4. Powering Up and Connection
The LABI1-SB18p operates on 100-240VAC 50-60Hz with PFC (Power Factor Correction). Ensure the main cable is not mixed with audio signal cables to avoid interference and hum. The AC connector is a Neutrik® Powercon TRUE1 (16A) and includes a power linking connector for powering another LABI1-SB18p unit. For connector details, visit: https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/nac3fx-w.
4.1. Connections
- The LABI1-SB18p features two balanced XLR audio input connectors, labeled Input1 and Input2. A second LABI1-SB18p can be connected using the XLR outputs (Output1 and Output2). These outputs provide a copy of the signal received at each input.
- Depending on the preset, different input-output configurations allow the system to operate in stereo or mono mode (see next chapter for more information). This stereo/mono configuration does not affect the subwoofer output, which always operates in mono mode (In1+In2).
- To connect LABI1-C100i satellite speakers, connect the Speakon® cable from the output connectors of the SB18p (Cabinet1 or Cabinet2) to the C100i's Speakon® input. Depending on the selected preset, one or both outputs can be used in mono or stereo mode, with a power output of 600W@4Ω. Two C100i column speakers can be connected via the LINK output using a Speakon® or Euroblock connector.
- The passive subwoofer LABI1-SB18 has one input and one output Speakon® connector for stacking.
4.2. Configuration Panel
The rear panel of the LABI1-SB18p includes an LCD screen that provides information and configuration tools for digital control of the speaker system. A compact joystick located below the screen allows for basic adjustments of the internal DSP.
Joystick Navigation: Move the joystick to select icons on the left of the screen. Available functions are:
- Home: Displays input and output levels.
- Adjustments: Allows modification of audio parameters like Gain, Mute, Polarity, Delay, and High Pass Filter (type, frequency, order).
- Folder: Shows the currently active preset name and description. Use the joystick to change presets.
- Configuration: Allows setting up Ethernet connectivity (automatic or manual) and screen saver behavior. Input type (Analog or AES3) can be selected and assigned to channels 1 or 2.
- Information: Displays general data about the unit's internal components, including Model, Serial Number, DSP Firmware/Hardware versions, Amplifier module model/hardware version, and Accelerometer status.
Note: Desired configurations must be applied individually to each unit. Electrical power is required for the system to function correctly. If no interaction occurs, the screen will dim to save power; press the joystick to reactivate the backlight.
5. Installation and Configuration Systems
The LABI ONE SERIES is designed to allow users to choose from a wide variety of speaker system configurations. Its accessories ensure maximum installation versatility for mounting LABI ONE speakers on any desired surface or structure.
5.1. LABI1-C100i: Acoustic Center
When installing C100i column speakers, it is crucial to consider the acoustic center, located between the six upper drivers. The correct working height corresponds to this acoustic center.
The LABI1-C100i is in its normal position when the ECLER logo is at the bottom of the column. For dual-column setups, the upper column should be inverted to create a single acoustic center.
Diagram Description: The images show two LABI1-C100i column speakers. The first image shows a single column with a shaded green area indicating the acoustic center. The second image shows two columns, one inverted on top of the other, with connecting cables, and a shaded green area highlighting the combined acoustic center.
5.2. Active Speaker Systems
There are 18 available presets, selectable from the LCD control panel. These presets are grouped into 6 different speaker configurations, each with 3 DSP settings to suit various purposes:
- Standard (S): General equalization for standard music applications.
- Bass Boost (B): +3dB boost to the subwoofer output for music applications requiring enhanced bass.
- Voice (V): Equalization that emphasizes mid-high frequencies for voice applications, improving intelligibility.

- Preset 10/11/12: Diagram Description: Shows a LABI1-SB18p subwoofer with two LABI1-C100i column speakers mounted vertically using the LABI1-CAC adapter.
The LABI1-C100i can be mounted on various surfaces using its accessories: on a pole (PBC), on a wall (WBC), on rigging (TBC), or on the floor (HBC). The LABI1-CFC wheel kit makes these systems mobile, facilitating easy movement and placement.
5.3. Passive Speaker Systems
In addition to active speaker systems, the LABI ONE series offers the possibility of installation in passive speaker systems with external amplification. The passive subwoofer LABI1-SB18 is designed for fixed speaker systems. Combined with C100i column speakers and external power amplification, various configurations can be assembled using the available accessories, depending on user needs.
There is no strict rule for the number of column speakers per subwoofer; it depends mainly on the subwoofer's placement and the room's acoustics. In highly reflective rooms, a subwoofer might even impair intelligibility, while in rooms with highly absorbent surfaces, multiple subwoofers might be necessary. Generally, placing a subwoofer near multiple surfaces increases its efficiency. Consequently, the sound pressure level will be higher if the speaker is placed on the floor in a corner rather than next to a wall, and even more so than in the center of a room.
For outdoor use of the LABI1-C100i, the LABI1-ODCNX outdoor kit is required to protect the connections.
