Battery Installation
Refer to Figure 1 for battery compartment illustration.
- Remove the timer cover.
- Pull the battery compartment out of the timer.
- Install three AA alkaline batteries, observing correct orientation as shown in the compartment.
- Place the battery compartment back into the timer.
Three fresh AA alkaline batteries should last for an entire watering season. If the battery voltage drops below a safe operating level, the valve will not open. The timer may also emit an audible signal. Batteries should be replaced when this occurs.
Setting the Watering Duration (Dial B)
Rotate Dial B to the desired watering duration. Refer to Figure 3 for dial illustration.
Dial B has ten settings:
- OFF: The valve will close and remain closed. The watering interval continues uninterrupted.
- ON: The valve will open and remain open.
- 2 min, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, 90 min, 120 min: The water will come on automatically at the intervals set by Dial A and remain on for the selected duration before switching off.
To change the watering duration while the valve is open, simply rotate Dial B to the new duration. The valve will remain open for the newly selected duration.
Setting the Watering Interval (Dial A)
Turn Dial A to the desired watering interval. Refer to Figure 2 for dial illustration.
Dial A has ten settings:
- Once: The valve will open once for the duration set on Dial B and then remain inactive until Dial A is rotated to another setting.
- 2 hr: Water comes on every two hours.
- 4 hr: Water comes on every four hours.
- 8 hr: Water comes on every eight hours.
- 12 hr: Water comes on every twelve hours.
- Daily: Water comes on once every day.
- 2nd day: Water comes on every other day.
- 3rd day: Water comes on every third day.
- 4th day: Water comes on every fourth day.
- 7th day: Water comes on once a week.
Note: The time of day when the interval is programmed becomes the reference time. The watering interval begins after the dial has been stationary for 1 second. Rotating the dial resets the interval. Watering will not occur until after the first complete interval has passed.
Specific Watering Modes
Watering Once
Set Dial A to "Once" and Dial B to the desired duration. The valve opens for the set duration and then closes. The timer remains inactive until Dial A is reset or the valve is manually activated.
Manual Watering
Turn Dial B to the "ON" setting. The valve opens and remains open until Dial B is rotated to another setting or OFF. The watering interval is not interrupted.
To Turn the Valve Off
Rotate Dial B to the "OFF" setting. The valve will not open. The watering interval setting remains active.
Low Battery Features
Low Battery Reset Feature
If low batteries are detected, the timer will cease to operate. Replace the 3 AA batteries with fresh ones, then press the RESET button located on the back of the housing. The timer will resume normal operation. If the timer stops functioning with new batteries, press the RESET button.
Low Battery Indication
When battery voltage drops below the ideal operating level, the valve will close. Replace batteries promptly with three fresh alkaline batteries.
Maintenance and Off-Season Storage
- Remove the timer from the faucet during winter or extended periods of inactivity.
- Open and close the valve several times to allow water to drain.
- Remove batteries and clean contacts. Discard batteries if corrosion is present.
- Store the timer in a warm, dry location.
Troubleshooting Checklist
- Ensure batteries are installed properly.
- Ensure new alkaline batteries are installed.
- Verify the hose faucet is turned on.
- Try operating the timer manually by rotating Dial B to the "ON" setting.
