Structure and Principle of Operation

The manufacturer reserves the right to install various actuators that ensure the stated technical parameters of the dampers.

In the closed position, the damper ensures tight contact of the blades with the housing's seating surfaces. The housing is the main load-bearing structure of the damper, with one or two connection flanges on its end surfaces (depending on the version).

The smoke exhaust damper is closed in its normal (standby) position, with its blades flush with the passage cross-section.

When power is supplied to the electromagnet, the blade opens via a spring, after which a limit switch breaks the circuit and disconnects the electromagnet from the power supply. The blade returns to its initial position manually.

In the actuator version, the blade automatically moves to the normal (standby) position when power is supplied to the actuator. In case of fire, a control signal from fire alarms, automatic fire suppression systems, or other sources de-energizes the actuator, and its return spring moves the damper to the open position. The position of the blades can be monitored via indicator lights connected to the actuator's contacts.

If the power supply is disconnected (not due to fire) and then reconnected, the damper blades automatically return to the normal (standby) position.

In the two-wire control version, the damper blades are moved to the OPEN or CLOSED position by an external control signal that applies voltage to the actuator's terminals.

Additional Options

Additional equipment for installation is sold separately and can be purchased at the customer's request.

Smoke Exhaust Grille RD

The smoke exhaust grille can be used to fully cover the internal cavity of the damper from external view, especially where strict decorative requirements are absent. It also protects the damper and its actuator from unauthorized access. The grille features one row of fixed 45° air louvers. It can be made of galvanized steel, carbon steel with special coating (M), stainless steel (N), or aluminum.

Anti-Vandal Mesh

Used to protect the actuator from possible external influences.

Decorative Aluminum Grille

For enhanced design requirements, a decorative grille made of aluminum can be supplied. It also features fixed 45° louvers and is treated with polymer coating or anodized for atmospheric protection.

Mounting Frame

Facilitates damper installation in wall openings, provides additional rigidity, and prevents damper deformation during mounting. Installation is done directly with self-tapping screws to the mounting frame flange.

Installation and Connection

⚠️ Before installation, ensure the housing is free of foreign objects, such as film or paper.

⚠️ During installation, ensure minimal access to the unit for servicing or repair.

Dampers are not intended for installation in air ducts and channels of premises with fire and explosion hazard categories A and B, in local exhaust systems for removing fire hazardous mixtures, or in systems containing media aggressive to ordinary carbon steels, or media with sticky and fibrous materials.

Fire dampers are intended only for installation in systems that are regularly cleaned to prevent the formation of combustible deposits.

Installation of the damper in a fire-resistant enclosing structure must be carried out according to DBN V.1.1-7-2003. The fire resistance of the seal must not be lower than that of the enclosing structure.

Installation Recommendations:

Important Note on Installation: When preparing the damper for installation, it is crucial to brace the damper housing with wooden spacers to prevent possible warping, twisting, or deformation of the housing geometry, which could lead to blade jamming and loss of functionality. After the damper is built into the smoke shaft, fire wall, or ceiling, and the sealant has fully cured, remove the wooden spacers. The blades should then open freely without friction.

Ground the damper, connect the electromagnet or actuator (depending on the model) to the automatic fire suppression system, and test the damper's operation.

Electrical Connection

⚠️ BEFORE PERFORMING ANY WORK ON THE PRODUCT, THE POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED.

CONNECTION OF THE PRODUCT TO THE MAINS MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN AUTHORIZED FOR WORK WITH ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS UP TO 1000 V, AFTER STUDYING THIS USER MANUAL.

Nominal electrical parameters of the product are indicated on the manufacturer's label.

The product is designed for connection to a single-phase AC power grid with a voltage of 220 V/24 (50 Hz). The КПДУ or КПД damper should be powered from a central fire extinguishing control panel using a cable with copper conductors (8x0.5 mm²) according to the schematic diagram connected to terminal block X1.

Electrical Connection Diagram for КПД/КПДУ Damper with Spring-Return Actuator

Description: Diagram illustrates the connection for a damper with a spring-return actuator. It shows the electric motor (M) and a contact group. Terminals 1 and 2 are for power supply (neutral and phase for closing). Terminals S1-S6 are for limit switches signaling end positions.

Electrical Connection Diagram for КПД/КПДУ Damper with 2-Position Actuator

Description: Diagram shows wiring for a damper with a 2-position actuator. It includes the electric motor (M) and a contact group. Terminals 1 and 2,3 are for power supply (neutral and phase for closing/opening). Terminals S1-S6 are for limit switches signaling end positions.

Operation Sequence: When the contact of the automatic fire suppression system (PK) is closed, the damper electromagnet (YA1) is activated, opening the blade. This releases the limit switch (SQ1) plunger, which breaks the circuit and disconnects the electromagnet from the power supply. Button SB1 is used for manual blade opening.

Maintenance

⚠️ PRODUCT MAINTENANCE IS PERMITTED ONLY AFTER DISCONNECTING IT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. ENSURE THE PRODUCT IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE REMOVING ANY COVERS.

Damper maintenance involves preventive inspections and functional checks. The frequency of maintenance should comply with the established schedules for the fire protection complex of the facility.
