Assembling the Fixture
Figure 2 Description
Diagram showing the main components of the lighting fixture body. It depicts a column (I) that attaches to the fixture body (L), with a cover (K) and candle sleeve (J) for the lamp holder.
- Return the arms to suitable position.
- Attach the column (I) to the top thread hole of the fixture body (L), lock it until tightened.
- Raise the cover (K) and candle sleeve (J) to insert the lamp holder.
- Install the light bulbs (not included) in accordance with the fixture's specifications.
NOTE: DO NOT EXCEED THE SPECIFIED WATTAGE!
Hanging the Fixture
Figure 1 Description
Diagram illustrating the hanging process. It shows a ceiling junction box (not included) with mounting hardware including a single bar (D), screws (E), nut (A), and lock washer (B). A nipple (C) connects to a loop (F), which attaches to the fixture chain. A loop collar (H) and canopy (G) are shown to slide over the chain before it is attached to the fixture.
- Shut off the power at the circuit breaker and remove the old fixture from the ceiling, including the old single bar.
- Carefully unpack the new fixture and lay all the parts on a clear surface.
- Thread nipple (C) into loop (F) until snug.
- Thread the other end of nipple (C) with the attached loop into single bar (D) until snug.
- Place lock washer (B) over the end of the nipple protruding through the single bar and thread hex nut (A) onto the nipple until tight.
- Take this single bar assembly and mount it to the ceiling junction box with the junction box screws (E). Tighten screws securely with a screwdriver.
- Using proper chain pliers, open one end link of the provided chain and connect it to the fixture loop. Close the link.
- By measuring, determine the correct number of links needed for the proper hanging height. Using proper chain pliers, disconnect and discard the remaining chain.
- Lace the fixture wires through the chain.
- Slip loop collar (H) over the chain, then do the same with the canopy (G).
- Open the other end link of the chain and hang the fixture on the loop at the ceiling. Close the link.
- Feed the fixture wires through the loop (F) and nipple (C) and pull until taut.
Connecting the Wires
Figure 3 Description
Diagram illustrating wire connections. It shows three pairings: 1. Fixture wire (Black or Smooth) connects to House wire (Black/Hot). 2. Fixture wire (White or Ribbed) connects to House wire (White/Neutral). 3. Fixture wire (Bare Copper/Ground) connects to House wire (Green or Bare Copper/Ground) or a ground screw. Each connection is secured with a wire connector, depicted as a small cap.
- Take the black wire from the ceiling junction box and the smooth wire leg from the fixture and twist the bare ends together. Twist a wire connector onto the end of the wire until snug.
- Repeat the same process with the white junction box wire and the ribbed wire leg of the fixture wire.
- NOTE: Twist wires together in the same direction you twist the wire connector onto the wires.
- If your junction box has a grounding wire (green or bare copper), attach this wire and the bare copper wire from the fixture together as step 1. If the junction box has no ground wire, attach the bare copper fixture wire to the green ground screw on the single bar.
- Tuck these wire connections neatly into the ceiling junction box and then raise the canopy (G) all the way to the ceiling. Raise the loop (H) and thread onto the ceiling loop protruding through the canopy.
Installation Complete
Your installation is now complete. Return power to the junction box and test the fixture.
