1. Installation Overview
This section provides an overview of the approved installation process for the Honeywell DUAL TEC® Motion Sensor. Ensure the installation area is clear and unobstructed.
Key Installation Steps:
- Mounting Location: Position the sensor to cover the desired area.
- Wiring: Connect the sensor to the alarm system.
- Cover Closure: Secure the sensor cover.
Placement Guidelines:
- Maintain a clear area around the sensor.
- Avoid obstructions.
- Recommended mounting height: 2.1 - 2.7 meters (7' - 9').
- Optimal mounting height for look-down coverage: 2.3 meters (7' 6").
2. Mounting and Wiring
This section details the physical installation and electrical connections.
Mounting:
- Use 3.5 mm x 30 mm (#6 x 1 1/4") screws for mounting. Screws are not included.
- The sensor can be mounted directly to a wall or in a corner.
Wiring Connections (Terminal Block):
Terminal | Description | Specifications |
---|---|---|
LED | LED Indicator | |
TBL | Tamper Bypass Link | |
T | Tamper Input | |
C | Common Ground | |
NC | Normally Closed Output | |
V- | Negative Power Supply | 0 VDC |
V+ | Positive Power Supply | 9-15 Vcc/VDC |
Power Consumption:
- Standby: 1.8 mA max
- Alarm: 11 mA (14 mA max)
EOL Resistors:
- EOL resistors (25 Vcc/VDC, 30 mA) are used for Alarm, Tamper, and AM/Fault circuits.
3. End-of-Line (EOL) Resistance Settings
Configure the EOL resistances using the DIP switches for Alarm, Tamper, and AM/Fault circuits.
EOL Resistance Values (kOhm):
- Position 1: 1 kOhm
- Position 2: 2.2 kOhm
- Position 3: 4.7 kOhm
- Position 4: 5.6 kOhm
The DIP switches allow selection of these values for each circuit.
4. Anti-Mask and Sensitivity Adjustment
The sensor features anti-masking capabilities and adjustable microwave sensitivity.
Anti-Mask (AM) Settings:
- AM Enabled: ON position.
- AM Disabled: OFF position.
- The AM LED indicates anti-mask status.
Microwave (MW) Range Adjustment (Sensitivity):
- Adjust sensitivity from MIN to MAX.
- Note: When set to minimum, the sensor range is reduced to 5 meters.
Factory Default Settings:
The sensor is pre-configured with factory default settings for optimal performance.
5. Walk Test Procedure
Perform a walk test to verify sensor operation and coverage.
Walk Test Reset:
- Hold the walk test button for 1/2 second, 4 times.
- The AM LED will indicate the walk test mode.
LED Indicators during Walk Test (10 min duration):
LED Color | Power Up | Walk Test (10 min) | Normal | Trouble | Anti-Mask |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Slow Blink | ON Alarm | ON Alarm | Fast Blink | Fast Blink |
Yellow | OFF | ON Microwave | OFF | OFF | Fast Blink |
Green | OFF | ON PIR | OFF | OFF | OFF |
6. Coverage Patterns
The sensor provides comprehensive coverage, detailed in the plan and side views.
Plan View (All Zones):
- Detection zones extend up to 12 meters (40 feet) from the sensor.
- Zones are distributed symmetrically from the center.
Side View:
- Look-down Zone (A): Covers the area directly beneath the sensor.
- Lower Zones (B): Short-range detection.
- Intermediate Zones (C): Mid-range detection.
- Long-range Zones (D): Extends up to 16 meters (53 feet) at a height of 2.3 meters (7'6").
7. Approval Listings and Compliance
The Honeywell DUAL TEC® Motion Sensor complies with various international standards.
Certifications:
- EN50131-2-4:2008: Security Grade 3, Environmental Class II. Suitable for connection to an EN 60950 Class II Limited Power Source.
- NF&A2P (France): 3 shields (NF324-H58) compliant with EN50131-2-4 and RTC50131-2-4. IP30 IK04.
- DT8016AF4 Certificate N°: 2831420015
- DT8016AF5 Certificate N°: 2821420015
- Certification Body: CNPP Cert. (www.cnpp.com) and AFNOR Cert. (www.marque-nf.com).
- INCERT (Belgium): B-893-0012 (for DT8016AF4).
Important Note for EN 50131-2-4 Compliant Installations:
- Mount the sensor at 2.3m.
- Do not use only the right side corner mounting holes.
- Enable look-down feature.
- Set microwave sensitivity to maximum.
- Lock the sensor housing with the cover lock.
Annual Testing: The sensor should be tested at least once per year.
