Product Overview

The Topeak TetraFender G1/G2/R1/R2 are designed to provide protection from road spray and debris for your bicycle. This guide details their installation, compatibility, and features.

Compatibility

The TetraFender series offers different models optimized for various wheel and tire sizes.

TetraFender G1 & G2 Compatibility

Wheel Size: 650C - 700C

Tire Width: 32mm - 50mm

Mounting Width:

  • Front Fork (G1): 70mm - 100mm
  • Seatstays (G2): 70mm - 100mm

TetraFender R1 & R2 Compatibility

Wheel Size: 700C

Tire Width: 25mm - 32mm

Mounting Width:

  • Front Fork (R1): 55mm - 85mm
  • Seatstays (R2): 55mm - 85mm

Note: Not suitable for mounting on frames with unique geometries.

The TetraFender has a mounting length of 200mm. Seatstays and front forks must not contain any obstacles that prevent secure mounting.

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Mounting Base

Unscrew the 6 bolts of the mounting base using the 2.5mm Allen key. ?

Step 2: Mount to Fork/Seatstays

Front Fork Mounting (G1/R1): Ensure the front fork width is within the compatible range (70-100mm for G1, 55-85mm for R1).

Seatstay Mounting (G2/R2): Ensure the seatstay width is within the compatible range (70-100mm for G2, 55-85mm for R2).

Important Clearance Requirements:

  • Front Fork Clearance: Minimum 8mm for G1/G2, Minimum 20mm for R1/R2.
  • Seatstay Clearance: Minimum 8mm for G1/G2, Minimum 20mm for R1/R2.

⚠️ Warning: Do not install the TetraFender on screw holes, hose stops, or brake hoses. Ensure the fender is not obstructed by these components.

Step 3: Secure with Straps

Release the Velcro straps (4) on both sides of the mounting base and adjust the mounting position to the proper height.

Take the Velcro straps (13 or 14) with the metal loop and route them around the front forks or seatstays.

Buckle the metal loop into the hook of the strap tensioner (5).

Adjust the strap tensioner hook to the lowest position using the 2.5mm Allen key (8). ?

Tighten the straps to secure the mounting base to the bike frame. Use the 2.5mm Allen key to tighten the mounting base and bend slightly. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not overtighten the mounting base. ⚠️

Angle Adjustment

Adjustable aluminum struts allow for quick, perfect alignment and good tire coverage.

If the TetraFender is misaligned to the left side, please adjust the left mounting position upwards. The adjustable spacer (10) can be used to fine-tune the position.

Note on Frame Finish: To avoid marring the frame finish, ensure that the hook and loop fastener is installed and used correctly. The softer loop side should contact the frame surface only. ⚠️

3M Reflective Sticker

Affix the 3M Reflective Decal (12) into the designated groove (11) for increased visibility.

Important Warnings

Please read and follow these warnings carefully to ensure safe and proper use of your TetraFender.

  • ⚠️ Alignment: Ensure the TetraFender is aligned with the tire.
  • ? Torque: After installation, tighten all bolts to the recommended torque value (1.5 Nm).
  • ? Tire Clearance:
    • Front Fork: Must be larger than 8mm.
    • Seatstays: Must be larger than 20mm.
  • ⚠️ Damage/Injury Risk: Misalignment or inadequate tire clearance can cause damage to the TetraFender, your bike frame, or result in rider injury.
  • ? Cleanliness: Clean the frame/fork mounting area prior to installing the TetraFender.
  • ✔️ Post-Ride Check: Check the TetraFender after every ride for secure mounting. If there is any exaggerated movement, stop riding immediately.
  • ? Riding Style: Do not engage in extreme riding, such as jumping, when using the TetraFender.
  • ? Frame Protection: When fixing mounting straps, ensure the softer loop side contacts the frame to prevent marring the finish.

Warranty Information

Warranty Period: 2-year warranty on all mechanical components against manufacturer defects only.

Warranty Claim Requirements: To obtain warranty service, you must present your original sales receipt. If returned without a receipt, the warranty period will be assumed to begin on the date of manufacture.

Warranty Void Conditions: All warranties will be void if the product is damaged due to user crash, abuse, system alteration, modification, or used in any way not intended as described in this manual.
