Handling the Watch

(1) Water Resistance

The water resistance of your watch is indicated by markings on the dial or case. Use the following table as a guide:

Type Operating Conditions Water Resistance (Washing, Rain) Light Water Contact (Washing, Rain, etc.) Water Sports (Swimming, etc.) Diving (without gas) Diving (with gas) Diving (with helium mixture)
Water-permeable Without markings
WATER RESISTANT (WATER RESIST)
Water-resistant for daily use WATER RESISTANT (WATER RESIST)
Enhanced water resistance watches WATER RESISTANT (WATER RESIST)
Class I for daily use
50m (5 bar)
WATER RESISTANT (WATER RESIST)
Class II for daily use
100m (10 bar)
200m (20 bar)
Diver's watches Diver's watches for scuba diving
100m / 150m
200m
Diver's watches for diving with breathing mixture He-GAS DIVER'S
200m / 300m /...

* It is recommended to use the watch in accordance with the above classification, after checking the water resistance marking on the dial or case.

Usage Guidelines for Water Resistance Levels:

  1. Watches with water resistance for daily use (30m / 3 bar) can be used for washing hands and similar activities, but not for immersion in water.
  2. Watches with enhanced water resistance for daily use, Class I (50m / 5 bar), can be used for swimming, etc., but not for diving or underwater swimming.
  3. Watches with enhanced water resistance for daily use, Class II (100m or 200m / 10 or 20 bar), can be used for diving or underwater swimming, but not for diving with oxygen tanks or using helium-based self-contained breathing apparatus.

(2) Battery

⚠️ DANGER
Swallowing a button-type battery can cause chemical burns and damage to mucous membranes in a short time, potentially leading to death in severe cases. Never give button-type batteries to children. If a battery is swallowed or if you suspect it has been swallowed, remove it immediately. Seek emergency medical attention.

❗ WARNING
Do not remove the battery from the watch yourself. For battery replacement, contact the seller or the nearest authorized ORIENT service center.
This watch uses a battery, not a rechargeable battery, so it cannot be recharged. Recharging the battery may lead to overheating or explosion.
If battery fluid comes into contact with skin, a rash or other symptoms may appear. Do not store discharged batteries for extended periods.

(3) Battery Replacement

ℹ️ ATTENTION
If a discharged battery is left in the watch for a long time, acid leakage may occur, which can impair the watch's operation. Replace discharged batteries as soon as possible.
Install only batteries of the specified type.
Special tools and techniques are used for battery replacement. Incorrect polarity may lead to battery overheating and explosion. For battery replacement, contact the seller or the nearest authorized ORIENT service center.

(4) Impact Resistance

(5) Magnetic Fields

(6) Vibration

The watch may lose accuracy if exposed to strong vibration, for example, from motorcycle riding, using a jackhammer, chainsaw, etc.

[Illustration: A motorcycle, indicating that strong vibrations from such activities can affect watch accuracy.]

(7) Temperature

The watch may run incorrectly or stop at temperatures below or above the normal range (5°C – 35°C).

ℹ️ ATTENTION
Do not wear the watch in high temperatures (e.g., in a sauna). The watch may become hot and cause burns.

(8) Chemicals, Gases, etc.

Exercise maximum caution when in contact with gases, mercury, chemical substances (paint thinner, gasoline, various solvents, cleaning agents containing such substances, glues, paints, medicines, perfumes, cosmetics, etc.). These substances may change the color of the watch case, bracelet/strap, and dial. Color changes, deformation, and damage to polymer components are also possible.

(9) Additional Details

ℹ️ ATTENTION
Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the watch.

❗ WARNING
Do not give bracelet/strap pins and other small parts to children. If a small part is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

(10) Allergic Reactions

ℹ️ ATTENTION
If you experience a rash or irritation on your skin after contact with the bracelet, stop wearing the watch and seek medical attention immediately.

(11) Luminescent Coating

Some models have luminescent coating on the hands and dial ring. It is made of safe, non-radioactive paint that absorbs sunlight and artificial light and emits it in the dark. As it emits stored light, the coating gradually becomes dimmer. The amount of light emitted and the duration of luminescence depend on various factors: glass shape, paint layer thickness, ambient brightness, distance from the watch to the light source, and the amount of light absorbed. Remember that if little light is absorbed, the watch will glow weakly or for a short time.

(12) Water-Resistant Bracelet

Some models use leather and nylon straps that have been specially treated to protect against sweat and water. The water-resistant property of this bracelet may be lost depending on the period and conditions of use.
