1.2 Appliance Range of Use
Intended Use
The appliance is designed for cooling food products in domestic or household-like environments, including staff kitchens, bed and breakfast establishments, hotels, motels, and catering services. Any other use is not permitted.
Foreseeable Misuse
Forbidden applications include storing medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations, use in explosion-risk areas, use on moving substrates (ships, rail, aeroplanes), and storing live animals. Misuse may damage stored goods or cause spoilage.
Climate Classifications
The appliance is designed for specific ambient temperatures based on its climate classification (SN, N, ST, T), which is indicated on the rating plate. Adhering to these temperatures ensures proper operation.
1.3 Conformity
The refrigerant circuit has been tested for leaks. The appliance complies with directives 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU, 2009/125/EG, 2011/65/EU, and 2010/30/EU. The BioFresh compartment meets DIN EN 62552 standards for cold storage.

1.5 Installation Dimensions
Diagrams and a table provide installation dimensions (a-h) for different models (CBN(e f/bs)). Wall spacers increase dimensions by 15 mm.

1.6 Saving Energy
Ensure good ventilation, keep fan air slits clear, and avoid direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources. Energy consumption varies with ambient temperature. Open the appliance briefly, set temperatures appropriately, and keep food organized and packed.

1.8 Smart Device

2 General Safety Information
Danger for the User
This appliance can be used by children and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, provided they are supervised or instructed in safe use and its hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be done by unsupervised children. Children aged 3-8 may load/unload; those below 3 must be supervised. Always hold the plug, not the cable, when disconnecting. Pull the mains plug or deactivate the fuse in case of a fault. Do not damage the power cable. Repairs must be performed by qualified personnel. Keep instructions safe. Special lights (LEDs) are for interior illumination only.
Fire Hazard
The coolant is eco-friendly but flammable; leaks can ignite. Do not damage refrigerant pipes. Do not use open flames or ignition sources inside. Do not use electrical appliances for defrosting. If coolant leaks, remove ignition sources and ventilate the room. Do not store explosives or sprays with combustible propellants. Keep naked flames away. Store alcoholic drinks in tightly closed containers.
Danger of Tipping and Falling
Do not use plinths, drawers, or doors as steps or support, especially children.
Danger of Food Poisoning
Do not consume food stored too long. Avoid prolonged skin contact with cold surfaces; wear gloves. Do not consume ice cream or ice cubes immediately. Do not use steam cleaners or open flames for defrosting. Do not use sharp implements to remove ice. Be careful not to catch fingers in the door hinge.
3 Controls and Displays
3.1 Home Screen
The home screen is the primary interface for all settings. Functions are accessed by touching the screen.

3.2 Operating Structure
The appliance's operation is structured around compartment fields (Fridge, BioFresh, Freezer) which display temperature and allow settings adjustments.
3.3 Navigation
Navigation is done via touch screen using symbols: [MENU] to access options, [+/-] for adjustments, [<>] for navigation, [OK] to confirm, [ON/OFF]/[START/STOP] to control functions, and [RESET] for timers. A back symbol cancels selections.
3.4 Display Symbols
Symbols indicate appliance status: [Up arrows] for temperature increase, [Down arrows] for temperature decrease, [Standby] for switched-off zones, and [Messages] for active alerts.
3.5 Appliance Options
Various options can be selected, including SuperCool, SuperFrost, Sabbath Mode, Child Safety Device, and Temperature Unit (°F/%C). The BioFresh option is also available.
4 Putting into Operation
4.1 Transporting the Appliance
Transport the appliance in a packed, upright condition. Do not transport without assistance.
4.2 Installing the Appliance
WARNING: Ensure proper ventilation to prevent fire hazards due to dampness or short circuits. Do not operate outdoors or in damp areas. Avoid contact between the mains cable and the appliance's rear. Do not use extension cables or sockets near the rear. The coolant is flammable; do not damage piping. Do not place heat-emitting appliances on top. Keep ventilation openings clear. Avoid direct installation next to other refrigerators/freezers or in humid environments. Ensure adequate air ventilation, especially in kitchen units, by maintaining specified shaft depths and clearances. Remove protective film from surfaces. Stainless steel surfaces require specific care with soft cloths; avoid harsh cleaners.
