Connection and Setup

Connections

The LABI1-SB18p operates on 100-240V AC (50-60Hz) with power factor correction. Ensure the power cable does not interfere with audio signal cables. The unit uses a Powercon TRUE1 Neutrik® 16A connector. A link is provided for more information on the Neutrik NAC3FX-W connector: neutrik.com/en/product/nac3fx-w.

  • LABI1-SB18p: Features two balanced XLR inputs (Input1, Input2) and two XLR outputs (Output1, Output2) for daisy-chaining. Presets allow for stereo or mono configurations. The subwoofer always operates in mono mode (In1+In2).
  • To connect LABI1-C100i satellite speakers, use a Speakon cable between the SB18p's CABINET1 or CABINET2 amplified outputs and the C100i's Speakon input. Depending on the selected preset, one or both outputs can be used for mono or stereo operation (600W at 4Ω). Two C100i speakers can be linked via the Speakon or Euroblock LINK output.
  • The passive LABI1-SB18 subwoofer has a Speakon input and a Speakon link output.

Configuration Panel

The rear panel of the LABI1-SB18p features an LCD screen and a joystick for digital control of the speaker system's DSP. The joystick allows navigation through menu options:

  • ? Accueil (Home): Displays input/output levels (vumeters) and saturation (clip) indicators.
  • ⚙️ Paramètres (Settings): Allows adjustment of Gain, Mute, Polarity, Delay, and High Pass Filter (type, cutoff frequency, order).
  • ? Dossier (Folder): Shows the currently active preset name and description. Use the joystick to change presets.
  • ? Configuration: Configure Ethernet connectivity (automatic/manual) and screen saver behavior. Select input source (Analog/AES3) and assign to channels.
  • ℹ️ Informations: Displays internal component details such as model, serial number, firmware/hardware versions, and accelerometer status.

Note: Configurations must be applied individually to each unit. The screen dims automatically during inactivity.

System Installation and Configuration

LABI1-C100i: Acoustic Center

When installing LABI1-C100i column speakers, it's crucial to consider the acoustic center, located between the top six drivers. The correct operating height corresponds to this acoustic center.

The LABI1-C100i is in its normal position with the Ecler logo at the bottom. For stereo imaging using two columns, the top column should be inverted to create a unified acoustic center.

Diagram Description: Two LABI1-C100i column speakers are shown. The upper section of each column, between the top drivers, is highlighted with a green shaded area indicating the acoustic center. The text notes that for dual-column setups, the top speaker should be inverted.

Active Speaker Systems - Presets

Eighteen presets are available, grouped into 6 configurations, each offering 3 DSP settings for different applications:

  • S (Standard): General equalization for standard music applications.
  • B (Bass Boost): +3dB bass boost for applications requiring enhanced low frequencies.
  • V (Vocal EQ): EQ emphasizing upper-mids for improved vocal intelligibility.

The following table summarizes the available presets:

Passive Speaker Systems

The LABI ONE series can be integrated into passive systems requiring external amplification. The LABI1-SB18 passive subwoofer is designed for fixed installations. When paired with LABI1-C100i columns and external amplification, various configurations are possible.

The number of column speakers per subwoofer is flexible and depends on room acoustics. In highly reflective rooms, fewer subwoofers may be needed, while highly absorbent rooms might require more. Placing a subwoofer near walls increases bass output; corner placement yields the highest SPL.

For outdoor use of the LABI1-C100i, the LABI1-ODCNX outdoor kit is required to protect connections.
