Optimal Filter Performance
- Filter only cold tap water.
- Use BRITA water filters exclusively with tap water from municipal water treatment plants.
- Store filtered water in a cool place and consume within 24 hours.
- If advised to boil tap water, boil BRITA filtered water as well. Filter first, then boil.
- Clean the jug thoroughly and insert a new filter if the boiling advisory is lifted.
- Boiling tap water is generally recommended for certain groups, including babies and individuals with impaired immunity.

Operation: Very Easy
- Preparation:
- Before First Use & Filter Change: Clean the jug, funnel, and lid. Funnels and jugs (except BRITA Flow) are dishwasher safe (max. 50°C). Clean BRITA Flow by hand with cold or lukewarm water.
- Glass Jug Seals: Wash by hand to prevent discoloration; dry thoroughly before reattaching.
- Lid with BRITA Smart Light: Remove the Smart Light (turn counter-clockwise) before cleaning the lid. Clean the Smart Light with a soft, damp cloth; do not wash in the dishwasher.
- Lid with BRITA Memo: Clean the lid by hand as it is not dishwasher safe.
- Filter Preparation: Fill the clean jug with cold water. Immerse the filter in water and shake gently to remove air bubbles. Remove the filter and discard the water.
- Inserting the Filter: Insert the funnel into the jug. Place the MAXTRA PRO filter firmly into the funnel. Push down if water does not flow. BRITA guarantees optimal filtration only with MAXTRA PRO filters.
- Filling the Jug: Water from the funnel is filtered automatically into the jug.
- Activating the Filter: Allow two full funnels of tap water to pass through the filter before drinking for optimal taste and performance. Use this water for plants if desired.
- Setting the Exchange Indicator:
- BRITA Smart Light: Press and hold the reset button for 5-10 seconds until the LED flashes green three times. A flashing light indicates filter status: Green (optimal), Yellow (replace soon), Red (replace now). Check status by briefly pressing the button.
- BRITA Memo: Remove protective foil. Press and hold the 'START' button until four bars appear and flash twice. A flashing dot indicates operation. Replace filter when display flashes empty.
- Changing the Filter: Remove the old filter and follow steps 1-6.
Important Information
- Keep the jug and filter away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Store in a dark, cool, and dry place. Store new filters in original packaging.
- Keep BRITA Smart Light out of reach of children.
- Potassium Sensitivity: Filtered water may have slightly increased potassium. Consult a doctor if you have kidney issues or a low-potassium diet.
- Natural Traces: Small carbon particles may appear in filtered water; they are harmless. Rinse the filter until particles are no longer visible.
- Disposal: Dispose of BRITA Smart Light and BRITA Memo batteries according to regulations. Dispose of jugs and filters according to local regulations.