Installation Diagram (Fig. 9): Report any damage to the delivery company. Ensure the installation site is horizontal and even, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Install with the rear panel against the wall, using wall spacers. Move the appliance only when empty. The supporting surface must be level. Room size requirements depend on coolant quantity (at least 1 m³ per 8g of coolant). Remove protective film from decorative trims and drawer fronts. Remove all transit supports. Use wall spacers for declared energy efficiency and to prevent condensation.
4.3 Reversing the Door
Instructions are provided for reversing the door, detailing the tools required (Torx T25, T15, slotted screwdriver, etc.) and step-by-step procedures for removing and refitting the top and bottom doors, including moving bearing parts and handles. This involves careful disassembly and reassembly of hinges, brackets, and covers.
4.4 Insertion into a Row of Kitchen Units
Diagrams and specifications (Fig. 27) show how to integrate the appliance into kitchen units, including requirements for top cupboards and clearances. Ventilation requirements for kitchen unit installations are detailed, emphasizing adequate air circulation for the compressor.
4.5 Disposing of Packaging
WARNING: Keep packing material away from children. Packaging is recyclable. Dispose of it at an official collection point.
4.6 Connecting the Appliance
WARNING: Connect properly to avoid fire hazards. Do not use extension cables or distributor blocks. NOTICE: Improper connection can damage electronics. Do not use standalone inverters or energy-saving plugs. Use only the supplied power connection lead. Ensure the power supply matches the appliance's rating plate, the socket is earthed and fused (10-16A), and easily accessible. The socket must be located outside the appliance's rear area. Connect the appliance plug to the socket and then connect to the power supply. The Liebherr logo will appear, and the display will switch to standby.
4.7 Switching on the Appliance
Note: If 'DEMO' appears, disable demo mode. The manufacturer recommends connecting and switching on the appliance about 2 hours before loading. To switch on, press the standby symbol. The appliance will then display the home screen and set temperatures. If the screen is black, touch it to activate the standby symbol and then press it.
4.7.2 Switching the Fridge and BioFresh Compartments On
If the standby symbol is visible in the fridge/BioFresh fields, press the standby symbol in the fridge compartment field to switch them on.
4.8 SmartDeviceBox
The SmartDeviceBox is pre-activated for WiFi. Access the WIFI menu for status (connected, connecting, disconnected) and settings. A WiFi reset option is available. The website www.smartdevice.liebherr.com/install provides setup instructions.
4.9 Inserting the FreshAir Filter
The FreshAir filter ensures optimum air quality and should be changed every 12 months. A timer will prompt replacement. Follow the instructions to remove the cover, insert the filter clockwise, and replace the cover. Confirm the filter change to reset the timer.
4.10 Setting the Clean Ventilation Grid Timer
A timer can be set as a reminder to clean the ventilation grid annually. Follow menu prompts to set and confirm the timer.
5 Control
5.1 Changing the Temperature Unit
The temperature display can be switched between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) via the menu.
5.2 Child Proofing
The child-proofing function prevents accidental switching off. It can be enabled or disabled via the menu.
5.3 Sabbath Mode
This mode complies with religious requirements for Sabbath/feast days by disabling certain electronic functions (indicator lamps, displays, alarms, fans). The thawing cycle operates on a fixed timer. After a power cut, the appliance reverts to Sabbath mode. A list of Star-K certified appliances is available at www.star-k.org/appliances.
5.4 Refrigerator Compartment
Temperature varies within the compartment. For optimal food refrigeration, keep air slits clear, store items appropriately (e.g., butter in upper areas, meat/fish at the bottom), use suitable containers, and avoid overcrowding for good air circulation.
5.4.1 Food Refrigeration
Energy consumption and cooling performance are affected by ventilation. Keep fan air slits clear. Store butter and preserves in upper areas and doors. Use recyclable containers. Store raw meat and fish in sealed containers at the bottom. Liquids and odorous foods should be covered. Use the front floor area only for temporary placement of cooled products.
