NUX NDL-3 HOOK Drum & Loop Pedal

Introduction
The NUX NDL-3 HOOK is a looper pedal with automatic tempo detection. It offers up to 6 minutes of recording and overdubbing. The pedal allows users to record phrase loops and play drums along with the recorded tempo. It also supports smart tap tempo for synchronizing drum playback speed. A headphone jack is included for private practice.
Controls and Connections
The pedal features the following controls and connections:
- DC Jack: Connects to a 9V DC, center-negative power supply (AC adapter) with 100mA or more current capacity.
- Drum TAP Switch & Indicator: A short press toggles drum playback on/off. Pressing twice or more activates Smart Tap Tempo for adjusting drum speed.
- Drum Level Knob: Adjusts the volume of the drum sounds.
- USB-C Port: Used for connecting to a PC for firmware updates. Check the NUX website for update availability. It also allows importing/exporting phrase loops using free software. Exported loops are saved as WAV 44.1kHz/24-bit mono format. Note: Recording cannot be done while the USB cable is connected; export after recording.
- FS Indicator: Indicates the status of the footswitch.
- INPUT: Connects to the input cable from your guitar.
- OUTPUT: Connects to the output cable to your amplifier.
- LOOP LEVEL Knob: Adjusts the playback volume of the phrase loop.
- STYLE Knob: Selects the drum rhythm style (e.g., POP, R&B, ROCK, JAZZ, FUNK, BLUES).
- PHONE Jack: Connect headphones for quiet practice.
- FOOTSWITCH & FS indicator: Operates the looper functions: Record, Play, Overdub, Stop, Undo, Redo.

Modes and Operations
NR/AR Mode Switching
Hold the FOOTSWITCH while connecting the power adapter to switch between NR (Normal Recording, LED indicator flashes blue 3 times) and AR (Auto Recording, LED indicator flashes red 3 times).
- Normal Recording: Press the FOOTSWITCH to start recording.
- Auto Recording: Press the FOOTSWITCH to enter standby. Recording begins automatically when the input signal is detected.
Headphone Volume Adjustment (Alt Mode)
Hold the DRUM TAP switch while connecting the power adapter to enter Alt mode. The DRUM TAP indicator and FOOTSWITCH indicator will flash. In Alt mode, the DRUM LEVEL knob controls the headphone volume. Press the FOOTSWITCH to exit Alt mode.
Phrase Loop Import/Export
Connect the HOOK to a PC via USB Type-C cable. Use the HOOK Editor Software, downloadable from the NUX HOOK product page (https://www.nuxaudio.com/hook.html), to import and export recorded audio. Exported files are saved in WAV 44.1kHz/24-bit mono format. Note: Do not record while the USB cable is connected; export your recordings after disconnecting the cable.
Factory Reset
Connect the HOOK to a PC via USB Type-C cable. Hold both the DRUM TAP switch and the FOOTSWITCH while connecting the power adapter to perform a factory reset. Caution: Avoid unnecessary resets as the memory will be rebuilt.
Firmware Updates
Firmware may be updated to add or modify features. Check the product HP for the latest firmware information.To update, connect the pedal to a PC via USB cable. Hold the FOOTSWITCH while connecting the power adapter to boot into update mode.Download "Firmware (Mac or Windows)" from the bottom of the HOOK product page on the NUX HP (https://www.nuxaudio.com/hook.html). Unzip the downloaded file and launch "NUX Device Updater". Click "Select File" and choose the BIN file (~.bin) from the downloaded folder. Click "Start Update". The update is complete when "Update Finish." or "successfully updated." appears at the bottom of the NUX Device Updater. Restart the effect pedal.If updates are not being applied, there might be no data available on the HP, or the available data might be significantly older than your purchase date, in which case an update may not be necessary.
