1.1 Overview of the appliance and its equipment
The appliance is illustrated as an exemplary model. Shelves, drawers, and baskets are arranged for optimum energy efficiency as delivered. Adjusting the shelf positions does not impact energy consumption.

1.2 Appliance range of use
The appliance is designed for domestic or household-like environments, including staff kitchens, bed & breakfasts, hotels, and catering services. It is not suitable for built-in use or outdoor areas with high humidity or risk of explosion. Misuse can lead to spoiled goods.
Climate Classifications: The appliance operates within specific ambient temperatures based on its climate classification (SN, N, ST, T), indicated on the rating plate.
1.3 Conformity
The appliance complies with EU directives 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU, 2009/125/EC, 2011/65/EU, 2010/30/EU, and 2014/53/EU. The full EU Declaration of Conformity is available at www.Liebherr.com. The BioFresh compartment meets DIN EN 62552:2020 standards.
1.4 EPREL database
Information on energy labelling and ecodesign requirements is available on the European product database (EPREL) at https://eprel.ec.europa.eu/. You will need the model ID from the nameplate.
1.5 Installation dimensions
Refer to the diagram for installation dimensions (a-h). Specific measurements are provided in a table for the SBNes model. Wall spacers increase dimensions by 15 mm.

1.6 Saving energy
Ensure good ventilation by not covering vents. Keep fan air slits clear. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources. Energy consumption increases with ambient temperature. Open the appliance door for the shortest possible time. Lower temperature settings increase consumption. Keep food covered to prevent frost. Only remove food for necessary durations.
2 General Safety Information
Keep these instructions safe and pass them on. Read them carefully before use for safe and correct operation. Follow all instructions, safety advice, and warning messages.
[Warning] Danger for the user: This appliance can be used by children aged 3-8 and individuals with reduced capabilities if supervised or instructed. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance by children require adult supervision. Children under 3 must be kept away unless supervised. The socket must be easily accessible for disconnection. Do not pull the cable when disconnecting. In case of fault, unplug or deactivate the fuse. Do not operate with a damaged mains cable. Repairs must be done by authorized service personnel only. Assemble, connect, and dispose of according to instructions. Special lights (LEDs) are for interior illumination only.
[Warning] Fire hazard: The appliance contains flammable refrigerant. Leaking refrigerant can ignite. Only authorized service personnel should service the appliance.
[Warning] Danger of injury and damage: Avoid prolonged skin contact with cold surfaces. Do not consume ice cream or ice cubes immediately. Hot steam can cause injury; do not use electrical heating or steam cleaning equipment. Do not use sharp implements to remove ice.
Risk of crushing: Do not hold the hinge when opening/closing the door.
Symbols on the appliance: Symbols may indicate risks related to compressor oil (swallowing/inhaling can be fatal, relevant for recycling) or flammable materials. Do not remove these stickers.
Warning messages: DANGER (imminent hazard, death/serious injury), WARNING (hazardous situation, death/serious injury), CAUTION (hazardous situation, minor/moderate injury), NOTICE (property damage), Note (useful tips).
3 Controls and Displays
3.1 Home screen
The home screen displays the BioFresh and Freezer fields, showing temperature settings. The Menu field provides access to options.
3.2 Operating structure
The appliance is operated via touch controls. The BioFresh field shows its temperature setting and allows adjustments. The Freezer compartment field shows its temperature setting and allows adjustments.
3.3 Navigation
Use touch controls to navigate menus. Symbols include Standby (on/off), Menu (access options), Minus/Plus (adjust settings), and navigation arrows (select/navigate). OK confirms selections, Back cancels.
3.4 Display symbols
Up arrows indicate temperature increase, down arrows indicate temperature decrease. A standby symbol indicates the appliance or zone is switched off.
3.5 Appliance options
Various options like HydroCool, SuperFrost, SabbathMode, IceMaker, child safety device, and holiday function can be selected via the menu. Symbols indicate active options.
4 Putting into Operation
4.1 Transporting the appliance
Transport the appliance upright in suitable packaging. Do not transport alone.