5.4.2 Setting the Temperature
Temperature is influenced by door opening frequency, duration, room temperature, and food quantity. Recommended setting is 5°C. Adjustments are made via the fridge compartment field using [+] and [-] buttons.
5.4.3 SuperCool
Activates maximum cooling performance for rapid cooling of large food quantities. The fan may run, potentially increasing noise temporarily. Energy consumption is slightly higher. The running time can be set. SuperCool switches off automatically after the set time or can be stopped manually.
5.4.4 Shelves
Shelves have pull-out stops. Adjust height by moving slots along supports. Shelves can be dismantled for cleaning.
5.4.5 Using the Sectioned Shelf
Glass plates can be pulled out and supports repositioned for height adjustment. The glass plate with pull-out stops should be at the front.
5.4.6 Using Adjustable Bottle Shelf
An integrated bottle shelf or glass shelf can be used at the base. Bottles should be placed with the base facing the rear wall. Adjust lower door rack if bottles protrude.
5.4.7 Door Racks
Storage racks can be moved. Door racks can be dismantled for cleaning.
5.4.8 Using the Bottle Holder
The bottle holder can be slid to prevent bottles from tipping.
5.4.9 Egg Tray
The egg tray is removable and rotatable, allowing for marking different use-by dates. The top part is for chicken eggs, the bottom for quail eggs.
5.5 BioFresh Compartment
The BioFresh compartment keeps food fresh longer using controlled humidity. For foods with best-before dates, the packaging date applies.
5.5.1 DrySafe
Suitable for dry or wrapped food, establishing a relatively dry storage climate.
5.5.2 Fruit & Vegetable Safe
Humidity depends on stored items and door openings. It can be adjusted for high moisture (loose salad, vegetables) or low moisture (wrapped items).
5.5.3 Setting the Moisture Level in the Fruit & Vegetable Safe
Slide the bar to adjust humidity: backwards for low humidity (openings partially/fully open), forwards for high humidity (openings partially/fully closed).
5.5.4 Storing Food
Do not store cold-sensitive vegetables (cucumbers, aubergines, tomatoes, courgettes, tropical fruits) in BioFresh. Store unwrapped animal/vegetable products separately. Wrap food if space is limited. Shake off moisture from high-moisture foods. Select low moisture setting if compartment is too moist.
5.5.5 Storage Times
Tables provide recommended storage periods for various foods at low and high humidity levels.
5.5.6 Setting the Temperature in the BioFresh Compartment
Recommended setting is 5°C. The BioFresh temperature is automatically controlled between 0°C and 3°C. It can be adjusted from level 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest). Levels 1-4 can drop below 0°C, potentially freezing food.
5.5.7 Drawers
Drawers can be removed by lifting the back and pulling forward. Rails can be pulled out, and drawers attached and pushed in until they engage audibly.
5.5.8 Fruit & Vegetable Safe Cover
Instructions for removing and replacing the cover are provided, involving guiding ridges into brackets.
5.6 Freezer Compartment
Used for storing frozen food, making ice cubes, and freezing fresh food. The rating plate indicates maximum freezing capacity. Drawer capacity is 25 kg. Shelf capacity varies by model width. Closing the door creates a vacuum; wait a minute before opening. Do not freeze bottles and cans containing drinks as they may burst.
5.6.1 Freezing Food
Do not exceed specified quantities per pack for rapid freezing (e.g., fruit/vegetables up to 1 kg, meat up to 2.5 kg). Pack food in portions using suitable containers.
5.6.2 Storage Life
Tables provide standard storage life values for various frozen foods.
5.6.3 Thawing Food
Thaw food in the refrigerator, microwave, conventional oven, or at room temperature. Use thawed food quickly; refreezing is only recommended in exceptional cases.
5.6.4 Setting the Temperature
Temperature can be set from -26°C to -16°C. Recommended setting is -18°C. Adjustments are made via the freezer compartment field using [+] and [-] buttons.
