Installation Procedure
- Preparation: Remove all contents from the box and verify all parts are present. Read these instructions carefully before starting installation. Note that cutting is required to install the side bars.
- Passenger/Front Location: Locate the passenger/front mounting location on the vehicle's outer rocker panel. Remove the factory-installed round rubber plug from this area (refer to Figures 1, 2, 5, and 6 for visual guidance).
- Marking Plastic Covers (Front): Select the Passenger/Right Front Mounting Bracket (Figure 2). Position the bracket against the mounting location. Trace the outline of the bracket onto the plastic cover where the top of the bracket makes contact (Figure 3 and 4).
- Marking Plastic Covers (Center & Rear): Move to the center mounting location and repeat Step 3 to mark the plastic covers for the passenger/right center and rear positions. Then, move to the rear mounting location and repeat Step 3 for the rear plastic cover (Figures 5-8).
- Remove Plastic Covers: Carefully remove the marked plastic covers from the underside of the vehicle.
- Cut Plastic Covers: Cut each plastic cover along the traced marks to create clearance for the mounting brackets. IMPORTANT: These cuts are necessary for proper bracket fitment. Remove any rubber sealant that might obstruct bracket installation (Figure 11). (Refer to Figures 9A-10B for examples of cut covers).
- Reattach Covers: Reattach the cut plastic covers to the vehicle.
- Install Front Bracket Hardware (Passenger/Right): Move to the passenger/right front mounting location. Select one 8mm Bolt Plate and insert it into the corresponding hole in the outer rocker panel (Figure 12A). Slide one 8mm Plastic Retainer onto the threads of the bolt plate to secure it in place (Figure 12C).
- Attach Front Bracket (Passenger/Right):
- For the 10mm L-Shaped Bolt: Attach the bracket to the L-Shaped Bolt using one Locking Plate, one 10mm Flat Washer, one 10mm Lock Washer, and one 10mm Hex Nut.
- For the 8mm Bolt Plate: Attach the bracket to the 8mm Bolt Plate using one 8mm Flat Washer, one 8mm Lock Washer, and one 8mm Hex Nut (Figures 13-15). Do not fully tighten hardware at this stage.
- Install Center Bracket (Passenger/Right): Move to the passenger/right center mounting location (Figure 1). Select the Passenger/Right Center Mounting Bracket. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 (for hardware attachment) to secure this bracket to the vehicle panels (Figures 16 & 17).
- Install Rear Bracket Hardware (Passenger/Right): Move to the passenger/right rear mounting location (Figures 1 & 18). Insert two 8mm Bolt Plates into the outer hole of the outer rocker panel and the inner hole of the inner floor panel. Secure these bolt plates with two 8mm Plastic Retainers (Figures 12A & 19).
- Attach Rear Bracket (Passenger/Right): Select the Passenger/Right Rear Mounting Bracket. Attach it to the installed Bolt Plates using two 8mm Flat Washers, two 8mm Lock Washers, and two 8mm Hex Nuts (Figures 20 & 21).
- Attach Passenger/Right Sidebar: Carefully unwrap the Passenger/Right Sidebar. Attach the sidebar to the three mounted brackets using six 8mm Combo Bolts (Figure 22).
- Install Driver/Left Side: Repeat Steps 2 through 13 for the installation of the Driver/Left Sidebar (Figures 23-25).
- Final Check: Perform periodic inspections to ensure all hardware remains secure and tight after installation.
Care and Maintenance
To protect your investment and maintain the finish of the side bars:
- Do not use any type of polish or wax that contains abrasives, as these can damage the finish.
- For stainless steel finishes, aluminum polish may be used to gently polish small scratches and scuffs.
- Mild soap and water can be used to clean the side bars.
