Important Safety Information
WARNING: Carefully read, understand, and follow all information in this user manual before installing and using the swimming pool. These warnings, instructions, and safety guidelines address some common risks of water recreation, but they cannot cover all risks and dangers in all cases. Always use caution, common sense, and good judgment when enjoying any water activity. Retain this information for future use.
Non-Swimmer Safety
- Continuous, active, and vigilant supervision of weak swimmers and non-swimmers by a competent adult is required at all times (children under five are at the highest risk of drowning).
- Designate a competent adult to supervise the pool each time it is being used.
- Weak swimmers or non-swimmers should wear personal protection equipment when using the pool.
- When the pool is not in use, or unsupervised, remove all toys from the swimming pool and its surroundings to avoid attracting children to the pool.
Safety Devices
- To prevent children from drowning, it is recommended to secure the access to the pool with a protection device.
- To prevent children climbing from the inlet and outlet valve, it is recommended to install a barrier (and secure all doors and windows, where applicable) to prevent unauthorized access to the swimming pool.
- Barriers, pool covers, pool alarms, or similar safety devices are helpful aids, but they are not substitutes for continuous and competent adult supervision.
Safety Equipment
- It is recommended to keep rescue equipment (e.g., a ring buoy ?) by the pool.
- Keep a working phone and a list of emergency phone numbers near the pool.
Safe Use of the Pool
- Encourage all users, especially children, to learn how to swim.
- Learn Basic Life Support (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR) and refresh this knowledge regularly. This can make a life-saving difference in the event of an emergency.
- Instruct all pool users, including children, what to do in case of an emergency.
- Never dive into any shallow body of water. This can lead to serious injury or death.
- Do not use the swimming pool when using alcohol or medication that may impair your ability to safely use the pool.
- When pool covers are used, remove them completely from the water surface before entering the pool.
- Protect pool occupants from water-related illnesses by keeping the pool water treated and practicing good hygiene. Consult the water treatment guidelines in the user's manual.
- Store chemicals (e.g., water treatment, cleaning, or disinfection products) out of the reach of children.
- Use the signage as outlined below. Signage is to be displayed in a prominent position within 2m of the pool.
General safety reminders: Keep children under supervision in the aquatic environment. No diving. Removable ladders should be placed on a horizontal surface. Accessible surfaces must be checked regularly to avoid injuries. Regularly monitor bolts and screws; remove splinters or sharp edges. ATTENTION: Do not leave the drained pool outside; it may deform or displace due to wind. If you have a filter pump, refer to its manual. WARNING: The pump cannot be used while people are inside the pool! If you have a ladder, refer to its manual. WARNING: Pool use implies compliance with safety instructions.
Choosing the Correct Location
The surface chosen to install the pool must respect the following technical characteristics:
- The surface must uniformly support the total weight of the water and users. Consider that water may escape and soften the surface.
- Check regularly the position of vertical legs and U-supports. If they sink into the ground, drain the water immediately to avoid collapse. Relocate or reinforce the surface.
- Position the pool away from objects children could use to climb into the pool.
- Place the pool near an adequate drainage system for overflow or discharge.
- The surface must be flat and smooth. Inclines or unevenness can cause unbalanced loading, damage the liner, and bend the frame, potentially leading to collapse and injury.
- The selected surface must be clear of any objects that could damage or perforate the pool bottom due to the water's weight.
- The selected surface must be clear of aggressive plants and weeds, which could grow through the liner and cause leaks. Remove grass or vegetation that may cause odor or slime.
- The location must not have overhead power lines or trees. Ensure there are no underground utility pipes, lines, or cables.
- Position the pool away from house entrances. Do not place equipment or furniture around the pool, as escaping water can cause damage.
- The selected surface must be flat and without holes that can damage the liner material.
Follow these instructions carefully. Damage due to improper setup is not a manufacturing defect and will void the warranty.
Suggested set-up surfaces: grass, ground, concrete, and other suitable surfaces.
Not suggested surfaces: mud, sand, gravel, deck, balcony, driveway, platform, soft/loose soil, or surfaces not meeting the above conditions.
Check local city council by-laws for fencing, barriers, lighting, and safety requirements. Refer to the filter pump's manual if applicable. Ensure the ladder matches the pool size and is used correctly.
Pool Maintenance
Failure to adhere to maintenance guidelines can risk your health, especially that of children.
Using Chemical Tablets (not included)
NOTE: Use Chemconnect or Chemical Floater for tablet maintenance. If your item does not include these dispensers, they can be purchased on www.bestwaycorp.com or at a local pool dealer.
IMPORTANT: Do not use granular tablets or throw tablets directly into the water, as chemicals can deposit on the bottom, damage the material, and discolor the PVC.
Using Chemical Liquid (not included)
IMPORTANT: Add chemical liquid in small doses in the center of the pool to avoid direct contact with the PVC surface, which can cause damage and discoloration.
NOTE: Remove the chemical dispenser from the pool when it is in use.
