing out. Ensure correct polarity.
  5. Replace the battery door and screw.

Note: Remove the battery from the remote if not in use for an extended period. Always remove dead batteries immediately and replace with fresh ones. Do not store dead batteries in the remote.

WARNING: This product contains a button battery. If swallowed, it could cause severe injury or death in just 2 hours. Seek medical attention immediately.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning is necessary as the product moves a substantial amount of air.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of electrical shock and injury, unplug the unit before cleaning.

Regular Cleaning

  1. Unplug the unit before cleaning.
  2. Use the brush attachment on your household vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated dust.
  3. Wipe down the entire unit with a soft cloth.

Note: Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents, or other chemicals for cleaning. The motor is permanently lubricated and requires no oiling.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause and Solution
Unit fails to power on.
  • Unit is not plugged in. Plug power cord into electrical outlet.
  • Unit is damaged or needs repair. Cease usage, unplug, and contact Consumer Service.
  • Fuse needs to be replaced. Refer to "IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS" for fuse replacement or contact Consumer Service.
Unit is not producing sufficient amount of air.
  • Ensure unit is set to the highest setting for maximum air circulation.
  • Allow the unit time to fully circulate air throughout the room (may take several minutes).
  • Ensure all air inlets and outlet grilles are unobstructed.
Remote Control is not working.
  • The battery is dead. Replace with a new 3-volt CR2032 battery. Refer to "REMOTE CONTROL - Battery Replacement" for instructions.
  • The remote requires a line-of-sight path. Position the unit so the receiver lens is visible from the remote control.
Air is not moving in the desired direction.
  • Switch the direction of airflow from DIRECT to EXHAUST (or EXHAUST to DIRECT).
  • If the problem persists, turn the unit OFF and ON and adjust settings as needed.
Unit is on but there is no air moving.
  • Preset temperature in AUTO might be set too high. Lower the set temperature or turn AUTO off.

Vornado Air LLC ("Vornado") warrants this Product to the original consumer or purchaser to be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of purchase. If any such defect is discovered within the warranty period, Vornado will repair or replace the Product at no cost, at Vornado's discretion.

For warranty service: Call 1-800-234-0604 or email help@vornado.com to obtain a Return Authorization ("RA"). Please have your Product's model number and serial number, along with your name, address, city, state, zip code, e-mail, and phone number ready.

To file a contactless warranty claim, visit vornado.com/contact-us.

After receiving the RA form, ship your Product to: Vornado Air LLC Attn: Warranty & Repair, 415 East 13th Street, Andover, KS 67002. Packages must be clearly marked with the RA number. Please allow 2-3 weeks for warranty service and return of your Product.

This warranty does not apply to defects resulting from abuse, modification, alteration, mishandling, improper maintenance, commercial use, or repair by unauthorized personnel. It also does not cover damages from shipment or acts of God. Improper product use, including using external devices to alter voltage/frequency, or shipping to a country not intended for use, will void warranties. Unauthorized modifications or repairs also void warranties.

REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE CONSUMER. VORNADO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WARRANTY.
