Safety Instructions
WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK - DO NOT OPEN
- The lightning bolt symbol within an equilateral triangle indicates the presence of hazardous voltage inside the product, posing a risk of electric shock.
- The exclamation mark within an equilateral triangle alerts the user to important operating and maintenance instructions in the accompanying documentation.
- Terminals marked with the "⚡" symbol may be live and capable of causing electric shock. External wiring connected to these terminals must be installed by a qualified person or by using pre-assembled cables.
- To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture.
- Apparatus of construction type I must be connected to a mains socket outlet provided with a earth connection.
- Do not install near heat sources such as radiators, hot air vents, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades, one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The third prong is for your safety. If the supplied cord does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet.
- Protect the power cord from being pinched or crushed, especially at the plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
- Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
- Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
- For servicing, contact qualified technical service. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
- To disconnect the apparatus from the mains, press the POWER switch (13) to deactivate functions and indicators. Total disconnection is achieved by unplugging the power supply cord from the mains (11). Ensure the power cord is always easily accessible.
- This apparatus must be earthed via its power cord.
- Product labeling is located on the bottom of the product.
- This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
- WARNING: This product must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. Take it to the nearest electrical and electronic waste treatment center.
NEEC AUDIO BARCELONA, S.L. disclaims all liability for damages that may be caused to persons, animals, or objects due to non-compliance with the above warnings.
Introduction
The Ecler IC series of ceiling speakers, featuring carefully selected components, are easy to install. Thanks to the infinite baffle concept and a high-quality tweeter, these speakers provide excellent reproduction of both bass and treble frequencies.
The built-in transformer in all models allows for great flexibility, enabling the speakers to be used in low impedance applications or on a 100V/70V line by simply changing the position of the corresponding switch.
The transducers for bass and mid-range frequencies are made of polypropylene for perfect stability and effective protection against environmental factors such as heat and humidity.
The IC series includes 3 models: IC3, IC6, and IC8, with the following technical specifications:
IC3
- 1-way ceiling speaker
- 3" bass speaker in polypropylene
- Power: 10W RMS at 8Ω
- Sensitivity (1W/1m): 90 dB SPL
- Built-in transformer
- External diameter: 105mm
- Cut-out diameter: 90mm
- Available in Black (RAL9004) and White (RAL9003)
- Installation system: spring clips (no tools required)
IC6
- 2-way ceiling speaker
- 6.5" bass speaker in polypropylene
- 25mm tweeter
- Power: 40W RMS at 8Ω
- Sensitivity (1W/1m): 88 dB SPL
- Built-in transformer
- External diameter: 204mm
- Cut-out diameter: 180mm
- Available in Black (RAL9005) and White (RAL9010)
- Installation system: three rotating tabs
IC8
- 2-way ceiling speaker
- 8" bass speaker in polypropylene
- 25mm tweeter
- Power: 60W RMS at 8Ω
- Sensitivity (1W/1m): 89 dB SPL
- Built-in transformer
- External diameter: 245mm
- Cut-out diameter: 222mm
- Available in White (RAL9010)
- Installation system: three rotating tabs
Note: When using the ceiling speakers in 70V installations, the power ratings corresponding to the 100V position are reduced by half, and for 50V installations, they are reduced to a quarter.
All models in the series feature a protective grille that can be removed with the supplied hook. When removing the grille, be careful not to damage the speaker.
Connections
The connection terminals for the IC6 and IC8 models are pressure-type for bare wire. Once connected, simply select the operating mode and power of the unit using a screwdriver. Always observe polarity.
IC6 Connection Diagram:
For the IC3 model, the connection terminals are screw terminals. Connect the cables as follows:
- Between terminals "0" and "8 / 10W" (negative and positive respectively) for low impedance amplifier connection.
- Between terminals "COM" and "6W or 3W or 1.5W @ 100V" (negative and positive respectively) for high impedance amplifier connection, directly selecting a working power for the IC3 unit.
The IC range is supplied with the switch set to the 100V/70V position. Accidentally connecting the system to the 8Ω low impedance will not damage the speaker, but it will operate below its capabilities. Accidentally connecting the speaker to a 100V/70V network in the 8Ω position may cause serious damage.
The installation of each unit is easy using the 3 rotating tabs incorporated in the IC6 and IC8 models and the spring clips of the IC3 model. For more information on the installation method, refer to section 5 of this manual.
Placement and Mounting
To correctly install the unit, circular holes must be drilled at the desired locations, and the necessary connections made.
Follow these steps:
- Remove the protective grille using the supplied hook.
- Drill a circular hole in the false ceiling. For ease of installation, a cutting template is provided with each unit. This template has two parts: the outer part can be used as a template to mark the hole location on the ceiling, and the inner disc can protect the speaker cone if you wish to repaint the plastic part.
- Connect the installation cables to the unit using the pressure terminals.
- Insert the speaker into the hole made. Hold the unit with one hand and position it, ensuring the rotating tabs remain retracted.
- Screw in the 3 accessible screws on the front of the unit. The speaker is now fixed.
- Replace the protective grille.
Painting
The IC series speakers can be painted to be installed in various environments.
To paint a unit, proceed as follows:
- Remove the protective grille using the supplied hook.
- Separate the cutting/painting template into two parts and place the inner disc on the speaker cone for protection. The points on the disc facilitate its placement. Place the outer part of the template on the back of the speaker, on the plastic ring, to protect the back from paint splashes.
- Paint the protective grille and the speaker separately, taking care not to obstruct the grille holes. Use an air-drying paint.
- When the paint is dry, remove the protections. The unit is ready for installation.