IMPORTANT: After chemical maintenance and before using the pool, use a test kit (not included) to test water chemistry. Maintain water according to the following table:
Parameter | Values |
---|---|
Water clarity | Clear view of the pool bottom |
Colour of the water | No colour should be observed |
Turbidity in FNU/NTU | max. 1.5 (preferably less than 0.5) |
Nitrate concentration above that of fill water in mg/l | max. 20 |
Total organic carbon (TOC) in mg/l | max. 4.0 |
Redox potential against Ag/AgCl 3.5 m KCl in mV | min. 650 |
pH value | 6.8 to 7.6 |
Free active chlorine (without cyanuric acid) in mg/l | 0.3 to 1.5 |
Free chlorine used in combination with cyanuric acid in mg/l | 1.0 to 3.0 |
Cyanuric acid in mg/l | max. 100 |
Combined chlorine in mg/l | max. 0.5 (preferably close to 0.0 mg/l) |
NOTE: Damage from chemical imbalance is not covered by warranty. Pool chemicals are toxic; handle with care. Chemical vapors and improper storage pose health risks. Consult your local pool supply retailer for chemical maintenance information and follow manufacturer instructions. Pool damage from misuse of chemicals and mismanagement of pool water is not covered by warranty. IMPORTANT: Overuse of chemicals can discolor printing and pool material, and damage the liner structure.
Keeping Your Pool Clean
- Consult your local pool supply shop for advice and chemicals/pH kits. Maintaining clean, healthy water is crucial for liner longevity. Follow professional technician instructions for water treatment.
- Place a bucket of water next to the pool to clean users' feet before entering.
- Cover the pool when not in use.
- Skim the pool surface regularly to remove settled dirt.
- Check and wash the filter cartridge regularly.
- Gently clean any scum from below the top ring with a clean cloth.
- Be careful in case of rain; check that the water level is not higher than expected. If so, discharge excess water.
- If it rains, check the water level against the specified level. If it exceeds, drain the pool to the specified level.
Proper maintenance maximizes pool life. The filtration system must operate daily during the season to ensure at least one complete water volume renewal. The pump circulates and filters water; chemicals must also be added for cleanliness and hygiene.
Repair
In case of a leak, use the provided underwater adhesive repair patch. Instructions are available in the FAQs on www.bestwaycorp.com.
Dismantling
- Unscrew the drain valve cap counter-clockwise and remove it.
- Connect the adaptor to the hose and place the other end in the drainage area. (Check local drainage by-laws).
- Screw the control ring of the hose adaptor clockwise onto the drain valve. The valve will open, and water will drain automatically. ATTENTION: Water flow can be controlled with the control ring.
- When draining is finished, unscrew the control ring to close the valve.
- Disconnect the hose.
- Screw the cap back onto the drain valve.
- Air dry the pool.
- ATTENTION: Do not leave the drained pool outside.
Storage
- Remove and store all accessories and spare parts clean and dry.
- Once completely dry, sprinkle with talcum powder to prevent sticking, then fold the pool carefully. If not fully dry, mold may form and damage the liner.
- Store the liner and accessories in a dry place with moderate temperatures (5°C / 41°F to 38°C / 100°F).
- Store pool and accessories as instructed during the rainy season.
- Improper draining can cause serious personal injury and/or property damage.
- It is strongly recommended to disassemble the pool during the off-season (winter months). Store in a dry location out of children's reach.
Installation
Installation typically takes 20-30 minutes with 2-3 people, excluding earthworks and filling. Assembly can be done without tools. Sprinkle the top rail with talcum powder (not included, easily available) before assembly to prolong pool life.
Bestway is not responsible for damage caused by mishandling or failure to follow these instructions.
- Lay out all parts and check quantities against the components list. Visit www.bestwaycorp.com for assistance or FAQs.
- Spread out the pool, ensuring the correct side is up. Let it sit in direct sunlight for at least 1 hour to make it more flexible for setup.
- Place the pool near an adequate drainage system. Ensure inlet A and outlet B are positioned correctly for filter pump connection.
- NOTE: Do not use extension power cords for the pump.
- ATTENTION: Do not drag the pool on the ground, as this can damage it.
Drawings are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the actual product or scale.
Filling Pool with Water
ATTENTION: Do not leave the pool unattended while filling.
- Fill the pool until the water reaches the welding line, located 5cm-20cm (2.0"-7.9") from the top of the pool. DO NOT OVERFILL, as this could cause the pool to collapse. In heavy rainfall, you may need to empty some water to maintain the correct level.
- After filling, check that the water is not collecting on any side to ensure the pool is level.
- IMPORTANT: If the pool is not level, drain the water and re-level the ground. Never attempt to move a pool with water in it, as this can cause serious injury or damage.
- WARNING: Your pool is under pressure. If there are bulges or uneven sides, the pool is not level, and sides may burst, discharging water suddenly and causing injury or property damage.
- Check the pool for leaks at valves or seams. Do not add chemicals until any evident water loss is addressed.