5.6.5 SuperFrost
Activates maximum refrigeration for quick freezing. Activate 6-24 hours before freezing, depending on quantity. Wrap produce and spread it out. Do not let frozen produce touch unfrozen produce. SuperFrost switches off automatically after approx. 65 hours. It is not necessary to activate SuperFrost when placing small amounts of frozen food or freezing up to 1 kg fresh food daily.
5.6.6 Drawers
Ensure adequate ventilation. Drawers can be pulled out and lifted off shelves.
5.6.7 Shelves
Shelves can be removed by lifting the front and pulling out. Push back in to refit.
5.6.8 VarioSpace
Allows removal of shelves and drawers for more space for larger items. Capacity limits for drawers and shelves are specified.
5.6.9 Ice Cube Tray
Instructions for removing and dismantling the ice cube tray for cleaning are provided. Frozen cubes can be released by holding under hot water and gently twisting the ends.
6 Maintenance
6.1 Change the FreshAir Filter
The FreshAir filter should be changed every 12 months. A timer prompts replacement. Follow menu instructions to change the filter and reset the timer. The timer can also be turned off.
6.2 Defrosting with NoFrost
The NoFrost system automatically defrosts the appliance. The appliance does not require manual defrosting.
6.3 Cleaning the Ventilation Grid
The ventilation grid needs regular cleaning for optimal aeration. Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft cloth. A timer can be set as a reminder. Confirm cleaning to reset the timer or turn the timer off.
6.4 Cleaning the Appliance
WARNING: Do not use steam cleaners. NOTICE: Do not use concentrated, abrasive, sharp, or chemical cleaning agents. Do not damage the type plate or cables. Avoid water entering drain channels or electrical parts. Use soft cloths and pH-neutral cleaning agents. Clean plastic surfaces with lukewarm water and mild washing-up liquid. For painted side walls, use a soft cloth. For stainless steel, use a soft, clean cloth and mild detergent; avoid harsh cleaners. Most parts can be dismantled for cleaning. Clean drawers and the Fruit & Vegetable safe cover by hand. Other fittings can go in the dishwasher. Clean telescopic rails with a damp cloth only.
6.5 Customer Service
Check for simple faults first. Contact Customer Services if issues persist. Provide appliance name, service number, and serial number. Repairs not specified in the manual must be done by service personnel.
7 Malfunctions
This section details common malfunctions and their potential causes and solutions. It covers issues like the appliance not working, compressor running for a long time, excessive noise, vibration noises, DEMO mode activation, warm outer surfaces, and insufficient cooling. Solutions include checking power, ventilation, temperature settings, and ensuring the door is properly closed.
Customer Menu: Accessible via code 151, it offers Self diagnostics, RESET to factory settings, and Manual defrosting. Appliance information can be read from the model plate.
8 Messages
Error messages and reminders are displayed with audible signals and on-screen messages. Messages must be cleared individually. Common messages include:
- Door Alarm: Sounds if the door is open for over 60 seconds. Stops automatically when closed or can be manually silenced.
- Temperature Alarm: Indicates temperature is too high. Reasons include inserting warm food, prolonged door opening, power interruptions, or appliance faults. Check food quality and close the door.
- Power Cut: Signals a power interruption. Displays the warmest temperature reached. Check food quality and close the door.
- Appliance Faults: Displays an error code indicating a component fault. Note the code and contact customer service.
9 Decommissioning
9.1 Switching the Appliance Off
The appliance can be switched off via the menu or by turning off the freezer compartment field (which also turns off fridge/BioFresh). The child safety device may need to be deactivated first. After switching off, the standby symbol appears, and the screen goes black.
9.2 Taking the Appliance Out of Service
Empty the appliance, switch it off, remove the mains connector, clean it, and leave the door open to prevent odors.
10 Disposing of the Appliance
Dispose of the appliance professionally and appropriately according to local regulations. Ensure the refrigeration circuit is not damaged during disposal to prevent refrigerant escape. Disable the appliance, pull out the plug, and cut the connecting cable.
