This manual provides detailed information on the operation, features, and settings of the ENGWE EP-2 PRO e-bike display (Model: YL80C).

4.1 Function Overview
The YL80C display offers various functions to meet riding needs, including:

4.2 Functional Area Layout
The display is divided into several areas:
- Battery Status Indicator: Shows the remaining battery charge.
- Error Indicator: Displays error codes if any occur.
- Speed Indicator: Shows current speed, maximum speed, and average speed.
- Assistance Level Indicator: Displays the current level of motor assistance.
- Push Assist Indicator: Indicates when the push assist function is active.

4.3 Button Definitions
The YL80C display has five buttons: Power button, plus button, minus button, headlight button, and mode button.
5. General Operations
5.1 Power On/Off
Press and hold the power button to turn the display on. Pressing the power button again while the e-bike is on will turn it off. The display automatically powers off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
5.2 Display Interface
Upon powering on, the display shows real-time speed and trip distance. Pressing the mode button cycles through different information screens: trip distance, ODO, maximum speed, average speed, and power assist level.
5.3 Push Assist
Press and hold the push assist button to activate a constant 6 km/h speed for walking assistance. Releasing the button stops the motor immediately. This function is intended for walking the e-bike, not for riding.
5.4 Headlight On/Off
Press the headlight button to turn the headlights and display backlight on/off. When headlights are on, the backlight dims; when off, it returns to its normal brightness.
5.5 Selecting Assistance Level
Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to adjust the motor's output power and change the assistance level.
5.6 Battery Status Indicator
The battery indicator consists of five segments. All segments are lit when the battery is fully charged. If the voltage is low, the battery indicator outline will flash, indicating the need for immediate charging.
5.7 Motor Power Indicator
The display shows the motor's output power.
5.8 Error Code Indicator
If an error occurs in the e-bike's electronic control system, an error code will be displayed. Refer to Appendix 1 for detailed definitions of error codes. Promptly address any displayed error codes to ensure normal operation.
6. General Settings
All parameters can only be adjusted when the e-bike is stationary.
To enter general settings:
- With the display on and showing 0 speed, press and hold the power and mode buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds.
- Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to navigate through the general settings options, then press the mode button to enter parameter editing.
- Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select parameters.
- Press the mode button to save the parameter and return to the general settings options.
- Press and hold the mode button to save the parameter and exit general settings.
6.1 Reset Trip Distance
The 'tC' setting allows you to reset the trip distance. 'tC-y' resets the distance, while 'tC-n' does not.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select 'tC-y' or 'tC-n'. Press the mode button to save and return to the general settings menu.
6.2 Adjust Backlight Brightness
The 'bL' setting adjusts backlight brightness. 'bL-1' is minimum, 'bL-2' is normal, and 'bL-3' is maximum brightness.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the desired brightness level. Press the mode button to save and return to the general settings menu.
6.3 Metric/Imperial Settings
The 'U' setting allows switching between metric and imperial units. 'U-1' is imperial, and 'U-2' is metric.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the desired unit system. Press the mode button to save and return to the general settings menu.
7. General Parameter Settings
To access general parameter settings:
- With the display on and showing 0 speed, press and hold the power and mode buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds to enter the general selection interface.
- Press and hold the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds to enter the parameter settings interface.
- Press the mode button to activate the function and enter the parameter editing interface.
- Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select parameters.
- Press the mode button to save the parameter and enter the next parameter settings interface.
- Press and hold the mode button to save the parameter and exit the general parameter settings interface.
7.1 Wheel Diameter Setting
The 'Ld' setting is for wheel diameter. Available parameters are 8-26 inches, 700C, and 28-30 inches. This setting ensures accurate speed and distance readings.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the appropriate wheel diameter. Press the mode button to save and proceed to the next setting.
7.2 Speed Limit Setting
The 'LS' setting allows you to set the maximum speed limit for the e-bike. The adjustable range is 12 km/h to 40 km/h.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the desired speed limit. Press the mode button to save and proceed to the next setting.
8. Custom Settings
This section covers various customizable settings to meet individual rider needs:
- Battery charge level setting
- Assistance parameter settings
- Current limit setting
- Speed sensor setting
- Handlebar function settings
- System settings
- Power-on password setting
Note: Not all protocols support all custom settings for the YL80C display.
To access custom settings:
- With the display on and showing 0 speed, press and hold the power and mode buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds to enter the general settings interface.
- Press and hold the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds to enter the custom settings interface.
- Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to cycle through functions, then press the mode button to enter parameter editing.
- Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select parameters.
- Press the mode button to save the parameter and proceed to the next setting. Alternatively, press and hold the mode button to save and return to the custom settings selection interface. Press and hold the minus (-) button for over 2 seconds to discard changes and return to the custom settings interface.
- Press and hold the mode button to save and exit the custom settings interface.
8.1 Battery Charge Level Setting
The 'VOL' setting allows you to set the battery charge level. You need to input voltage values corresponding to different charge levels (e.g., for a 36V battery, '1' indicates the first voltage value, and '31.5' indicates the first charge level value).
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to adjust the value, then press the mode button to confirm and set the battery charge level parameter. The display will then show the next interface for setting the remaining battery charge levels.
8.2 Assistance Parameter Settings (Optional)
The 'SCR' setting is for assistance parameter settings. Press the mode button to enter the editing interface.
8.2.1 Assistance Level Selection
Available assistance levels include 0-3, 1-3, 0-5, 1-5, 0-7, 1-7, 0-9, and 1-9 levels.
Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to switch levels. Press the mode button to confirm the level and proceed to section 8.2.2. Alternatively, press and hold the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.2.2 Setting Assistance Ratio
