6. Connection and Setup
The LABI1-SB18p operates on AC power from 100-240 V at 50-60 Hz, with power factor correction. Ensure the power cable does not interfere with audio signal cables to avoid interference and hum. The mains connector is a Neutrik® Powercon TRUE1 16 A, and a loop-through connector allows powering another LABI1-SB18p unit. The following link provides instructions for downloading mounting instructions and other connector information: https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/nac3fx-w
6.1. Connections
- The LABI1-SB18p features two balanced XLR audio input connectors, labeled Input1 and Input2. You can connect a second LABI1-SB18p using the Output1 and Output2 connectors, also available on XLR connectors. These outputs provide a copy of the signal received by each input. Depending on the preset, there are different input/output configurations allowing the system to operate in stereo or mono mode (for more information, refer to the following chapter). This stereo/mono configuration does not affect the subwoofer output, which always operates in mono mode (In1+In2).
- To connect the LABI1-C100i satellite speakers, connect the Speakon® cable between the amplified output connectors CABINET1 or CABINET2 of the SB18p and the Speakon® input of the C100i. Depending on the selected PRESET, one or both outputs can be used in mono or stereo mode, providing 600 W at 4 Ω. You can connect two C100i column speakers via the LINK loop-through connector to the Speakon® or Euroblock connector.
- The passive subwoofer LABI1-SB18 features one Speakon® input and one Speakon® loop-through output connector.
6.2. Configuration Panel
On the rear of the LABI1-SB18p, an LCD screen provides information and configuration tools for the user to have digital control over the speaker system. Using the compact joystick located below the screen, it is possible to configure the basic settings of the internal DSP.
Move the joystick to select the icons to the left of the screen. The available functions are:
- Home: Displays the input and output levels of the unit. The input meter indicates the signal level and a saturation (clip) indicator. The output meter shows the output level (0 dBu corresponds to the maximum amplifier level). It is also possible to check the compressor's operation and control its activity.
- Settings: Allows modification of the following audio parameters: Gain, Mute, Polarity, Delay, and High Pass Filter (allows selection of filter type, cutoff frequency, and filter order).
- Folder: Displays the name of the currently active preset and its description. Use the joystick to change presets by moving it in the desired direction.
- Configuration: Allows configuration of Ethernet connectivity, choosing between automatic or manual configuration. You can also set the screen saver behavior. It is also possible to select the input source (Input Type) by choosing between analog or AES3 signal, and then assign it to channel 1 or 2, as needed.
- Information: Provides general data on the unit's internal components, including: Speaker model, Serial number, Firmware and DSP hardware version, Amplifier module model and its hardware version, Accelerometer status.
Note: The desired configuration must be applied individually to each unit, and a power supply is required for the system to function correctly. In the absence of interaction, the screen will automatically dim to reduce unwanted light. To reactivate the backlight, simply press the joystick.
A detailed explanation of the input-output configurations offered by the different presets is provided in the following chapter.
7. System Installation and Configuration
The LABI ONE series has been designed to allow the user to choose from a wide variety of speaker system configurations. Its accessories ensure maximum versatility for installing LABI ONE speakers on the surface or structure of your choice.
7.1. LABI1-C100i: Acoustic Center
When installing the C100i column speakers, it is very important to consider that the acoustic center of the column is located between the six top drivers. The correct operating height will therefore correspond to the height of the "acoustic center".
The LABI1-C100i is in its normal position when the ECLER logo is at the bottom. When two columns are to be used as one, the top column must be placed upside down to create a single "acoustic center" in the resulting column.
In the images below, the green shaded area shows the "acoustic center" of the LABI1-C100i column speakers:
- LABI1-C100i (logo at bottom)
- LABI1-C100i (logo at top, inverted)
7.2. Active Speaker Systems
7.2.1. Presets
18 presets can be selected via the LCD control panel. They are grouped into 6 speaker configurations, and each group offers 3 different DSP configurations for the user to choose from depending on the application:
- Standard (S): General equalization for standard musical applications.
- Bass Boost (B): +3 dB on the subwoofer output for musical applications requiring enhanced bass.
- Vocal EQ (V): Equalization that emphasizes upper mids for vocal applications, improving intelligibility.
The following table summarizes the available presets:
N° | Name | Inputs | Outputs | Column Speakers | DSP Config. |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | MONOI_10_2cS | In1, Mono | Out 1 - Mono | 2 LABI1-C100i | S |

- Presets 4/5/6 and 16/17/18 (+LABI1-SAC): Shows a diagram of a single column mounted on a subwoofer.
- Presets 7/8/9 (+2 LABI1-CAC): Shows a diagram of two columns mounted on a subwoofer. Note: remember to install the top column upside down.
- Presets 10/11/12: Shows a diagram of two columns mounted on a subwoofer.
7.3. Passive Speaker Systems
In addition to active speaker systems, the LABI ONE series can be incorporated into passive speaker systems with external amplification. The passive LABI1-SB18 subwoofer is designed for installation in fixed speaker systems. With C100i column speakers and external power amplification, various configurations can be implemented using the available accessories, depending on user needs.
There is no rule governing the number of column speakers per subwoofer. This depends mainly on the subwoofer's placement and the room's acoustics. Thus, in a highly reflective room, a subwoofer may even impair intelligibility, while several subwoofers may be necessary in a room with highly absorbent surfaces. In general, placing a subwoofer near different walls will increase its output. Consequently, the sound pressure level will be higher if you place the speaker on the floor in a corner rather than just next to a wall, and even more so than in the center of a room.
To use the LABI1-C100i outdoors, an LABI1-ODCNX outdoor kit is required to protect the connections.
