Warnings
- Tonneau cover must be completely secure in the closed position or opened position while driving. DO NOT DRIVE with cover in partially opened position.
- Clean the debris before folding the tonneau cover.
- Professional installation would be highly recommended.
- Periodically check to ensure all clamps remain secure and tight.
- Remove the tonneau cover before towing the truck from the rear.
- Do not drive without safety clamps.
- Check the hinge before folding or unfolding during installation. If any damage is found, do not use the cover and contact OEDRO.
- The tailgate signal light may interfere with parking sensors or activate trailer mode.
- Secure wire harness in safe areas to avoid pinching, overheating, and any potential moving parts under or around the underside of the truck.
Step 1: Preparation
- Clean the bulkhead and bedrail before installation.
- For Tacoma trucks, stick the seal sticker on the bulkhead bar.
- Stick the seal strip onto the bulkhead.
A diagram shows cleaning the truck bed rail and applying a seal strip to the bulkhead.
Step 2: Initial Placement
- Place the cover assembly on the front truck bed rail against the cab. Leave the wire harness out of the truck bed.
- Release safety buckles.
A diagram shows placing the tonneau cover on the truck bed rail and releasing safety buckles.
Step 3: Unfolding
- Fully unfold the cover towards the rear.
- Ensure the cover aligns with the truck bed.
A diagram illustrates unfolding the tonneau cover to align with the truck bed.
Step 4: Refolding
Carefully refold the cover without moving its position on the truck bed.
A diagram shows refolding the tonneau cover.
Step 5: Securing Front Clamps
- Pull down the front clamp to a vertical position.
- Loosen the knob and slide the front clamp to the bed rail.
- Stick the clamp pad to the mounting position on the bed rail.
- Hook the J-shaped clamp under the metal bed rail lip and tighten the knob.
Note: Hand tighten ONLY. DO NOT overtighten.
A series of diagrams illustrate the process of attaching and tightening the front clamps, showing correct and incorrect clamp positions.
Step 6: Securing Rear Clamps
- Loosen the safety clamp and attach it to the bed rail lip on both sides.
- Hand tighten the knob clockwise. DO NOT use a wrench or overtighten.
- Adjust the strap to the proper length and pull the other end of the strap to tighten.
Diagrams show attaching and tightening the rear clamps, including adjusting the strap.
Step 7: Folding Up the Cover
- Open the tailgate.
- Release and fold up the rear clamps.
- Fold up the cover towards the front.
- Secure the safety buckles.
- After the tonneau cover is installed, periodically check to ensure all clamps and buckles remain secure and tight.
Diagrams illustrate opening the tailgate, releasing rear clamps, folding the cover, and securing buckles.
Step 8: Wiring - Initial Routing
- Feed the tonneau cover wire through the corrugated tube.
- Run the tonneau cover wire harness down the gap between the cab and the truck bed.
A diagram shows feeding the wire harness through a corrugated tube and routing it along the truck.
Step 9: Wiring - Connecting Harness
- Disconnect the 7-way trailer harness plug behind the rear bumper.
- Attach the modular wire harness to the 7-way trailer port and re-attach the plug from the tonneau cover to the second port on the modular wire harness.
Diagrams show disconnecting the trailer harness and connecting the modular wire harness.
Step 10: Wiring - Final Connection
Run the tonneau cover wire harness to the rear of the truck and attach it to the modular wire harness.
A diagram shows connecting the tonneau cover wire harness to the modular harness at the rear of the truck.
Step 11: Wiring - Securing Harness
- Secure any remaining loose/hanging wires to the truck body panel or frame rail using zip-ties.
- Temporarily remove the inner fender liner if equipped, and use the fender liner to isolate the wire harness.
Instructions and diagrams show securing the wire harness along the driver side factory harness and using existing mounting holes.
Step 12: Optional Wiring (Self-Wiring)
This step is for vehicles that may activate trailer mode or disable parking sensors after engaging the trailer wire. It requires self-wiring.
- Discard the 7-way modular trailer harness.
- Cut off the 4-pin tonneau cover wire harness plug.
- Connect the wires as follows:
- White wire: Vehicle frame electric ground pole.
- Yellow wire: Left turn/brake light (driver side taillamp).
- Green wire: Right turn/brake light (passenger side taillamp).
- Brown wire: Tail light (rearward running light).
Function | Color |
---|---|
Ground | White |
Tail Light | Brown |
Left Turn/Brake | Yellow |
Right Turn/Brake | Green |
Diagrams illustrate the wiring connections for self-wiring.
Special Instruction for Trucks with Utility Rail
For trucks equipped with a utility rail:
- Slide the mounting block into the track rail.
- Attach the front clamps onto the mounting block.
- Attach the center and rear clamps onto the mounting block.
- Tighten the set screw on the mounting block.
Diagrams show the utility rail system and the attachment of clamps using mounting blocks.
Special Instruction for Tacoma Trucks
- Remove the bulkhead bar.
- Stick the seal on both ends of the bar.
- Install the bulkhead bar back onto the truck.
Diagrams illustrate the process of removing, sealing, and reinstalling the bulkhead bar for Tacoma trucks.
