Casio 3463 Operation Guide

About This Manual

This manual provides reference information for the product. Illustrations are for guidance and may differ slightly from the actual product. Expressions like "sounds the alarm" should be understood as "causes the watch to vibrate" when the Vibration Alarm is active.

General Guide

Use [Button C] to change between modes. After performing an operation in any mode, pressing [Button C] returns to the Timekeeping Mode. If no button is pressed for a few minutes during settings (indicated by flashing display), the watch automatically exits the setting screen and returns to the normal display for that mode.

Holding [Button C] for one or two seconds will return the watch to the Timekeeping Mode from any other mode. This is useful if you lose track of your current mode or next step.

Press [Button L] in any mode to illuminate the display for approximately two seconds.

The watch display shows different modes, indicated by labels such as 'TR' (Timekeeping), 'ST' (Stopwatch), 'AL' (Alarm), and 'DT' (Dual Time). The specific layout and indicators vary by mode.

Timekeeping Mode

This is the primary mode for displaying the current time, date, and day of the week.

To set the time and date

1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down [Button A] until the seconds digits flash, indicating they are selected.

2. Press [Button C] to cycle through the selections in the following order: Seconds, Hour, Minutes, 12/24-Hour Format, Year, Month, Day.

3. To adjust the seconds: While seconds are flashing, press [Button D] to reset them to 00. If the seconds are between 30-59 when reset, the minutes will increment by one. If between 00-29, minutes remain unchanged.

4. To adjust other digits (Hour, Minutes, Year, Month, Day): While the desired digits are flashing, press [Button D] to increase the number or [Button B] to decrease it. Holding down either button allows for high-speed adjustment.

5. To toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour formats: While the 12/24-Hour Format setting is selected, press [Button D] or [Button B] to switch.

Format Indicators:

The year can be set between 2000 and 2099. The watch features a full auto-calendar that automatically adjusts for month lengths and leap years. The day of the week is displayed automatically based on the date settings.

6. After setting the time and date, press [Button A] to return to the Timekeeping Mode.

Illumination

Press [Button L] in any mode to illuminate the display for about two seconds. Illumination may be difficult to see in direct sunlight. It automatically turns off when an alarm sounds. Frequent use of illumination can drain the battery.

Vibration Alarm

When the Vibration Alarm is active, the watch vibrates instead of sounding an audible alarm, allowing for discreet alerts. This feature can replace audible alarms in Countdown Alarm, Stopwatch, and Alarm Modes. Note that expressions like "sounds the alarm" in this manual refer to vibration when the Vibration Alarm is on. Watches with metal bands might produce a slight noise during vibration due to band resonance, which is normal.

To turn the vibration alarm on and off

In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down [Button D] for about two seconds. The watch will vibrate when turning the alarm ON and beep when turning it OFF. The Vibration Alarm on indicator ? will be displayed when it is ON.

Turning the Vibration Alarm ON also disables the button operation tone.

Countdown Alarm Mode

This mode allows you to set a countdown timer ranging from 1 second to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, an alarm sounds for 10 seconds or until any button is pressed.

To set the countdown start time

1. In the Countdown Alarm Mode, hold down [Button A] until the hour digits flash.

2. Press [Button C] to cycle through the selections: Hour, Minutes, Seconds.

3. Adjust the selected number using [Button D] (increase) or [Button B] (decrease). Holding a button enables high-speed adjustment.

- Pressing [Button D] and [Button B] simultaneously clears the starting time to 0:00'00".

- To set a 24-hour countdown, set the time to 0:00'00".

4. After setting the start time, press [Button A] to return to the Countdown Alarm Mode.

To use the countdown alarm

1. Press [Button D] in Countdown Alarm Mode to start the countdown.

2. Press [Button D] again to stop the countdown. You can resume it by pressing [Button D] again.

3. After stopping the countdown, press [Button B] to reset the countdown time to its original starting value.

When the countdown reaches zero, an alarm sounds for 10 seconds or until any button is pressed. The countdown stops, and the time automatically resets to its starting value after the alarm stops.

Stopwatch Mode

The Stopwatch Mode allows measurement of elapsed time, split times, and times for two finishers. The measuring capacity is up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59.99 seconds. It also includes an Auto-Start function.

About the Auto-Start function

When Auto-Start is active, pressing [Button D] initiates a five-second countdown. The stopwatch then starts automatically when the countdown reaches zero. A beeper sounds for each of the final three seconds.

To turn the Auto-Start function on and off

While the Stopwatch Mode display shows all zeros, press [Button B] to toggle the Auto-Start function ON or OFF. The AUTO-ST indicator and "05" will appear in the upper display when Auto-Start is ON. When OFF, only the current time is shown in the upper part of the display.
