Safety and Operation

Important Safety Precautions

General Handling

Use OnePlus Buds and the charging case with care. They contain highly sensitive electronic components, including batteries. Dropping, burning, puncturing, crushing, disassembling, or exposing them to high temperatures, liquids, or high-concentration industrial chemicals (like placing them close to evaporated liquefied gas such as helium) can damage or destroy them, or cause personal injury. Do not use damaged OnePlus Buds Z2 or charging case.

Bluetooth®

To disable Bluetooth of OnePlus Buds Z2, place the buds into the charging case and close the cover.

Battery

Do not attempt to replace the battery of OnePlus Buds Z2 or the charging case yourself, as you may damage the battery and cause overheating and personal injury. ⚠️

Charging

The buds can be charged with a power cable and power adapter or through a PC. Power adapters must comply with local and national regulations, and regional and international safety standards, including International Safety Standard for Information Technology Equipment (IEC 60950-1/IEC 62368). Using a third-party adapter that does not comply with the above safety standards may result in injury. Using a damaged power cable or charger or charging the buds in a wet environment may result in fire, electric shock, injury, or property loss. OnePlus will not take any responsibility for accidents or problems caused by using accessories that are not approved by OnePlus.

Prolonged Contact with Hot Surfaces

When the device and its power adapter, charging cable and connector, or wireless charger are plugged into a power source, do not touch or contact the device for a prolonged time. Otherwise, discomfort or damage may occur. For example, when the charging case is being charged via the charging cable and power adapter, do not sit or sleep on the charging case, charging cable, connector, or power adapter, and do not place them under a blanket, pillow, or your body. Be especially careful if your body is not very sensitive to heat.

Hearing Loss

Listening to music at very high volumes may cause permanent damage to your hearing. Background noise and a continuous high volume will reduce the perceived actual sound to a lower sound than it is. Check the volume before playing audio after inserting the OnePlus Buds Z2. ⚠️ [Warning] To avoid hearing damage, do not listen to music at high volumes for long periods.

Choking Hazard

To avoid choking or any other injury, do not swallow any part of this product. Keep the buds out of reach of children. ⚠️

Interference with Medical Devices

Some components of the OnePlus Buds Z2 buds and charging box will generate electromagnetic fields. OnePlus Buds Z2 buds and charging box also contain magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with pacemakers, defibrillators, and other medical devices. Keep medical devices at a safe distance from the OnePlus Buds Z2 buds/charge box. Consult your doctor or medical device manufacturer to learn more about medical devices. If you are unsure whether the OnePlus Buds Z2 buds and charge box are interfering with your pacemaker, defibrillator, and other medical devices, stop using the buds. ⚠️

Skin Irritation

Regularly clean the microphone holes and sound mesh on the buds to prevent them from being blocked. Improper cleaning of the buds may cause ear infections. Regularly clean the OnePlus Buds Z2 with a soft and lint-free cloth. Avoid soaking the buds or using aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasive substances on them. If any skin problem occurs, stop using the buds. If the skin problem persists, consult a doctor. ⚠️

Electrostatic Shock

Using OnePlus Buds Z2 in a dry environment can generate static electricity and result in a weak electrostatic discharge. To minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge, avoid using OnePlus Buds Z2 in a dry environment or touching grounded metal objects before using them.

Operation Notice

Generally, the Type-C plug and the bottom part of the OnePlus Buds Z2 buds tube will fade in color, which is normal. Dust, debris, and water ingress may cause this. Before cleaning, take the OnePlus Buds Z2 buds out of the box, and disconnect the Type-C USB cable that connects the box to a PC or PC adapter. Clean the Type-C plug and the bottom part of the OnePlus Buds Z2 buds tube with a soft, dry, and lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.

Temperature Limits

The device operating temperature is 0°C to 35°C with humidity of 45% to 75%. The device storage temperature is –15°C to 35°C. Too high or too low temperatures can degrade quality and damage the buds and battery.

The charger operating temperature is 5°C to 35°C. Too high or too low temperatures will prevent the buds from charging, or may even damage the device.

