Water Resistance
For all categories of watches, the following are prohibited while underwater: pressing buttons, moving hands, and unscrewing the crown. If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it. Do not wear a watch with a leather strap while swimming, and avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.
Watches are classified by water resistance levels (from I to V) according to their degree of protection against water. Consult the table below to determine the correct usage for your watch.
Rating | Case Marking | Splash, Rain | Washing, Dishwashing | Swimming, Snorkeling | Scuba Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | - | No | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes:
- I: Watches are not water resistant. Avoid exposure to any moisture.
- II WR (Water Resistant) signifies that the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause any problems.
- III: Watches with 5 Bar (50 meters) water resistance can withstand the indicated water pressure and can be used during showers and brief swimming.
- IV: Watches with 10 Bar (100 meters) water resistance can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
- V: Watches with 20 Bar (200 meters) water resistance can be used for scuba diving (excluding depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).
When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This phenomenon is due to the laws of physics and is not a defect.
CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of these watches and does not accept any claims from third parties.
Watch Operation
Note: Your watch may differ slightly from the illustrations provided in this manual.
Screw-Lock Crown (if applicable)
Some water-resistant models are equipped with a screw-lock crown. To pull out such a crown, unlock it by turning it in the direction indicated in the illustration. Do not apply excessive force when pulling out the crown, as this may lead to damage. The watch becomes unprotected from water and moisture when the crown is pulled out. After completing any operations with the crown, return it to its original position and lock it.

Watches with Backlight
Press and hold button L to activate the watch's backlight. The backlight duration varies by model, typically 2 to 3 seconds, 1 second, or until button L is released (Module 5577). The backlight is provided by electroluminescent (EL) elements or LEDs. EL elements may lose brightness after prolonged use. Frequent use of the backlight shortens battery life. Activating the backlight for extended periods or with a low battery charge may cause the watch hands to stop moving temporarily.

Watches with Rotating Bezel
Turn the bezel to align the marker with the minute hand. After some time, you can tell how much time has passed since you aligned the marker with the minute hand.
