Water Resistance
Important Information Before Use
Water Resistance
The following is prohibited for all categories of watches:
- Pressing buttons underwater.
- Changing hands underwater.
- Unscrewing the crown underwater.
If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it. Do not wear a watch with a leather strap while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of the leather strap with water.
Watches are classified into categories (from I to V) according to their water resistance. Refer to the table below to determine the correct usage for your watch.
Rating | Case Marking | Splashes, Rain, etc. | Swimming, Washing Car, etc. | Underwater Swimming, Diving, etc. | Diving with Scuba Gear |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | - | No | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT / 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes
I: Watches are not protected against water. Avoid any moisture.
II: WR (Water Resistant) means the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause any problems.
III: Watches with water resistance of 5 Bar (50 meters) can withstand water pressure as indicated and can be used during showers and brief swimming.
IV: Water resistance of 10 Bar (100 meters) means the watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
V: Water resistance of 20 Bar (200 meters) means the watch can be used for scuba diving (excluding depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).
When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This phenomenon is due to the laws of physics and is not a defect.
CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of this watch and does not accept any claims from third parties.
General Notes
Your watch may differ slightly from the illustrations in this manual.
Screw-Lock Crown
Some water-resistant models are equipped with a screw-lock crown. To pull out such a crown, you must first unlock it by turning it in the direction indicated in the illustration [crown-unlock-arrow]. Do not apply excessive force when pulling out the crown, as this may cause damage.
Note that the watch becomes unprotected against water and moisture when the crown is pulled out. After performing any operations with the crown, return it to its original position and lock it.

Depending on the watch model, the backlight is provided by electroluminescent (EL) elements or LEDs. EL elements lose brightness after prolonged use.