Thunderstorms

Do not use the buds during thunderstorms as electric shocks may occur or damage may result. ⚠️

Driving Safety

Always remember that safe driving is most important. Never engage in activities that may distract your attention while driving. You are advised not to use OnePlus Buds Z2 during driving. In some regions, using buds while you are driving is illegal. Understand and follow the laws and regulations of buds use in the country you are driving in. Stay safe and focused when you drive. Stop using the buds if they distract you while you're driving or if you're doing any other activity that requires concentration. ⚠️

Battery Warning

This product contains a built-in lithium battery. It must not be dismantled, impacted, forcibly removed, or exposed to fire. ⚠️

Under very low air pressure, the battery may explode or leak flammable liquid or gas. ⚠️

Do not place the battery in a high-temperature environment or in the sun; doing so may cause it to explode. ⚠️

If the battery appears swollen, stop using the product. ⚠️

Please dispose of the battery according to local regulations. Do not dispose of the battery as household waste. ⚠️

Please do not attempt to repair, disassemble, or modify the battery. Replacing the battery with an incorrect type may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazards. Your device can only use OnePlus authorized batteries. ⚠️

Please do not apply pressure to the battery or puncture it with hard objects. Damaging the battery can cause battery leakage, overheating, or fire. ⚠️

Do not short-circuit a battery or allow metallic or conductive objects to contact the battery terminals. ⚠️

Avoid dropping the device or battery. If the device or battery is dropped, especially on a hard surface, and the user suspects damage, take it to a service center for inspection.

All batteries have a limited lifespan and will begin to lose capacity after several hundred charge/discharge cycles.

If you experience any battery abnormalities such as high temperature, discoloration, deformation, or leakage, immediately discontinue use of the device and contact customer support.

Warranty Information

OnePlus devices purchased on oneplus.com or authorized sales channels come with a limited warranty. The duration of this warranty depends on the original country or region of purchase and is only redeemable within the original country or region. Unless otherwise specified, this warranty covers the hardware components of the product as originally supplied and does not cover or partially cover software, consumable items, or accessories, even if packaged or sold with the product. The limited warranty only covers functional defects of the product caused by workmanship or building materials.

Non-Warranty Scope

1. Expired warranty;
2. No valid warranty card and valid invoice;
3. Inconsistent product model or number on the warranty card with the actual product;
4. Unauthorized change of warranty card;
5. Normal wear/tear caused by use, damage due to contact with chemical reagents, contact with sharp objects, falling, bending, and other human factors;
6. Damage caused by force majeure events such as flood, fire, earthquake, and lightning;
7. Natural wear and tear of the product (such as the shell and accessories);
8. Damage caused by disassembly, repair, and modification performed by unauthorized maintenance organizations or individuals;
9. Damage caused by human factors, use in an abnormal working environment, failure to follow instructions, or use of non-original accessories.

Operating Instructions

Setup and Connection

Pairing and Connecting

For Android phones, follow the Google Fast Pair prompts. For non-Android phones, place the buds into the charging case with the cover opened. Press and hold the setup button of the charging case for 2s to enter Bluetooth settings. Then, select OnePlus Buds Z2.

Factory Reset

Place the buds into the charging case with the cover opened. Press and hold the setup button of the charging case for 10s until the indicator lamp blinks red. Note: Only OnePlus 6 and later versions are supported.

Noise Control

Press and hold the touch area for 1s to switch the noise control mode between "Extreme noise cancellation" and "Transparency" by default. To switch between two different modes, enter Settings > Buds details.

Function Control

Call Control

Answer/End: Double-tap

Reject: Press and hold the bud for 3s

Device Switching

Press and hold either bud (in powered-on status) for 3s to reconnect to the previous device.

Wear Detection

During music playback, the buds automatically pause the music when you take them off. If you put the buds back within three minutes, the buds automatically resume the music.

Play Control

You can customize the tap, double-tap, and triple-tap functions of the left bud and right bud on the phone to perform different commands:

• Tap (default "Play/Pause"): Optional tap functions: "Play/Pause", "Previous", and "Next".
• Double-tap (default "Next"): Optional double-tap functions: "Play/Pause", "Previous", "Next", and wake up speech assistant.
• Triple-tap (default "Previous"): Optional triple-tap functions: "Play/Pause", "Previous", "Next", and wake up speech assistant.

Replacing Ear Tips

Use ear tips in appropriate size to enjoy optimal comfort and noise cancellation experience. Check the buds accessories for ear tips in different sizes.

Charging

Charging the Buds

Put the buds in the charging case to initiate charging.

Charging the Charging Case

Connect the charging case to a power supply through the charging cable delivered with the buds to charge the charging case.