The assistance ratio can be adjusted to suit different riders' needs. For example, '45-55%' might be the range for level 1, with '50%' as the default value.
Press the mode button to edit parameters. Press the mode button to confirm the setting and proceed to the next parameter setting interface. After setting all levels, press the mode button again to return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.3 Current Limit Setting
The 'CUr' setting is for the current limit. The range is 7.0-25.0A.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select parameters. Press the mode button to save and return to the custom settings interface.
8.4 Assist Sensor Settings (Optional)
The 'PAS' setting is for the assist sensor. Press the mode button to enter the parameter editing interface.
8.4.1 Sensor Direction Setting
This setting determines the direction of the assist sensor. 'run-F' indicates forward, and 'run-b' indicates backward.
Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the sensor direction. Press the mode button to confirm and proceed to the sensor sensitivity setting (8.4.2), or press and hold the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.4.2 Sensor Sensitivity Setting
The 'SCN' setting adjusts the assist sensor's sensitivity. The range is 2-9, where 2 is maximum sensitivity and 9 is minimum sensitivity.
Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select sensitivity. Press the mode button to confirm and proceed to the magnet count setting (8.4.3), or press and hold the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.4.3 Steel Magnet Count Setting for Magnetic Disc Assist
The 'N' setting is for the number of steel magnets for the magnetic disc assist. The selectable ranges are 5, 9, 12, 24.
Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the magnet count. Press the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.5 Speed Sensor Setting
The 'SPS' setting configures the speed sensor based on the number of magnetic heads on the e-bike wheel. The range is 1-15.
Press the mode button to enter parameter editing. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the parameter. Press the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.6 Handlebar Function Settings (Optional)
The 'Hnd' setting is for handlebar function configuration.
8.6.1 Controller Activation
The 'HL' setting indicates the handlebar push assist. 'HL-N' means the function is active, and 'HL-Y' means it is off. If 'HL-Y' is selected, turning the handlebar activates the push assist mode.
Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the parameter. If 'HL-Y' is chosen, press the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings interface. If 'HL-N' is chosen, press the mode button to confirm and proceed to the handlebar support level setting (8.6.2), or press and hold the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.6.2 Handlebar Support Level Setting
The 'HF-Y' setting enables handlebar support level, while 'HF-N' disables it. If 'HF-Y' is selected, turning the handlebar will limit the maximum speed to the level indicated on the display. If 'HF-N' is selected, the e-bike can reach its rated maximum speed without the support level limitation.
Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to adjust the handlebar support. Press the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings interface.
8.7 System Settings (Optional)
The 'SYS' option is for system settings. Press the mode button to enter the parameter editing interface.
8.7.1 Battery Delay Time Setting
The 'dLY' setting is for battery delay time. There are three options: 3s, 6s, and 12s.
Press the mode button to select a parameter. Press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to choose the delay time. Press the mode button to confirm and proceed to 8.7.2. Alternatively, use the Setup Enable Assistant function, or press and hold the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.7.2 Button Press Assist Setting
The 'PUS' setting is for button press assist. 'Y' means enabled, and 'N' means disabled.
Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the parameter. Press the mode button to confirm and return to the custom options selection interface.
8.8 Power-On Password Setting (Optional)
The 'PSd' setting is for the power-on password. The default password is 1212.
Press the mode button to enter the password setting interface. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select a parameter, then press the mode button to confirm. The cursor moves for input. After entering the 4-digit password, press the mode button to confirm. If the password is correct, the display will show the option to enable password setting in 8.8.1. Otherwise, it remains on the password input screen.
8.8.1 Setting Power-On Password
You can set a password for power-on. 'PSd-Y' requires a password at startup, while 'PSd-N' does not.
Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to select the parameter. If 'PSd-N' is selected, press the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface. If 'PSd-Y' is selected, press the mode button to enter the password editing setting (8.8.2), or press and hold the mode button to confirm and return to the custom settings selection interface.
8.8.2 Change Password Setting
The 'P3' setting allows modification of the power-on password. Press the mode button to move the cursor and select parameters. After editing, press and hold the mode button to save and confirm the parameter, then return to the custom settings selection interface. If the display restarts, 'P1 0000' will appear, and the system will not function normally until the correct password is entered.
9. Restore Default Settings
The 'dEF' setting allows restoring default parameters. 'dEF-Y' means restore defaults, and 'dEF-N' means do not restore.
On the normal display interface, press and hold the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons simultaneously for over 2 seconds to enter the restore default settings interface. Switch the parameter using the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons. If 'Y' is selected, press and hold the mode button for over 2 seconds to confirm the parameter. The display will show 'dEF-0' and automatically initiate the default settings restoration. Upon completion, the system will exit and return to the normal display interface.
10. Quality Commitments and Warranty Period
10.1 Warranty Information
- The company provides a limited warranty for defects caused by normal use under the product's quality standards.
- The warranty period is a maximum of 12 months from the date of shipment.
10.2 Non-Warranty Scope
- Cover is open.
- Connector is damaged.
- Cover is scratched or damaged during transport.
- Display output line is scratched or broken.
- Force majeure events (e.g., fire, earthquake) or natural disasters (e.g., lightning strikes).
- Warranty period has expired.
11. Wiring Diagram
11.1 Standard Connector Wiring Options
The display unit uses waterproof connectors. The wiring colors and connections are as follows:

12. Reflections
Use the display safely and avoid connecting or disconnecting it while powered on. Avoid impacts whenever possible. Do not alter display backlight parameters, as it may affect normal operation. If the display malfunctions, it should be repaired promptly. Due to product updates, some content or functions may differ from this manual; refer to the actual model.