4.2 Installing the appliance
[Warning] Fire hazard due to dampness: Ensure appliance is in enclosed areas, protected from splash water.
[Warning] Leaking coolant and oil: Flammable coolant and oil can ignite. Do not damage coolant circuit or compressor.
[Warning] Fire hazard and damage: Do not place heat-emitting appliances on top. Ensure good ventilation; keep vents unobstructed.
[Notice] Covered vents: Appliance can overheat if vents are blocked.
[Notice] Risk of damage due to condensate: For side-by-side installations, maintain a 70mm gap between appliances.
Ensure the installation site is level. Remove protective film. Use wall spacers for declared energy consumption and to prevent condensation. Align appliance using adjustable feet and a spirit level. For side-by-side units, follow specific instructions.
4.3 Reversing the door
Detailed step-by-step instructions are provided for reversing the door, involving removing and refitting hinges, soft stop mechanisms, cable connections, bearing parts, and handles. This process requires specific tools like Torx screwdrivers and an open-ended wrench.
4.4 Water connection
[Warning] Electricity and water: Disconnect from mains before connecting to water. Shut off water supply. Connection must be by a qualified engineer.
[Warning] Risk of poisoning: Water quality must comply with local ordinances. Connect only to drinking water supply. IceMaker is for household ice cubes only.
Ensure water pressure is between 0.15 MPa and 0.6 MPa. Use the supplied stainless steel hose. A stopcock must be provided. Do not damage the water supply line.
4.5 Sliding into the row of units
Instructions are provided for integrating the appliance into kitchen units, including required clearances and ventilation shafts. A top cupboard can be added to match unit height.
4.6 Disposing of packaging
[Warning] Danger of suffocation: Keep children away from packaging material. Dispose of packaging materials at an official collection point.
4.7 Connecting the appliance
[Warning] Failure to connect properly: Do not use extension cables or distributor blocks.
[Notice] Failure to connect properly: Do not connect to stand-alone inverters (e.g., solar power). Do not use energy-saving plugs.
Use only the supplied power cord. Connect the appliance plug to the power supply. The Liebherr logo will appear on the screen.
4.8 Switching on the appliance
Connect and switch on the appliance approximately 10 hours before loading it for the first time. If the standby symbol is displayed, press it to switch on. If the screen is black, touch it.
4.8.2 Switch BioFresh section on
If the Standby symbol appears in the BioFresh field, press it to switch the section on.
4.9 SmartDevice box
Instructions for setting up the SmartDevice box are provided, including connecting to a home network via Wi-Fi. Status indicators for Wi-Fi connection are described.
4.10 Inserting the FreshAir filter
The FreshAir filter should be inserted for optimum air quality. Instructions are given for insertion and replacement.
4.11 Setting the clean ventilation grid timer
A timer can be set as a reminder to clean the ventilation grid annually.
5 Control
5.1 Changing the temperature unit
The temperature display can be switched between °C and °F.
5.2 Child proofing
The child-proofing function prevents accidental changes by children.
5.3 SabbathMode
This mode is for religious requirements (Sabbath/festivals), disabling certain controls. It automatically returns to normal mode after 120 hours or a power cut. [Warning] If a power cut occurs during SabbathMode, check food quality as it may have thawed.
5.4 BioFresh compartment
The BioFresh compartment keeps food fresh longer. It includes DrySafe for dry/wrapped items and a Fruit & Vegetable safe where humidity can be adjusted.
5.4.5 Storage times
Tables provide guidelines for the shelf-life of various foods at 0°C with low and high air humidity.
5.4.6 Setting the temperature
Temperature can be set between 0°C and 3°C. Recommended setting is 0°C. Adjustments are made via plus/minus controls.
5.4.7 HydroCool
HydroCool rapidly cools large quantities of food, using slightly more energy.
5.4.8 Holiday mode
Saves energy and prevents odours when the appliance is not in use for extended periods. The freezer compartment remains operational.
5.4.9 Drawers with cushioners
Instructions for removing and refitting drawers.
