1. Important Warnings

CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK - DO NOT OPEN

The lightning symbol with an arrow at the tip inside an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of dangerous uninsulated voltage within the apparatus, and of a magnitude that may constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

The exclamation mark symbol inside an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operation and maintenance instructions in the information accompanying the product.

WARNING (If applicable): Terminals marked with the symbol "⚡" may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock. External wiring connected to the terminals must be installed by qualified personnel or by using pre-assembled cables.

WARNING: To prevent electric shocks or fire hazards, do not expose this equipment to rain or humidity.

WARNING: Apparatus with Class I construction must be connected via a plug with earth connection.

2. Important Safety Instructions

  1. Read these instructions.
  2. Keep these instructions.
  3. Heed all warnings.
  4. Follow all instructions.
  5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
  6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
  7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Do not install near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or other apparatus that produce heat, including amplifiers.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades, one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit your outlet, consult an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet.
  10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, especially at the plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  11. Use only attachments specified by the manufacturer.
  12. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  13. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
  14. Power disconnection: turning the POWER switch off will stop all amplifier functions and indicators, but complete disconnection of the apparatus is achieved by unplugging the power cord from its connector. For this reason, it must always be easily accessible.
  15. The equipment connects to an earthed socket via the power cord.
  16. Part of the product labeling is located on the base of the unit.
  17. This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

WARNING: This product must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste under any circumstances. Please take it to the nearest electrical and electronic waste treatment center.

3. Important Note

NEEC AUDIO BARCELONA, S.L. declines any responsibility for damages that may be caused to persons, animals, or objects due to non-compliance with the previous warnings.

Congratulations. You own the result of careful design and meticulous manufacturing. We appreciate your trust in choosing our IC series false ceiling speaker.

For maximum operability and performance, it is VERY IMPORTANT to read and keep in mind the considerations specified in this manual before connecting. To ensure optimal operation, we recommend that maintenance be carried out by our authorized Technical Services.

All ECLER products have a warranty. Please consult www.ecler.com or the warranty card included with this unit to know the validity period and its conditions.

4. Introduction

The Ecler IC series of false ceiling speakers incorporates a careful selection of components in a user-friendly design that prioritizes quick installation. They also offer excellent sound reproduction in bass and treble thanks to the infinite baffle philosophy and a high-frequency transducer with excellent performance.

The incorporation of a transformer in the entire series allows for maximum versatility of the unit, enabling it to be used intuitively in both low impedance and 100V/70V line applications by simply changing the position of the selector.

The transducers used for low and mid-frequency reproduction are made of polypropylene, ensuring excellent component stability over time and protecting them from environmental factors such as heat and humidity.

5. Connection

The connection terminals for the IC6 and IC8 models are pressure clamp type for stripped cable. Once connected, simply select the operating mode and power of the unit using a simple screwdriver. Always respect polarity.

Note: When using the false ceiling speaker in 70V installations, the corresponding power ratings for the 100V position will be reduced by half. For 50V installations, they will be reduced to a quarter.

Each model in the series incorporates a detachable protective grille with a supplied hook. Take care not to damage the speaker when removing the grille.

IC6 Connection Plate Diagram:

For the IC3 model, the connection terminals are of the screw terminal type. Connect the cables as follows:

The IC range is supplied from the factory with the selector in the 100V/70V position. If you accidentally connect the system in low impedance (8Ω), it will not damage the speaker, but its performance will be significantly reduced. If you accidentally connect the speaker to a 100V/70V network in the 8Ω position, it will be severely damaged.

6. Location and Mounting

The installation of each unit is easily carried out using the 3 rotating tabs incorporated in the IC6 and IC8 models, and spring clips in the IC3 model. For more information on the installation method, consult section 5 of this manual.

For correct product installation, it is necessary to plan for the creation of circular openings in the designated locations for each unit, as well as the relevant wiring.

The following steps detail the procedure for correct installation:

  1. Remove the protective grille from the unit using the supplied hook.
  2. Make a circular opening in the false ceiling. To facilitate this, a cutting/painting template is supplied with each unit. Once separated into two parts, the outer part can be used as a template to mark the opening in the ceiling, while the inner disc can be used to protect the speaker cone if the plastic part is to be painted a different color.
  3. Connect the existing cables in the installation to the unit using the pressure clips.
  4. Insert the speaker into the opening made. Hold the unit with one hand and insert it into its position, ensuring that the 3 rotating tabs are retracted.
  5. Tighten each of the 3 accessible screws from the front of the unit. The speaker will then be fixed in its final position.
  6. Replace the protective grille.

7. Painting

The IC series is prepared for painting, making installation feasible regardless of the aesthetic criteria of the enclosure where it will be used.

The following details the process for painting any model in the range:

  1. Remove the protective grille from the unit using the supplied hook.
  2. Once the cutting/painting template is separated into two parts, use the inner disc to protect the speaker cone by placing it over it so that it fits snugly. The tips on the disc after separating the template into two parts facilitate the fit. The outer part of the template can be placed on the back of the speaker, fitted to the plastic circle, to protect the rear area from splashes if spray painting.
  3. Paint the protective grille and the speaker separately, taking care not to obstruct the small holes in the grille. Use suitable air-drying paints.
  4. Once the paint is dry, remove the protective coverings, and the unit is ready to be installed.
