Safety

Safety Guidelines and Methods

Read the user manual carefully before assembling, maintaining, or using the equipment. Owners must follow all safety regulations in this manual. It is also the owner's responsibility to instruct users on safe and correct equipment use and to demonstrate all warning labels and instruction signs. All users should read these labels and signs before using the equipment.

[WARNING]

Failure to follow the safety instructions below may result in serious injury or death:

Equipment Anchoring

Owners must not allow equipment to be used until it is properly anchored as described below.

[WARNING]

Equipment Anchoring:

  • To maximize stability and eliminate rocking, tipping, or falling, the equipment must be anchored to a firm, level surface, utilizing all anchoring holes.
  • Fasteners must have a minimum tensile strength of 2430 kg. Cybex recommends 3/8-inch grade 2 bolts or better. A minimum pull-out force of 100 kg/220 lbs is required for each anchor point.
  • If a leg/frame is not in contact with the surface, do NOT pull it down with anchors. If any leg or frame part does not contact the floor, place flat washers underneath.
  • Due to the wide variations in flooring where machines may be anchored or installed, consult a qualified, licensed contractor to ensure safe anchoring and installation.

Facility Safety Measures

Do not allow anyone, including trainers, to use the equipment in a manner other than as indicated on the warning labels and instruction signs on each machine. Do not install the equipment on an uneven surface. The stable, level surface must not vary more than 32 mm (1/8 inch) over a distance of 3 m (10 ft), or as defined by local building codes. The facility owner is responsible for ensuring adequate space around each unit for safe movement and use. In accordance with the ADA (American Disabilities Act), there must be a clear floor space of at least 30 by 48 inches with an accessible path for at least one of each type of training equipment. If the clear space is enclosed on three sides (e.g., by walls or equipment), the clear space must be 36 by 48 inches. All other machines must have a clear floor space of 23 inches from all sides of the machine, unless otherwise shown in the user manual. Dimensions in the assembly instructions represent maximum (in use) footprints. All equipment should be used in a supervised, access-controlled area.

User Safety Measures

Owner must instruct users to DO the following:

  • Follow all warning labels and instruction signs when using the equipment.
  • Insert the weight pin fully before using selected equipment.
  • Consult a physician before starting any exercise program. If you feel faint, dizzy, or experience pain at any time during exercise, stop and consult your doctor.
  • Use a spotter when using free weight machines.

Owner must instruct users NOT to do the following:

  • DO NOT attach weights to selectorized equipment in a high position or use the machine if it is in this position.
  • DO NOT increase the weight resistance on the equipment in any way other than that provided by Cybex.
  • DO NOT wear loose or dangling clothing or jewelry while using adjustable strength machines. Stay clear of all moving parts.
  • DO NOT lean on or pull the machine.
  • DO NOT use the machine as a stretching support.
  • DO NOT attach resistance bands, ropes, or other equipment to the machine, other than those provided by the manufacturer for intended use on the machines.
  • DO NOT exceed the maximum specified user weight.
  • DO NOT use the equipment if it appears damaged or inoperable.
  • DO NOT use if guards are missing or damaged.
  • DO NOT remove labels or signs from the equipment.

Warnings and Observanda

Warning decals indicate a potentially hazardous situation that, if not followed, could result in death or serious injury. Caution decals indicate a potentially hazardous situation that, if not followed, could result in personal injury or equipment damage. Contact Cybex Customer Service to replace worn or damaged signs.