5.4.10 Fruit & Vegetable safe cover
Instructions for removing and replacing the cover.
5.4.11 Shelf
Instructions for removing and refitting shelves for cleaning.
5.4.12 Using the sectioned shelf

5.5 Freezer compartment
Used for storing frozen food, making ice cubes, and freezing fresh food. Freezing capacity is indicated on the rating plate.
5.5.1 Freezing food
Guidelines for freezing food quantities and drawer/shelf load limits. Closing the door creates a vacuum.
5.5.2 Storage life
Tables provide standard storage life values for various frozen foods.
5.5.3 Thawing food
Recommended methods for thawing food: refrigerator, microwave, oven, or room temperature. Thawed food should be consumed quickly and not refrozen except in exceptional cases.
5.5.4 Setting the temperature
Temperature can be set between -26°C and -16°C. Recommended setting: -18°C.
5.5.5 SuperFrost
This function rapidly freezes fresh food by maximizing refrigeration. Activate in advance (6-24 hours) depending on the quantity. Wrap food and spread it out. SuperFrost switches off automatically after approx. 65 hours.
5.5.6 Drawers
Ensure adequate ventilation. Drawers can be pulled out for access to items stored directly on shelves.
5.5.7 Shelves
Instructions for moving and removing shelves for cleaning.
5.5.8 VarioSpace
Allows removal of shelves and drawers for more space for larger items.
5.5.9 Freezer pack
Freezer packs help maintain temperature during power cuts.
5.5.10 IceMaker
Instructions for the IceMaker, including producing ice cubes, flushing the system, and using the holiday function. It requires a water connection and can be switched on/off independently.
6 Maintenance
6.1 Change the FreshAir filter
The FreshAir filter should be changed every 12 months for optimum air quality. A timer prompts replacement. Instructions are provided for changing the filter and resetting the timer.
6.2 Defrosting with NoFrost
The NoFrost system automatically defrosts the appliance. Manual defrosting is not required.
6.3 Cleaning the ventilation grid
Clean the ventilation grid regularly for proper aeration. A timer can be set as a reminder. Instructions are provided for confirming cleaning and turning off the timer.
6.4 Cleaning the appliance
Clean the appliance regularly using soft cloths and mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid steam cleaners, abrasive materials, and harsh chemicals. Stainless steel surfaces require specific care. Most removable parts can be cleaned by hand or in a dishwasher.
6.5 Cleaning the IceMaker
Instructions for cleaning the IceMaker drawer and ice cube tray. It is important to discard the first three batches of ice cubes after cleaning or if rinse agent residue is present.
6.6 Customer service
Before contacting customer service, check for simple faults (see Section 7). Provide appliance details (model, service no., serial no.) when contacting service. Information can be retrieved via the appliance's menu or the model plate.
6.7 Energy efficiency class lighting
Indicates the energy efficiency class of the lighting (LED, Class G).
7 Malfunctions
This section lists common malfunctions and their potential causes and solutions. It covers issues such as the appliance not working, compressor running long, excessive noise, DEMO mode activation, and IceMaker problems. [Warning] Risk of electric shock if LED illumination is faulty; repairs must be done by trained personnel.
8 Messages
Error messages and reminders are displayed with audible signals and on-screen messages. These include Door alarm (door open too long), Temperature alarm (temperature too high/low), Power cut, Appliance faults (error codes), and Water inlet fault (for IceMaker).
9 Decommissioning
9.1 Switching the appliance off
The appliance can be switched off via the menu or the freezer compartment field. The BioFresh section can also be switched off separately.
9.2 Taking the appliance out of service
Steps include emptying the appliance, switching it off, removing the mains connector, cleaning, and leaving the door open.
10 Disposal
10.1 Preparing appliance for disposal
Remove batteries and lamps if possible before disposal. Take the appliance out of operation.
10.2 Disposing of the appliance in an environmentally friendly manner
Dispose of the appliance separately from unsorted waste. Batteries and lamps should be disposed of via designated collection systems. Retailers may accept old appliances for recycling.
